Amid Heated Debate, Louisiana Lawmakers File Lawsuit to Suspend Common Core Standards
by Dr. Susan Berry 22 Jul 2014, 9:36 AM PDT 25 post a comment
Lawmakers in Louisiana filed a lawsuit Monday in Baton Rouge district court that seeks an immediate suspension of the Common Core standards in the state’s schools.
According to the Associated Press, the 17 legislators – 13 Republicans and 2 Democrats – argue in the suit that state education leaders failed to properly enact the controversial standards that have been the focus of a heated debate between Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and John White, state superintendent.
The lawsuit claims Louisiana’s Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) and the state education department failed to follow the state’s Administrative Procedures Act (APA) for implementing the Common Core standards.
The APA requires public notice, a 90-day comment period, and legislative oversight be provided prior to changes made to education standards in the state, but the lawmakers say these requirements were not met in the case of the Common Core standards.
“Unless an injunction issues herein by the Court, needless time and resources will be expended in the teaching, testing, learning, and financing of Common Core, all to the detriment of the citizens of Louisiana,” the lawsuit states.
BESE President Chas Roemer and Education Superintendent John White have planned a conference call to address the lawsuit’s claims.
“There are many statutes in Louisiana that require the use of the Administrative Procedures Act to implement a new rule,” Louisiana state Rep. Brett Geymann (R), one of the lawmakers who filed the lawsuit, told Breitbart News.“The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and Department of Education are not exempt from the APA and did not follow the law in implementing Common Core; therefore, they denied the public the opportunity to be a part of the process.”
“We are hopeful the court will rule Common Core invalid and we can move forward with developing our own standards with local control,” Geymann added.
Jindal, like other governors and lawmakers, once approved of the standards, but as more light has been shed on the federal government’s involvement in pushing the Common Core standards onto the states, many are now distancing themselves in one form or another from the unpopular nationalized initiative.
On Monday, The Advocate observed that the Louisiana Common Core debate had “mushroomed into the biggest education fight” in the state, according to veteran education officials.
In June, Jindal issued executive orders to remove his state from the controversial Common Core standards and the assessments tied to them. He based this move on the argument that the decision by the Louisiana Department of Education to sign onto the PARCC Common Core test consortium was unlawful because it bypassed the state’s procurement law which requires an open bidding process.
In response, BESE voted to hire legal counsel to challenge the Governor’s executive orders, claiming his actions were illegal and defiantly asserting that Louisiana “will implement the Common Core State Standards, as well as … PARCC for the 2014-2015 school year.”
Meetings between Jindal and White have failed to produce any terms of agreement in what appears to be a battle of unprecedented intensity.
“The longer BESE continues on this Common Core/PARCC path as a Board, it will continue to erode any trust in the ability of this Board to direct education in Louisiana and will bring more havoc to [the] lives of children, parents and teachers,” Wood said in an email statement.“After the July 1st meeting, it is undeniable that as a Board, BESE has no interest in protecting children, but it is only driven to protect its interests and agenda.”

Should be abolished everywhere in the USA.

Fifteen-year-old Pablo Alexander admitted to federal law enforcement officers that he had "murdered two rival gang members."
Jacob Alexander, 17, said he had been "involved in shootings/murder attempts" and was "not sure if people died."
The four teenagers all crossed illegally into the United States through Mexico this month before being detained by the Border Patrol in Texas. Without fear of retribution, they admitted past criminal behavior to law enforcement authorities in the United States. Their confessions were documented on an internal Department of Homeland Security "intake list" leaked to TheBlaze.
They traveled alone from Honduras and El Salvador, trying to reunite with their families living in the United States, according to the DHS document. Despite their admitted criminal histories, they will more than likely be released to family members with only "notice to appear" orders for immigration court.
None of them have been prosecuted; instead, they are being held at a temporary juvenile correctional facility located in Virginia, "until they are either released to a family member living in the U.S. or returned back to their homeland," a federal law enforcement officer told TheBlaze.
A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official told the TheBlaze that many minors with similar backgrounds are released to guardians living in the United States.
"It's odd but they come clean on their past criminal behavior because they know nobody's going to investigate or convict them of anything," the ICE official said.
"Some of these crimes happened in their home country and their local authorities won't be opening a case against them in places where murder is a daily occurrence," the official said. "I think these kids confess because they believe we'll know if they are lying -- like we have some NSA super mindreader on them. They also know that the gang members, murderers and bad guys who arrived before them were released as well. They don't fear us."
ICE spokeswoman Gillian Christensen told TheBlaze that once minors are apprehended, it's up to the Department of Health and Human Services' refugee resettlement office to decide "where they should be placed, even if they are considered violent."
A Health and Human Services spokesman could not be reached for comment.
TheBlaze is not releasing the full contents of the DHS document because the teens are minors who have not been convicted. They were housed with non-criminal children at detention facilities before being transferred to the correctional facility, and "this is a major concern for law enforcement and for the safety of the innocent and extremely young children we're picking up," the ICE official said.
There's no question in my mind gangbangers are coming across our borders so are murderers, drug runners, human traffickers and diseases all kinds.

