Well, it appears that the state will be sending out letters to all 4th tier subjects. these letters will be sent out on the 19th of this month. Monies will be released within three weeks of receipt of the Letters.

All individuals who filed an original EUC claim before the enactment of the new law will have their claims recalculated and sent a First-Tier EUC Monetary Redetermination. The new calculation will equal up to 80% of the individual's original maximum benefit amount (MBA), up to 20 weeks. The MBA balance may be reduced by the amount of EUC payments previously paid. Individuals will be paid the same weekly benefit amount (WBA) allowed on their most recent claim. The first payable week of First-Tier EUC will be the week of November 23–29, 2009.

What i don't understand is that the website says for 4th Tier you only receive 6 weeks? Am I missing something because I thought Congress passed the bill giving 20 weeks?

I think it may say 6 weeks because of the way the dates were set up on the bill. Unless Congress changes some things, we will only be eligible up till the end of the year so making it only 6 weeks. They are actively trying to change that from what I hear.

It says the first payable week is Nov 14 but letters are going out on the 19th. Keep certifying each week. I would think it will go back to this week when we start getting the pymts.

Last I heard they were trying to change the wording per se so we could get the total 20 weeks. Some members of Congress are trying to get unemployment extended all the way through 2010, we will see how that goes. Its just a matter of time on the latest extension though, we will get what they passed... At least I hope :)

I am assuming they are saying only 6 weeks because the SEB or State Extended Benefits was already given to us(3rd tier)when the government extension ended...so technically we are due 7 weeks not 6, but I am hoping you are correct when you say it is a problem they have to fix within the paperwork so we can get the additional FULL 20 weeks we SO NEED!! What the hell is 6 weeks going to d?!?! All of that paperwork for SIX WEEKS!!!! I was hoping they would not say because we already gave you an extension through the state we would only give you the difference remaining 7 weeks(not six).

I think it is a misunderstanding. Remember our third extension was the SEB. Now the 3rd tier would give us the first 13 weeks (Should be 14)which all states qualify for (technically Georgia's 4th extension, but the fed's 3rd) and the 4th tier would give us the 4th tier which is an additional 6 weeks which only high unemploy't states get. this would be GA's 5th extension
UNEMP 26WKS-->1ST TIER 20WKS--> 2ND TIER 13 WKS--> SEB 20WKS --> 3RD TIER 13WKS -> 4TH TIER 6WKS. Remember the law passed is for up to 20 weeks (14 weeks + another 6 for HI states), so if our unemp rate is still high when your individual 13 or 14 weeks is up, then you get the additional 6. I hope this is right, but it makes sense.

Oh yeah Shannon remember the governer had to agree to the SEB (state extended benefits) stipulations to get that money so it is really the state's debt whereas the other extensions are kinda sorta the fed's. At least let them tell it

This is correct however, congress must still change the date of Dec 26th 2009 in the wording of the "fourth" extension in order for anyone to get it. As it stands now, we will get the 13 week ext (should be 14) but our benefits will not be exhausted by Dec 26 in order for us to qualify for the next 6 week ext. They are working to change that though I believe.

So if what Felicia is saying is correct, the state website should say 20 weeks unemployment for 4th tier extension, why is it only saying 6 weeks?? What is 6 weeks going to do, that is a tease!! All of that paperwork for 6 weeks?!?! What is our government up to now, they say they are waiting until the November unemployment stats come out and if that is even 1/10 a percent higher they will not give anyone the rest of the 14 weeks. I guess if this is true congress made the wording of the bill trick so anyone who is eligible for 4th tier would only get paid through the end of 2009. They need to go back and approve for us to get the remainder of the 14 weeks into 2010 for most of us. Wow that is shady if that is true!!
