Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honour to His name.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid,
For You are close beside me.
Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honour me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Because your god is said to be loving.
If you were claiming that the universe was ruled by a perfectly evil god, we would reject that as well, and ask you why it let kids be happy with crayons instead of giving them all leukemia as a counter-example to your claim.
But you tell us about a perfectly loving god instead. Childhood happiness needs no explaining under that hypothesis. But the leukemia does.
They would understand the duality of YHWY better if they read (and believed) the first half of their Bibles.

"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." explains the duality eloguently and simply.

The "God" I believe in fits that.

At the time of Jesus there were Jewish communities all over the known world; Rome, Africa, Egypt, Spain, etc.

There is nothing to indicate that Jesus was refering to any gentiles at all.

Don't worry. He won't be there long.
He'll start arguing with Satan about Satan's true name or some other piece of theological torment, and get promoted upstairs back to earth and Topix to put an end to so much suffering in hell.
I like CS's posts. He puts so much thought and work into them. Like watching a beaver build a dam. At least it isn't the same old fire and brimstone stuff.

Around 350 AD

Of the entire tome, only four texts are about Jesus.
Modern Christianity is the religion of Pagan Rome as taught by the Roman ( AKA Catholic) Church based on the teachings of Paul.

It has little to do with Jesus.

Hi
I agree. Jesus never went around preaching fire and brimstone. Jesus commissioned His followers to preach good news to everyone (Mark 16:15).
The Greek word translated ‘gospel’ means ‘good news.’ Therefore, whoever preaches nothing but bad news is not preaching the gospel and did not receive a commission from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Preaching nothing but bad news is a great way to cull your flock.
The mature Christians will discern his first insight and will leave. The congregation that remains will be paranoid and insecure, they will have the mindset of an embattled minority. These are not fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:19-23). Those who are fearful do not know the love of God, because perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). If they were confident of God’s providence, they would not fear the world.
As Jesus said, what comes out of a man’s mouth is what he has in his own heart.
People who preach nothing but hellfire and brimstone must do so because they have never experienced the grace and love of God. They condemn others, because they aren’t so sure about themselves, and they want to make sure that someone else is worse off so that they will make the cut.The " I am not as bad as that person" attitude. Thats My belief and I am stickin to it!!!! < smile>
