This congress, including the NYS senators who voted away our freedoms as we inherited them from our revolutionary forefathers should all rot in fasist Hell.

God Bless America.

Our founding fathers didn't give women or slaves any freedoms... they mostly just gave freedoms to themselves.. most of them were plantation owners that had slaves. George Washington, for instance, had 300 slaves on his plantation at the time of his death.

Apparentl, "all men are created equal" doesn't mean that they stay away for long.

Our Founding Fathers were human, and therefore flawed. They were also a product of their time, carrying a lot of cultural bagage.

Despite this, they made a great leap forward in human freedom, even if it wasn't a perfect system. They should be admired for their acomplishments and forgiven their faults.

To have expected them to be perfect and to have created a perfect system is unrealistic.

Amen ozarkstar22 - er., ah., Comrade.

Lets support freedom around the world with American blood while eliminating it domestically?

Provides a clearer understanting why "The Founding Fathers" feared a powerful centralized form government and therefore limited the Federal government's powers, restricted its sources of revenue, provided state's rights, created three independent branches of government as a system of checks and balances and a Constitution to guarantee individual rights and freedoms in writing.

We now have an all powerful centralized government with unlimited ability to spend/tax everything. State representation has morphed into Federal control of State activities. The Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches have merged into one entity - eliminating any possibility of a valid system of checks and balances.

The Constitution?- Well let's just say that with the merger of our three branches of government - it is now interpreted in ways that are only beneficial to the Federal government's current political ideals.

As far as our guarnateed individual rights and freedoms? Well they are simply voided by any special circumstancs that fit the immediate need and are never re-instated. Afterall haven't we all repeatedly heard the "The Constitution, is just a work in progress and should be subject to change and re-interpretation".

"The People" that our "Founding Fathers" entrusted this nation to - have allowed it to evolve into the Nation they revolted against. If it's possible I'm certain that "The Founding Fathers" are turning over in their graves.

I had a poli-sci prof in college that said that whichever parth he voted for president, he voted for the other party for congress. He felt you would get more separation of powers that way. And laws that were better for the people.

Smart man.

HOW CRAZY IS THIS

Only 1% of the imports to the US are inspected. It seems that inspecting each and every container and box would be TOO EXPENSIVE.

I guess that the shirts manufactured in Pakistan for 30 cents, and sold at the Gap for $28.00 would now cost Gap $1.00, a 310% increase.

Would that really be so bad?
Shouldn't we now start inspecting every import container?

I can afford to let the Gap make 70 cents less on a 28 dollar shirt.

That would be a fitting sacrifice to make for the wAR oN tERROR.

It would be worth it for me to know that no weapons of mass destruction are being shipped in, labeled as 'flower pots.'

And, as a side effect, if American factories become more competitive, so be it.

It won't happen, though. We wouldn't dream of legitimately increasing the basic cost of imports; when it is much easier to give up the freedoms that hundreds of thousands of American Soldiers, over hundreds of years, have died to defend.

So, no to universal import inspections, but Yes to the 'PATRIOT ACT'
God Bless America.