Choosing Life Over Convenience
by Col. Rob Maness 22 Jul 2014, 9:13 AM PDT 11 post a comment
As the debate examining prohibiting late term abortions has unfolded, I can't help but think of my youngest grandson who was born a few years ago, weighing only 2 lbs 5 oz at 28 weeks. After his birth, I spent a lot of time with him in the neonatal intensive care unit, watching him grow stronger every day until he was able to finally go home with his family.
Witnessing the miracle of his birth and the struggle he had in those early weeks, it breaks my heart that anyone would have a problem with limiting late term abortions and abortions after 20 weeks.
Every child should have the opportunity at life, like my grandson did.
When did we become a country that celebrated abortion on demand and convenience over life?
Conservatives have been fighting for life since Roe v. Wade was handed down, and although we have been able to chip away at that life destroying decision, the battle will continue until every unborn life is protected.
My opponent in the Louisiana Senate election, Mary Landrieu, calls herself pro-life "with exceptions." She is going to have to explain this concept to me because there is no exception when it comes to life. You either believe in saving it or not.
It’s troubling to me that a candidate would run for re-election as a pro-life advocate with a record that doesn’t match this claim. The Louisiana Right to Life Federation gives Landrieu only a 27 percent score while she has a 100% pro-abortion record according to National Right to Life. She has also voted for a resolution that supports Roe v. Wade, the decision that made abortion in the United States legal.
So where does she really stand? Her record does not line up with her rhetoric.
Recently, Rasmussen found that more and more voters are identifying themselves as pro-life instead of pro-choice. This shows, that yet again, Landrieu’s priorities are not in line with the voters. Or even worse, she’s deliberately choosing to use a pro-life vocabulary to pander to pro-life voters, hoping no one will notice that her record doesn’t add up with her promises.
As a Senator, I will support our values, our families, and more importantly life. Without life we have no liberty. Life is our most basic right, the right from which all our other rights derive. Everyone has not only the right to life, but a responsibility to protect it, especially for those that can't protect themselves.
Rob Maness is a retired Air Force colonel, running for U.S. Senate in Louisiana. He was a commander in operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and his combat decorations include the Bronze Star and Air Medal.

What The IRS Now Wants To Do With 3,200 Hard Drives Would Be Laughable If It Wasn’t So Shady
751 Shares By Emily Hulsey 7 hours ago
The IRS sent a special notice out to contractors on Monday, saying that, due to “system changes,” it needed help with a special assignment: Destroying its employees’ hard drives. At least 3,200 of them.
Wait a second…This is the same department that is in the midst of a congressional investigation and whose unexplained record destruction practices are under intense scrutiny, right?
While you might expect an agency in the IRS’s current position to be hesitant to get caught destroying anything else that could be perceived as evidence, they really don’t seem to mind. The Washington Times reports:
While those questions remained unresolved, IRS officials signaled plans to destroy tens of thousands of additional electronic records.
“After all media are destroyed, they must not be capable of any reuse or information retrieval,” IRS officials stated in the contract papers.
Do you have enough life insurance coverage?
Promoted by New York Life
The agency estimates the need to destroy at least 65,464 magnetic tapes, 3,225 hard drives, 5,856 floppy disks and 708 reels, according to procurement records.
The Washington Times notes that “media destruction” is a routine way for the IRS to “protect sensitive taxpayer information.” However, given the IRS’s current investigation and the particularly large amount of data it says needs to be destroyed, something smells rotten.
The IRS and other agencies within the Obama administration are already using the hard-drive-was-destroyed excuse too often.
Just days ago, a top IRS official swore that the emails of former employee Lois Lerner, who is accused of targeting conservative groups, were wiped clean and cannot be recovered.
Also recently, senators received reports that an EPA official’s hard drive crashed,“just as congressional investigators began looking into questions about the EPA’s review of an Alaska mining project.” The timing is just too convenient.
If the IRS has managed to wait this long to destroy 3,225 hard drives and thousands of other files, why can’t it wait a bit longer until after Congress is finished with its investigation?
Do you really want your tax Information laying around some where? If you distrust the IRS then I would think the answer would be no. The Tax Reform Act of 1976 requires them to keep tax information private, destroying files that are no longer being used is the best way to do that and the sooner they do the less likely it can fall into the wrong hands (like politicians HAHA). Besides if a IRS employee wanted to destroy items such as Hard Drives they would do it anyways. Where there is a will, There is a way.

