That argument is so common, and has so many variations, that I have been collecting them. I'll share the reasons I have been given to date for why I am not qualified to interpret scripture:
 I took the scripture out of context. It means something other than what it says (context and implied meaning never supplied).
 I don't understand literary criticism
 It's an allegory, not literal.
 It's literal, not an allegory.
 Scripture is only transparent to those with a child's perspective
 Scripture is only transparent to biblical scholars
 I am not filled with the Holy Spirit
 That's the mystery of it all. "God works in mysterious ways"
 Man's mind is too puny to grasp the immensity of God's truth and justice.
 You were obviously never a "true christian"
 You don't have enough faith. You have to believe to understand.
 You can’t criticize the bible because you don’t believe or understand it.
 Why do we think we can pretend to know God?
 Scripture always interprets scripture
 Ever heard of biblical hermeneutics?
 You are not TRULY with truth and sincerity seeking God.
 You have to know how to translate Hebrew and Greek
 You are using a completely unsupportable transliteration of Scripture
 You have clearly not studied the ancient peoples who wrote those things or you would not come up with the conclusions you have.
 It takes humility to understand the Bible

 You have to be familiar with the technical terminologies in the bible before you can comprehend it.
 Even Satan can quote scripture.
