For starters and according to scriptures, Joseph and Mary weren't rich. Whether or not we can even consider them "middle-class" is questionable.
Secondly, I wondered why, after all the work put into the carvings on the tomb, that the names looked like the wily works of a graffiti "artist."?...the ancient Hebrew alphabet, if memory serves me correctly, was no longer in use.
2. The 'scratching of the name' is common on all ossuaries of the period even expensive one's like Caiphus'(yes we have it as well and it is undisputed)the ossuaries in the Talpiot Tomb were fairly plain (not a rich families).
