Another poster said you suggested people coming him. About half a dozen people in your 'group'(I think that is a fair characterization) did come here.
I didn't see anyone claim all the problems are due to you guys however. I did see one post suggesting if people are just here for trouble then its best to ignore them, not that no trouble ever existed prior
There had to be a reason you suggested people come here. So if you don't mind me asking, what was the reason?
The PTAG thread had been going downhill (it has gotten even worse since), and was becoming boring. I found this thread while surfing about. I must admit that my first reaction was amusement at some of the more "conservative" (to me, ridiculous) posters, and I mentioned this to others at PTAG and perhaps also the Atheism thread. I didn't make any private suggestion to anybody. My sense is that others' curiosity was aroused, and here we are.

One other comment: Although I see eye to eye on some issues with certain posters, I don't think it's fair to characterize posters as "our group," any more than Christian posters here can fairly be called "their group." We are all individuals; we have no alliances; no "agendas" have ever been discussed. Some of the people you apparently include don't even communicate with others you include.

Not "would", but "could".

Sorry for being technical, but you do actually need to get it right to have a point.

That's a strange comparison but I understand why you are getting angry now. Embarrassment often leads to anger

Your own words gave you away. You said it fortuitous that it happened to be IANS the things you were objecting to was to. Why was it fortuitous that it was IANS and not some other poster if your desire is simply to oppose on the issues and not to defend a certain poster? The reason it was fortuitous is because you want to defend IANS every chance you get and this gave you what you see as an excuse.

Like I said, people (and often the same people) have been in equally similar exchanges with others in your group and you might once in a while respond once or not at all. But when someone confronts IANS than like clockwork here comes IANS Jr responding to every post not only to him but to IANS or about IANS. Heck you defend him more than he defends himself.

Keep looking for those fortuitous opportunities to claim you are jumping in on merit and not out of a desire to defend IANS while disguising it as merit. And who knows, maybe one day you will be able to admit to yourself why it is so important to you to do this. I personally think you look up to him AND want his approval. I am simply suggesting you don't sacrifice your self-respect in pursuit of that goal

No, I'm not "UPtight" because you mentioned "fistin" .

I'm not uptight at all. Just making an observation and a correction--prostate, not prostrate.

While I'm at it, it's "must have", not "must of."

I can understand seeking out a more entertaining thread as things can get stale in rooms at times

I really am not interested in debating the merits of 'group'. I consider a 'group' to be pretty much like-minded posters that post in the same places and defend each other regularly. If you think 'group' isn't a fair description I won't argue the point as I guess it is subjective.

By the way, prostate v. prostrate is not a spelling mistake.

They are two words, meaning entirely different things.

Although a prostate can be massaged while prostrate.

Friendship.
He is friends with a group of people on Topix from what I have seen

I have also seen his other friends in pretty wild conflicts where Tide barely says anything if at all

So why does he do so disproportionately so much with IANS?

If IANS means so much more to him than his other friends on Topix and he feels the need to defend anything said to him on Topix then so be it. Why not let him say that? He is currently denying it has anything to do with that and is based on merit. Personally I think it is abandonment issues or hero-worship but it may be his friendship with IANS Although the disproportionate responses would suggest then he sees IANS as his 'best Topix friend"

So do you think Tide is lying to me and he really is defending IANS because they are friends and not simply because he objected to what was said to him? I personally think his feelings for IANS plays a big role as well. Thank you for suggesting his defense of IANS is motivated by friendship. What I have been saying isn't that much different. For the friendship of another man on Topix to warrant such special consideration over others there must be a reason.

Your post was more helpful than you probably realized it was going to be

Thank you

No the implication was they do

Nobody brings up a loophole that anybody they consider moral wouldn't use and includes it with a jab on Christians such as "ask the sky for forgiveness" and then can try to claim they were simply stating the possibility exists and be taken seriously

He said it to imply Christians do it

It is amazing to me the lengths you will go to trying to deny the obvious

~Christians don't need to ask for forgiveness or make amends to the people they hurt because they can just ask the sky for forgiveness

You take that to 100 people and ask the if they think that is meant as a negative implication towards Christians and 98 say yes and the other two are you and IANS

A little defensive eh Catcher?

You did post as to my whereabouts in another room, have claimed you are watching me, and invited others to come here. Those that have have all been in negative exchanges. It was hardly a stretch to think that may have been your intent

Although I didn't even challenge that point. I simply characterized the people who don't believe in God and defend each other and post in the same rooms as one another as a group. You really are going to try to make an issue out of the word 'group'?

Yeah it is amazing people would get the idea you guys are here for conflict

I guess that fortuitous coincidence keeps repeating itself in room after room in Topix since I see you come to the defense of IANS probably more than probably all other posters combined
I jump into a lot of conversations. I can only remember jumping to his defense once, when RiversideRedneck said that IANS hates Christians. Then I only said, "Welcome to the aquarium, large mouth."

IANS and I are doing a lot of the same things for the same reasons. Perhaps that is why you are seeing connections.
Skombolis wrote:
I understand why it would be hard for you as a man to admit this. But your actions speak for themselves. I was just scrolling through the "Prove there's a God" room and same deal. Over and over and over again regardless of me or other posters, anytime someone is involved with IANs you are involved.
So what? I have a circle of people that I keep up with on a more personal level. IANS is just one of those people. We also have conversations with a lot of the same people.
Skombolis wrote:

I don't like to spread myself thin. When I get into a serious discussion, I like to be considerate, and make some effort.
Skombolis wrote:
Do you really believe things change so drastically with the same people only when they are dealing with IANS? That is silly. You want to protect IANS and have made it your job to do so. You really can't bring yourself to say why?
That's fine, I won't press any further.
I'm fine addressing whatever you want to bring up.

Friendship.
If this was a case of me just defending a friend, I'd be asking him just exactly what would be wrong with that.

It's not like I don't do that. This just isn't one of those times.

I agree with what IANS has been doing lately. I've wanted to do it myself ever since I "met" Skom.

It's a lesson about accountability. Skom walked right into it.
