Yes... I've learned a little about the Bahais about 2 years ago. Some of it's followers go by the term Christian but in my understanding of the scriptures they are a completely different outfit. They call themselves humanists and ecumenists.

<quoted text>I'm not sure how else to explain it except that removing the criminal from society is an act of love toward those offended.
So this omnipotent God does nothing for the offender? Isn't everyone an offender according to Christianity? Makes no sense.
As I quoted, Peter explained that not only was Noah instructed to build an ark, but that he also preached to the people, to warn them.
How did Noah warn people all over the world? Or was God only concerned with those in his immediate area?
And that's the issue. "God" created us. And with that, we were given a law. And with the law, we were given both, blessings and curses, for obedience and disobedience.
Well, according to the Bible, God gave laws that God later found inadequate. Isn't that rather inconsistent?
This might remain a mystery to us, but apparently, the more "unclean" we become, the more "unclean" our Earth becomes, because of our presence.
Sure doesn't say much about the quality of God's creation, does it?
Two issues, here. The first is that they became "unclean," too. The second is that the chances were extremely high that they were only going to continue on the same path as those before them. If none were righteous, except for Noah and his family, then how would they learn righteousness?
So it's like "Minority Report"? Come on, how can fetuses and babies become unclean? They haven't had any opportunity. And how is it Noah and his family were the sole exception on the entire Earth? Doesn't that seem a bit unlikely? Especially given Noah's erratic behavior after they got off the ark (the curse of Ham etc).
As you know, he left a remnant. And He didn't know that man would fail. He had hoped man wouldn't. But, again, with the law came blessings and curses, for obedience and disobedience.
I wonder what else God has no clue about.
Not necessarily so. As it's written, man became like our heavenly host by learning both, good and evil.
And why was that such a terrible thing that God chose to curse every subsequent generation? Isn't this one of the first lessons of the Bible: seeking knowledge is the ultimate evil?
"God's" love is available to all that wants it.
Except offenders?
He's not going to force love from us. But, He also can't allow those that have no respect for life to continue. If anything, though, "God" is more concerned with our love for one another than He is for our love toward Him.
That is absolutely untrue, according to the Bible. What is the only sin that is never forgiven? It's not anything that one human can do to another, it's denying the Holy Spirit. Humans can commit any number of atrocities, and as long as they honestly repent later, God gives them a pass. So much for concern about the victims. All God seems to care about is itself.
After the great day of Judgment. If I'm right, all that's ever lived and died before Messiah was crucified, or never had an opportunity to learn of Messiah, will be resurrected and allowed the chance to repent, so forth and so on. For those that don't, they'll be forever destroyed. Not tortured in some fiery hell, as even hell is going to be destroyed. Just destroyed.
That's interesting. I've never heard of the idea that Hell itself would be destroyed. Is that in Revelation?

Jer 18:18-20
The people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem said,
“Come, let us contrive a plot against Jeremiah.
It will not mean the loss of instruction from the priests,
nor of counsel from the wise, nor of messages from the prophets.
And so, let us destroy him by his own tongue;
let us carefully note his every word.”
Heed me, O LORD,
and listen to what my adversaries say.
Must good be repaid with evil
that they should dig a pit to take my life?
Remember that I stood before you
to speak in their behalf,
to turn away your wrath from them.
Praise God. At that time, when the people of Israel & Judah were in rebellion against the Lord... they simply hated the true prophets because their word wasn't what they wanted to hear. Because of their rebellion it was a word of doom and gloom. Actually, it was simply a warning(s) from the Lord. But because they did not want to heed to The Lord they decided to make God in their own image So they set themselves up with many false prophets, that is, people who would tell them everything they wanted to hear. God gave them time to repent and the next generations. Warnings in the course from other previous prophets, and from Isaiah to Jeremiah (about 176 years)... They didn't repent so Lamentations is the fulfilment of God's Judgement.

I'm curious. I often ask Christians who believe that homosexuality is a sin what the rationale for that would be. For the most part they either say it's simply what the Bible says (i.e., no rationale) or something to do with procreation, which would seem to also cast a pall on those who don't or can't have children. Do you have any rationale as to why the Bible would condemn homosexuality?

Many people say that teaching young children such things as the terrorism of hell theology, the guilt of a dysfunctional attitude toward sex, and a radical nihilism for this life is child abuse.

I would be willing to make an exception to the Establishment Clause and allow them to do it on public property using state supplied snakes. In fact, only people that have successfully handled a snake should be allowed to carry currency that says "In God We Trust"
LOL! Brilliant. Because, well, they did trust exactly what the Bible said, didn't they? Although to be fair, the Bible also says that one should not test God, and intentionally poisoning yourself to make a point would seem to violate that.

@ Pilgrim:

Jeremiah: "Then the word of the Lord came to me:

9 “This is what the Lord says:‘In the same way I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.

10 These wicked people, who refuse to listen to my words, who follow the stubbornness of their hearts and go after other gods to serve and worship them, will be like this belt—completely useless!

11 For as a belt is bound around a man’s waist, so I bound the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to me,’ declares the Lord,‘to be my people for my renown and praise and honor. But they have not listened.’

It makes no sense to you because you don't bother trying to understand. All you do is mock.

God allows is free will, if He "did something for the offender", He'd be disturbing that free will.

@ Pilgrim (1 more) I Kings chapter 22 (the whole chapter...priceless):

"The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat,“There is still one man through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”

==========

Also... Jeremiah chapter 37. Being a prophet of the Lord in that time has been romanticized but it actually was a deadly occupation of sorts. It got so bad in Jeremiah's time he actually said that he wasn't going to speak the Word of the Lord anymore... but couldn't help it because the Word was like fire in his bones (as an euphemism)...

THE PARENT CAFE
Parent-Led Effort to Keep Families
Profound change starts with meaningful conversation. Across South Carolina, parents are engaging in lively, real conversations to keep their families strong. These conversations are called Parent Cafés, and they are transforming parenting education and efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Parent Cafés are driven by the knowledge that parents can, must, and do tap into their wisdom and resources in order to strengthen their own families. Parent Cafés take place at early childhood centers and other friendly environments. Guided by trained Parent Hosts, parents gather in small groups and explore questions that really matter to them, questions that they genuinely want answered. Those questions deal with:
• Taking Care of Yourself
• Being a Strong Parent
• Building Positive Relationships
• Developing a Solid Education Plan
• Being Aware of Support
We gather and share the group’s wisdom and discoveries. Conversations are the foundation for individual action and community building.“Through these meaningful conversations, parents are working to build six protective factors that strengthen their families: strength and flexibility, friendships with other parents, knowledge of child development, supportive services, and the ability to help their children communicate and give them the love and respect they need” according to the Center for the Study of Social Policy. Parent Cafes tap into the collective wisdom that is present in every community. As parents lead their own learning and growth, they gain confidence, recognize what they already know, and realize what supports they already have around them. They become clear about what their families’ challenges are. With other parents, they devise ways to solve problems and resolve issues in their own families. They identify issues and find ways to address them, committing to individual action. And they build trusting relationships, social support, and connections with other parents.
In the supportive environment of the Parent Café, parents come together to deal with the fears, pressures, and challenges that many have struggled with alone. Through the Parent Café process, parents move beyond isolation to give and receive the support they need to keep their families strong.
Contact Info:[email protected] Want to host a café at your agency, church or in your neighborhood? All you need is the willingness to have a conversation! We will do the rest.
