Deb, Believe me I am not responding to start an argument. Believe me I think we both have been on threads that we could argue with someone.

I just think that the lumping of all people who don't follow Christianity is truly unfair to call us all non-believers. That term has a wide and varying usage. There are people that do believe in God that don't follow Christianity. I am aware however that most Christians would say that if you don't believe in Jesus Christ then you are an non-believer. I just think that it is too narrow of a term.

I know that I run into the problem of not being part of the "Christian" gang and yet I don't fit into the "non-believers" either. I actually am able to take the best from both sides. Some would say that is riding the fence but how can it be when I don't claim nor do I try to be on one side or the other.

As far as miracles, I think they happen every day. Some are handed to use from whatever higher being that one choses to believe in and some are miracles that common everyday people play a hand in creating.

I have seen miracluous events occur that I would consider miracles and I have seen some small actions that I would also place in that miracle category. Where did they come from? I can't answer that but I do feel as if some of them are gifts that have been given to us so that we might as people know what life is and should be all about.

There are others though that come from people (Christian and non-Christian alike) that give hope that there is still good and decent human beings on this planet. People that give of themselves when others need them. These are the ones that give me hope that there is something out there way beyond ourselves.

I know this is not what you were probably looking for by the very name of this thread. I have also been reading your posts over on the "NO LONGER" thread. I am aware that you probably think of me as a "non-believer" one that never "believed". That is okay. I understand why you might think that.

I only posted here so that maybe you might think about the people that don't quite fit in to such narrow definitions of "believers" and "non-believers".

I hope that you get the responses to this thread that you seek. I also hope that it doesn't turn into the same that goes on in the other threads that we post in.

This thread's very title is not only judgmental, but it is yet another display of the utter arrogance of Christian fundamentalism. Y'all pretend to know what is in other peoples' hearts, and y'all pretend to know the mind of God, but in reality, you just make up anything you can to justify YOUR version of faith so you feel like a "real" member of the "club", and feel better about the choice you have made for yourself. I started this thread in order to point out that the people in the NO LONGER a Christian thread are NOT accurate in their title~
IF a person HAS tried Christianity~ and WAS a Christian... you don't step away from it.

I doubted Jesus as my saviotr for years on and off..tho' I never puiblicly said so.
I considered my self a Christian because I "HOPED IT WAS TRUE"..... but feared that Jesus WAS a "false God..." You know...like when we are told to NOT worship FALSE idols~
Long story KINDA' shorter..God removed ALLLLLL doubt!

Good thread. I agree with the title. If you ever really were a Christian, you don't just decide you aren't one anymore. If you are really a Christian, you wouldn't dream of no longer being one. Christians have a personal relationship with God. I've had too many positive things happen in my life that are too detailed and intricate to merely be coincidences. I've had too many prayers answered to ever dream there isn't a God. Oh, I have lots of questions and sometimes I doubt myself like we all do....and I question that I'm on the right path. I question a lot but the answers always let me know I'm on the right path and reaffirm. I question what I'm told and verify it in the Bible before I assume it is true. Ive been told many things that were off track over the years. It is not confusing if you check it out with the Bible before you consider it fact. There are a lot of false teachers out there so the responsibility is on every individual to seek the truth. If you don't, you will only be confused and think there are errors in the Bible. Bottom line is that if you want to know more, you can easily study the Bible. You will realize what a wise book the bible is if you read it in context. If you aren't interested, then you can create a thousand reasons why all christians are nuts. It won't do you any good to rationalize on judgement day. Your relationship with God has nothing to do with anyone else so you can't use anyone (how badly a christian may have treated you or if you don't like hypocrits)and their behavior as an excuse. You are responsible for YOU.
In this day and age, many people say the believe in God. Yep, so does the devil since he used to live in Heaven. So....that obviously won't get you to heaven. It is accepting Jesus that will get you there. Satan rejected Jesus, but he knows exactly who he is and "believes".
