Hey bigot, how are you going to put Christians in the "dustbin" as you posted before? I do thankyou for once again showing you hate on display for a good part of the people.

Thanks for your honesty CS. I appreciate that.
About the bad starts...If you start off poorly, you can only go up from there y'know. It usually(not always) brings the worst emotion and tells out, so you have a good idea what to expect. It's kinda like poker. Then ya get ta deal with the "real" person.
If I can offer you any information or whatever to help you in any way, you know I always will...differences and all...it is what it is.
Feel free to remind me of this statement any time.
You are most welcome BT #42.
:)
You're ok by me, and I pray it remains that way. People can have differences and respect each others line that is drawn, then once a clear understanding is forged, it can be put aside so we can learn of each other as human beings, scholars, people who have similar and differing interesrs, concerns, goals and yes, even friends.

You see some of these people (on both sides) fail to realize that without honesty, there can be no true friendships and respect is a hollow and shaky column on a sandy foundation. I have two people who I call good acquaintances, one I may even call friend who is gay. They know where I stand and I know where they stand. So whenever I see them, we don't bring it up and they don't flaunt their behavior or opinions. It isn't brushing it under the carpet, it is clearly understanding and respecting the views of others and let it go. If the gays impose their beliefs and behaviors up on me, I will have a problem, so I don't go around Topix seeking out the gays to bash them.

Just letting you know how I approach things at times.

Shalom.

I wounder if they were Christians? Have you ever read Foxe's Book of Martyrs? Countless people were put to death by very painful ways. Many were part of the church. I have my doubts that they were part of the true chuch that the Lord builds.

All evidence for what?

"What historical evidence did you offer? What historical evidence could there be of what the bible says? All evidence for that would be in the bible."

There is no evidence for what the bible says that is not in the bible. If it's from another source, it's evidence of what that source says.

For example, there is nothing in any Topix post that offers evidence for what the bible says. There may be opinions about what it says here, but that is not evidence of anything actually in the bible.

If you want to insist that your bible does not mean a literal dome over heaven, and that anybody who disagrees is misunderstanding the bible, you need to use the bible and only the bible to do that, and you need to find a scripture that unambiguously affirms your claim. Plus, there can be no contradictory scriptures.

This is why you have no authority on the matter. Your revisionist version of biblical cosmology is not supported by the bible. Mine is.

Sorry.

It appears that your memory of the chain of events leading up to my rebuttal of your comment was faulty, and your logic is faulty.

If you can't remember something that involved you and how it progressed in just the past few hours how can you assert anything with any degree of certainty?

My comment had nothing to do with your comment to MisterCarrinton that needed to prove to you he'd been to Germany.

That opinion right there is why you get it wrong, IANS. You read the bible as if it's "just a collection of vague, erroneous and self-contradictory claims". You too possess an extreme confirmation bias. Thanks for playing.
G_O_D wrote:
Agreed. And most Christians read it as a history and science book. Both miss the whole point.
And what point am I missing?

You're right, though. I misspoke. The bible is more than just a collection of vague, erroneous and self-contradictory claims. It's also got trivial observations, meaningless genealogies comprising first names, some absurd claims, a few stolen moral precepts of value as well as some bad, original ones - and probably more.

Do you think that it contributes anything of value? If so, could you offer a few examples of anything worth going to the bible for?

“If all the historic books of the Bible were blotted from the memory of mankind, nothing of value would be lost.”- Robert Ingersoll

"The Bible was written by the same people who said the Earth was flat." - George Bernard Shaw

“The Bible is not the verbally inspired, inerrant word of God; it is just a collection of contradictory, discrepant books that were written by superstitious ethnocentrics who thought that the hand of God was directing the destiny of the Hebrew people.”- Farrell Till

<quoted text> I'm not pretending to be God, but of course anyone Blessed with the knowledge of God's Word and can rightly divide the scriptures, would likely seem like a God to you, and there is not a bigger fool than someone who refuse to believe in any of God's Word because of an Apostle that don't like and so consider that part of the Bible to be non-legitimate, and argue in favor of a book like Thomas, which God didn't allow to be included in the Bible for obvious reasons, if THAT is not a FOOL..........then I don't know what is.
Strangely I have never found that someone blessed with God's Word and who can rightly divide the scripture seems like a God. Actually I guess the more correct way to say that is I have never seen someone who can do that, and especially those posting on this site, however I know that you may believe 100% what you are saying is right, and that is okay, but I am 100% positive that you do not have the power you claim nor do you have the knowledge of God you claim.

Getting back to a much used cliche, which I have even seen believers using it in the opposite way, is that if anyone on earth actually knew for sure that God exists or that the Bible is absolutely true, then we would not be having this conversation.

Because of the power that a belief in a god holds over such a huge number of humans, such knowledge would be spread so fast and everyone would know it so quickly that only those who had no contact with other people in the world would be the only ones left to not believe.

Well said Trifecta 1. Unfortunately, may be a wasted post on someone who set their feet in quick dry cement, never again to be removed from final choice concerning his destiny.
Shalom.
Andrew (CS).
True thing. To me though it's his choice to keep his feet in quick dry cement and keep drowning for all eternity. I just hope no Christian on this billboard ever let them think there is any hope for them outside of Jesus Christ. If they keep rejecting Jesus Christ and keep they foot in the quick dry cement, at least they know it's totally on them and Christianity never tell them no doctrine to help them keep they foot there.

You provide a perfect example of the damage that religion inflicts on society, and the pain it inflicts on individuals.

Fortunately, there has been a seismic change over the past few years, and you troglodytes will quickly be relegated to the dustbin of history.

Jason Collins's statement yesterday, and the support he has received from his fellow NBA players, is an indication of the monumental shift that is taking place.

Insults are all you will have left, and but for your fellow homophobes, they will not be well received.

extremely brief explanation of a very complicated order....
Truth, Justice, fairness, and the order in the cognitive mind by which it is evaluated and related to the recognized environment in the dimensions we are subject to, and to which it is applied by the individual through thought, voice and action. It is not an abstract which is "imposed" by supernatural entity, It is the construct of unconscious and conscious determination of events and their evaluations of order and importance in the all of existence of the individual and his effectual environment.. This manifests as conscious thought, speech, and action, and is formulated as "moral law".
Well said. I believe Mr. Catchum is happy that you answered it for him.

<quoted text>That's irrelevant. Laundry detergent to wash clothes or detergent to wash dishes where you pit your food are clean, yet you would not drink it. Your reasoning is absurd.
A man having sex with a woman the juices from her vagina on his sexual organ, are not dirty. There is no filth smeared on him.
When you have sex with your make partner, it's Filth that's on you. Literal Filth. English language defined filth.
That makes you a filthy vile human being, and I'm being kind, the English language describes you as worse.
An anus is an organ to excrete Filth. There is filth where you purposely smear yourself. There are no filth in a healthy vagina.
Stop trying to run away from what you are.
LOL...I couldn't have said it any better, yet the smeared painting called Lacez will again try not to see the logic in your reply. A reply better directed at someone with at least have decent reasoning ability.
