There is no evidence for what the bible says that is not in the bible. If it's from another source, it's evidence of what that source says.
For example, there is nothing in any Topix post that offers evidence for what the bible says. There may be opinions about what it says here, but that is not evidence of anything actually in the bible.
If you want to insist that your bible does not mean a literal dome over heaven, and that anybody who disagrees is misunderstanding the bible, you need to use the bible and only the bible to do that, and you need to find a scripture that unambiguously affirms your claim. Plus, there can be no contradictory scriptures.
Wait a sec, you do what you're telling me not to do all the time.

You'll quote the bible as saying "the circle of the earth", them you'll use a non-biblical source to 'prove' that means a flat disc.

Don't be such a hypocrite.
This is why you have no authority on the matter. Your revisionist version of biblical cosmology is not supported by the bible. Mine is.
Sorry.
Ya, that's right. You're right & I'm wrong. Because you say so.

And what point am I missing?
You're right, though. I misspoke. The bible is more than just a collection of vague, erroneous and self-contradictory claims. It's also got trivial observations, meaningless genealogies comprising first names, some absurd claims, a few stolen moral precepts of value as well as some bad, original ones - and probably more.
Do you think that it contributes anything of value? If so, could you offer a few examples of anything worth going to the bible for?
==========
“If all the historic books of the Bible were blotted from the memory of mankind, nothing of value would be lost.”- Robert Ingersoll
"The Bible was written by the same people who said the Earth was flat." - George Bernard Shaw
“The Bible is not the verbally inspired, inerrant word of God; it is just a collection of contradictory, discrepant books that were written by superstitious ethnocentrics who thought that the hand of God was directing the destiny of the Hebrew people.”- Farrell Till
I truly do not care what some self-deluded atheists think of the bible.

Don't waste your time.

Maybe you would find a Sunday school class or a church picnic more stimulating. Those are all Christians. Let us pray.
Well howabout that so that why you show up here everyday too.

<quoted text> Boooosts, this entire conversation has loooooong since become as meaningless as my trying to get a point over to you, and your constant calling of proof of our God's existence has also long since worn itself out as well, so why don't we just agree to drop the matter altogether, as again I know IN whom I have placed my faith and belief and it has never let me down before, so lets just leave it at that, alright?
Sounds like a good plan that I am comfortable with.

I will however, from time to time, if I see something that particularly bothers me, that you might post, maybe to another person, if I feel I have something legitimate to add or say, I will say it.

How does any of this support your position that the bible definitely does not suggest that a physical dome sits over a flat earth? Wasn't that your position. I claimed that the bible indicated exactly that to many people for centuries, and supported it with a Google link showing multiple illustrations of a snow globe: http://snipurl.com/26x9l1j . Scaritual provided another.
But you said that neither of us understood the bible, and that you knew better. We're still waiting to see upon what basis you made that claim. Surely you don't think that the scripture that you just quoted does that - or do you?
There you go again, using a non-biblical source to 'prove' your point.

This is getting old. How about a little common sense?

Say you're in the middle of a desert, k? Now look all around you, all you see is sand - in every direction, in all places. K? Look at the horizon.

It's arched, not flat.

All that without me mentioning any lake of fire. Underneath it all you must be quite worried. Take notes feller, forgive yourself first, then forgive others and receive forgiveness also. You need to be absent pride if you really want to seek salvation.

You also have to be absent stupidity, but that's another subject.

I guess that I need to roll the boulder up the hill a little more, since once again, your mind has slipped tracks.
I know that Protestantism is on the rise in Mexico. I never claimed otherwise. Let's review:
I claimed that "Christianity is dying in both Canada and Mexico" I cited a statistic showing a fall in Catholicism. You implied that this was offset by an equivalent rise in Protestantism. I debunked that with the post quoted at the top of this one, which indicated that Protestantism is on the rise in Mexico, but not enough to support your claim.
And all your little alcohol soaked mind can come up with is that my source said that Protestantism is on the rise.
You're a moron, Dung. A moron. You're not smart enough to discuss this matter. Your mind wanders. You can't stay on point.
'Alcohol soaked mind', huh?

Lol, ok IANS. Ok.

Nice ASSumptions. It's an atheist hallmark.

Did I do that link thing right?
I'm new here.
The link directed to the wrong page, because your post has moved.

Links to specific Topix posts come in two formats (divided here so that you can see them). The first one is the one you provided:

[1] http://www.topix.com/ forum/topstories/ T0N0LORUMAROFEJGO/ p25346#c526820

[2] http://www.topix.com/ forum/topstories/ T0N0LORUMAROFEJGO/ post526820

Posts migrate from one page to another in Topix mostly because of post censoring/deletion. The post you wanted is no longer on page 25346. It is now on page 25345, meaning that format [1], won't find it.

The link in your browsers URL field will be of the less desirable type. If you right click on the post number just to the left of the Judgit function, and select Copy Link Location, your link will always be good [a permalink] unless the post is deleted. You can also get links in this format from your home page if it is set to show your last ten posts, as yours is.

Here are the two links above reconstructed for you to test:

[1] http://www.topix.com/forum/topstories/T0N0LOR...

[2] http://www.topix.com/forum/topstories/T0N0LOR...

Notice that after you click onto link [2], the URL will be converted to the other type in your browser's URL field.

Hope that helps.

I never implied that neuroscience is any kind of belief, just that reading a neuroscience book does not make one an expert at it - or even a layman.
The same goes for those who have just 'read' the bible.
I agree. One should have university training as a historian, read all related material from the period, have a good grasp of the languages and idioms of the period, and not make up one's mind until all evidence has been evaluated without prejudice or bias.

Something religious people are usually incapable of doing.

Prove it - right here on Topix - that you have hands.

No one can.
