When is it ever any different? And who is it that is labeling some of us brother and sister while excluding the rest? That's Jesus' kids doing that.

LOL. O holy! O so holy! Praise him!

Why not shit-can all of that nonsense? What part is worth preserving? Christianity is obviously an intellectual and moral dead end, and should be allowed to die without resistance.

I'm glad that horse link I sent Annie J by mistake became such a talking point.
Your Nelly surely was a cutie, tho I too had to 'look' closely'- having been with Zebras in Africa - I haven't seen a horse with these beautiful marking before.
I have never had the pleasure of owning...
I noticed later on you posted that you had not intended to give the link you did, but thank you for doing so. ;O) I have been around horses since I was a child, but have not had the pleasure of owning one yet myself. We are having a lot of fun preparing ourselves to adopt a few now that we have the land available.
It’s always good to read you Peace, and I hope all is well in your slice of the world.

<quoted text>Your problem is that you limit your view.
Believers visit Topix to share, debate, and anything else with hopes that our discussions will bring us closer to one another. Unfortunately and more times than not, some find it difficult maintaining composure, especially when one that claims to be a believer spews nothing but hatred and insults toward almost all others that claim to fly the same banner. In my humble opinion and I'm sure you can agree, that's even more frustrating than having a fellow believer disagree at every turn while still remaining respectful. It's even worse when the hatred and insults derive from disagreements. And even worse than that is when atheists feel compelled to use bible verses against so-called "believers" in order to quench their negative thoughts and speech.
The fact is, though, that our generations were born into a religion already divided. Therefore, we enter Topix with the division that we, for the most part, had no part in creating. Many of us feel compelled to do what we think necessary to try, to the best of our abilities, to unite our religion. And the only way to do that is to discuss the doctrines that are supposed to be based on the one thing our denominations have in common-- the Bible. And for many reasons and excuses, and regardless of our affiliation, we find it most difficult humbling ourselves to one another. And atheists feed off of all of this.
Atheists are born into the same divisions, but atheists don't visit religious forums and threads divided. Atheists visit religious forums and threads with a common intention, and that's to convince the religious that atheism reflects intelligence while theism reflects ignorance. Other than that, atheists have not much to argue and disagree about when it comes to religion and as long as they remain on topic. That's not hard to do for an atheist in a religious forum and thread. But, for you to say that the same that's witnessed in these religious forums and threads among the religious are non-existent and unheard of among atheists is ludicrous and delusional, and derives from a complex of superiority. Of a surety, not all atheists agree on all political issues and views. Of a surety, not all atheists agree on all secular issues and views. And of a surety, not all atheists show the same level of constraint when discussing topics deemed a "sensitive nature" with one another.
I agree. The attitudes among some of us in Topix are appalling. And personally, I wouldn't put myself in the same ranks for calling a person a "liar" and "backstabber" while providing evidence of their lies and betrayal. And frankly, if this was my normal mode of operation, then most likely, you wouldn't have had to wait so long to approached me with your concern. But, you've just now ranked me among those you oppose regularly.
.. it's the caliber of sharing that disturbs me ..

.. both HFY and Catcher disagree with me on several issues, they've even voiced their opposition in this forum. There's a subtle difference between our 'side' and your 'side'- we know when to back off ..

.. because the beliefs of some Christians are inflexible, tempers flare. The, "I'm right, you're wrong," syndrome fails to promote harmony. Throughout history, this has been the bane of all religion, the insistence that some belief or dogma is the one and only truth ..

.. how can humans survive when various religious sects under the same umbrella vehemently oppose each other? Is the Baptist better than the Catholic, the Shiite better than the Sunni? The White better than the Black? The Christian better than the Jew or Muslim? The heterosexual better than the homosexual ??..

.. we can do better ..

BLL is stupid narrow minded spiritual blind american creature having not clue deep double meanings of old not written languages and slang like ancient greek koine language of peasants
It's highly ironic that you spend this much energy pedantically parsing the definition of the Greek word for love when you constantly demonstrate you haven't the slightest idea what the word itself means, nor have much of it in your own heart. You are lost, Shrink, lost in a lake of anger, bitterness, and bile. You are a perfect example of someone who studies the Bible but get's no benefit from it.

Now where did I ever tell you that you have to believe Jesus is the Atonement for all Mankind ? That is my belief.
Where did I tell you you have to believe in one God ? That is my belief.
That's pretty much it for my beliefs. The rest is comparative literature, history and common sense in a word "Fatcs". You know the things you hate. LOL

No, that's not being fair to me. I communicate well. Dim is functionally illiterate. He cannot even cut-and-paste a word or number without mangling it: selves --> selfs, and 27%--> 23% in the last 24-48 hours alone.
I expressed to you before that I commend you for your patients during the discussion, and that I could follow what you were saying. I am sorry if I offended you by saying that the two of you don’t communicate well with each other. Someone could be one of the best communicators in the world and still come across someone they can not effectively communicate with.
It aint necessarily so wrote:
<quoted text>
Please restate that. I haven't seen any Christian admonish Dim for his gutter ethics in calling unbelievers liars without foundation.
Please see below.
It aint necessarily so wrote:
<quoted text>
"See if you find other posters doing such going forward from here"? Sorry, but this writing is opaque to me. I don't know what you want me to do. See if any Christian criticizes Dim's manners to unbelievers after today?
I was asking if you notice admonishments from Christians to other Christians if they are an example of the qualities you are looking for in a Christian. You stated that you hear of love, repentance and meekness, but that you do not see it from Christians, and that no Christian said anything to Skom.

Chances are it is me that is not communicating well with you at this point. I am not saying that as a jab. We recently discussed the term fundie when it comes to an atheist. You very efficiently expressed your view to me, I completely understood where you were coming from, and looked at my own use of the word differently. So below I am going to attempt to clearly and efficiently express my views to you when it comes to admonishments from Christians.

I stepped in and said something to Skom when I thought he was not understanding what you were saying and responding out of turn. I told him that I did not think that your views were changing and that there was miscommunication going on. This is how I express that I think that someone is in the wrong. Skom knows I was questioning him because I commented to him and not you. To *me*, my stepping forward and saying something to him was an admonishment. I was asking him to slow down and rethink it. I do not cuss, argue, call names or try to manipulate others to my view. I do not change facts, others words, act superior or throw out random Bible verses. Please do not take my previous two sentences as what I read you to do, they are simply examples of some of the behavior I have read on here when folks disagree. So what I am asking is if perhaps the way that I voiced my admonishment to him, was not in the manner that you were looking for?

I'm human and without thinking, I probably sin once or twice a day. One of my worst is impatience. Another is gossip. Let's face it, we all gossip and sometimes don't even realize we're doing it, like "did you hear about so and so whos name is in the paper" and that's after it's been passed along nine or ten times. Another is envy, especially when I hear of someone who has won the lottery and I think "Why them instead of me?" Laziness is another. I find myself picking up the tv remote instead of picking up the Bible and searching for the answer to a question that is bothering me and asking for guidance. I could go on and on but in my heart, Jesus and God are very important to me and I feel that I am loved in spite of the fact that I have to apologize to Him every day, sometimes more than once even though I feel in my heart that I don't deserve the love and peace that follow. Anyhow, JMHO. Blessings to all, I for one am going to work on those that I have mentioned and hopefully be a better person for it.
