Margaret has done a good job! I am voting for Margaret. Jessica Roberts hasnt even advertised what she is going to do for this county. Just advertises about her and her family?

I cannot believe people would sit here and even think about supporting Margaret Matney. The only reason she has the job is because Darren Sipes was such a prick. She ran at the right time. From experience, I have nothing good to say about Matney. Her staff is inexperienced, and extremely rude. Read the paper! They asked both parties simple questions about the County Attorney position. It was like a first grader against a college student. Roberts is an extremely intelligent lady. Her roots are in Meade County! Matney is supported by Theresa Padgett, who keeps saying how many jobs she is going to bring to the county. If she is going to bring revenue to Meade County then why did she build a high class apartment complex in Hardin County? Do the right thing on November 2nd! Vote for Roberts! She will do the best job and that is what really matters.

It is important that a prosecutor be able to present a case successfully at trial. Neither Ms. Matney or her assistant is able to do that. Ms. Roberts is. Also, Ms. Roberts answers telephone calls promptly and if you want to see her about a case you can show up at her office and she will meet with you. I want a county attorney that is easily accessible and a good lawyer for the interest of the people.

It is also important that the people running for office talk about their qualifications instead of their connections. One good reason to NOT vote for Roberts is because "her roots are in Meade County" and she talks about it like it's her biggest asset. Do we want this county to grow? How can it if we discount everyone who can't trace their heritage back three generations? This is the 21st Century, and we're not in high school any more.

I don't care where either of them was born, raised, or attended school. Margaret is afraid of defense attorneys and police officers, she makes herself unavailable to citizens seeking her assistance (she has sat in her office and had her staff at the front desk deny her presence within the office!) and she cannot answer even simple questions for the fiscal court off the top of her head (that wasn't a problem when he started 4 years ago but shouldn't a person with a masters degree in public administration and a law degree be able to answer simple questions?) Jessica knows the law, she understands the rules of procedure (civil and criminal) having clerked in the Ky Supreme Court for Bill Cooper and she is a very successful trial lawyer. Jessica also takes time to talk to people who go to her office with questions or who call her on the phone and she CAN answer their questions and get the answer right.

by the way "viewer" if you don't understand the benefit to a community of having people in that community with deep roots who are willing (in spite of ill-considered criticism) to serve in public office then maybe you should not have relocated to Meade County because the people with those roots are the progeny of the folks who made this place a community that YOU wanted to live in

Margaret doesn't know what she's doing. Greta is rude. Martin and Tammy don't have a clue. They don't care about the public's needs. Jessica Roberts knows the law, has extensive experience in prosecution, and she's not afraid of anyone. She's outstanding in every way.

Jessica Roberts is a snob who can't even show enough enthusiasm about her candidacy to talk to people without reading the notes Kenton and Susan prepared for her. Her statistics are a joke and show that Margaret is not only doing the job, but doing it well. Wonder why only 60 felony child support cases went on to the circuit court? Maybe because Margaret gets people to pay their support. She's won an award for it. The same child support workers who were working for Darren are performing exceptionally well under Margaret. If Jessica wins, they'll be out of a job.

Here's a funny story about a felony child support case. Well, I guess it isn't so funny for the kids who aren't getting any support, but it definitely highlights the problem with Jessica's claims. So Margaret manages to get a guy arrested who's been running from a warrant for not paying his support. He's already got one prior felony child support conviction and one misdemeanor child support conviction. Margaret keeps him in jail and sends a new felony child support case up to circuit court to be prosecuted by the commonwealth attorney's office--the same office that has trained Jessica Roberts. Now this guy owes something like 10k or 15k in child support. He gets indicted. Then POOF! The commonwealth attorney's office--the same office that gave Jessica Roberts her "extensive experience in prosecution"--gives him probation and lets him out of jail. Guess what? The guy is on the run and has not paid a single penny of his child support.

So it's Jessica's fault that some sperm donor ran out on his kid? That doesn't make sense. Have you ever had to sit through court? It takes forever! You want to know why? Because Margaret's in there running her mouth and not getting cases done. Greta has a chip on her shoulder as big as a boulder. Both of them are rude and hateful. Their so called investigator is a joke. I'm sick of everyone blaming this candidate and that candidate for crap they can't control.(Please refer to the idiot former county attorney.) Stick to the facts. Judges do not make your kids get put in jail. Attorneys do not make deadbeats run off and leave their kids. BTW, if the point is for the guy to pay child support, couldn't he better do that outside of a jail? Duh!

Fact: Jessica works for the Commonwealth's Attorney--an office controlled for many years by Kenton Smith.

Fact: Kenton Smith has no control over district court as long as Margaret is in office.

Fact: Kenton Smith has a slate of candidates who worked for him: Jessica Roberts, Susan Streible, Shan Embry, and Steve Crebessa.

Fact: If Kenton Smith's candidates win, he will also control district court.

Fact: Jessica has no experience outside of the Commonwealth's Attorney office.

Fact: Jessica has never supervised employees.

Fact: Jessica has never managed a budget.

Fact: Jessica has not attended a single fiscal court meeting, except for a brief appearance on behalf of the Arts Council.

Fact: Jessica claims the current county attorney is not doing her job to collect child support.

Fact: The current county attorney has won awards for child support collection, which is a first for Meade County.

Fact: When faced with the facts, Jessica's people have nothing left but personal attacks.

As a matter of fact, I do hold Jessica and her office responsible for this guy skipping out. If her "extensive experience in prosecution" had been used correctly, the guy would be sitting in jail. Sure, paying support would be great. But when someone has a long history of not paying, he should be in jail. Come on. Jessica can't have it both ways. She says she wants to put the names of deadbeat parents in the newspaper to help catch them. What's she going to do with them when they get caught? Let them go again, that's what. She says Margaret isn't prosecuting enough felony child support cases. Look what happens when she does.

Just got a funny phone call. I've never sat in district court. I'm not a criminal or a lawyer, but my guess is Bubba is one or the other or both. Somebody just told me who he thinks Bubba is, and all I can say is retirement must be boring to sit on here and stir up crap. I know it is for me except I've got some leaves to mulch.

If Kenton Smith is so bad, then why did he hold his offices for so many years? Fact are facts! Margaret has done a terrible job and people know the real truth! The decision will be made on Nov. 2nd and the people will be heard! How has Margaret won an award when she has not helped the citizens of Meade County on a continued basis. I know from experience. Slams the door in your face!

We all know who Bubba is and it looks to me like he is desperate. Desperate to get his name off the sign halfway down the hill and on a door in the courthouse as assistant county attorney should Jessica win. I guess a post-retirement life of making it on your own doesn't provide the fanfare of an elected office, nor does it satisfy the hunger to have others under your thumb or to be able to throw your weight around. If you derive from that that you are respected, you are quite wrong. Respect isn't respect of YOU are the only one who thinks you have it. What a sad
and disturbing ego and it should speak volumes about him and his students/minions
who currently occupy the commonwealth
attorneys office.

Jessica Brown Roberts is the most qualified candidate for this position, considering she is from Meade County and has lived here all her life, is very important to our community. She is a fair and consistant person, which the County Attorney's office desperately needs.

Matney is covering up stuff. That crap about the child support......bull shit! Her secretary doesn't even know what she's doing. Dead beat parents NEED their names listed in paper. Everything else is in the local scandal sheets!

If Margaret and her staff are sooooo wonderful....why do I not have my child support! He is $8000.00 behind and they make excuses for him....no job, drawing unemployment.....nothing done.....get real!!!!