Sounds to me like they are updating technology, and they need to. If you want a more efficient and smaller government it has to be done. Their computers are so outdated they can't run updated operating systems and the software that's for sale now.

When I say updated I'm referring to newer than Windows 98. How many of you are still running Windows 98? If you are, try to buy software programs for it and see what is available.

Texas Sending National Guard to Border Is Good First Step, But a Long-Term Solution Still Needed

Gov. Rick Perry, R-Tex., will send around 1,000 National Guard troops to the Texas border under his gubernatorial authorities to help the Texas Department of Public Safety deal with the illegal immigration crisis. Before anyone screams that this is unprecedented or the radical militarization of the border, be assured it is not.

In 2006–2008, all four of the southwest border states had contingents of National Guard troops deployed to augment Customs and Border Protection’s Border Patrol assets. This was done without “militarizing” the border, and it was done with great effect. It was called Operation Jump Start.

The troops came as volunteers from National Guard units from across America. Each state organized its assets a little differently but did so in complete cooperation with federal agencies. The units provided surveillance, did logistics, and relieved Border Patrol agents from administrative jobs. This freed up every available officer for real law enforcement duties.

The enforcement of America’s laws was materially enhanced. No soldiers arrested anyone. The troops reveled in a “good” mission that directly helped their country, the Border Patrol was able to do its job, and the flood of illegal activity (immigration and others) was driven down.

Governor Perry would do well to use Jump Start as a model. It worked.

The major difference is that Operation Jump Start was directed from the presidential level. It was a result of national-level planning that included the state governments and allowed for flexibility and mutual cooperation. In the absence of national leadership, Texas must go it alone this time.

Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, which represents most Border Patrol agents, testified this past June that “nearly 40 percent of our manpower is being pulled from the field to perform duties such as processing and caring for those in our custody.” In the face of the present crisis, it is clear that Governor Perry needed to act to protect his state.

It is also important to note that this is not a long-term solution but just a stop gap. The military is not a cost-effective solution for long-term needs at the border. Even more critically, putting the National Guard on the border does nothing to deal with the root causes of illegal immigration: lax enforcement of immigration laws that encourage more illegal immigration and flawed foreign policies that have left willing partners in Central America twisting in the wind.

It will be interesting to see if the feds will attempt to interfere with an action that is well within Perry’s authority. The nation—especially other border states—will be watching.

Doctor: Unusual tropical diseases being carried into U.S. cities by illegal immigrants
Sunday, July 20, 2014 by: Jonathan Benson, staff writer
Tags: illegal immigrants, tropical diseases, U.S. cities
(NaturalNews) All those illegal immigrant children being shipped into the U.S. right now by the federal government are bringing with them exotic diseases that threaten everyday Americans, suggests a board-certified otolaryngologist. Dr. Elaina George, who specializes in ear, nose and throat conditions, told Newsmax that illnesses ranging from the common cold to tuberculosis are spreading all across the country, and that the situation represents a serious public health threat.
As the alien invasion continues, children from south of the border are being shipped from detention centers in Texas and California to various locations throughout the country. Some are being transferred by bus, while others are being boarded onto commercial aircraft used by ordinary travelers who face exposure to unusual diseases that, prior to this event, were virtually non-existent in the U.S.
"It's absolutely a health threat," stated Dr. George in an interview on Newsmax TV's The Steve Malzberg Show. "It's like a perfect pressure cooker... a culture medium if you really want to think about it in that manner -- a 1700 mile trek by foot, by train or however else they're coming up."
According to Dr. George, the children, many of whom originate from Central America, have weakened immune systems and are demonstrating serious symptoms that should be more of a cause for concern. Some of the children are wheezing, while others are coughing up blood, an indication that they are suffering from tuberculosis, a serious communicable disease.
"Not everybody shows symptoms right away, but they could have the disease before it actually manifests or shows itself," she is quoted as saying. "So they're just as infectious."
TSA allowing illegal immigrant children with diseases to board commercial planes without ID
Reports indicate that the alien children are being dropped off in places as far north as Maryland, as well as in Georgia and elsewhere, sparking outrage and protests. Citizen protestors have been particularly vigilant at a Border Patrol station in Murrieta, California, as well, where federal officials are currently housing immigrant detainees for processing to other locations.
"We either have an incredibly inept administration, or they're in on this somehow or another," stated Texas Governor Rick Perry to ABC's This Week. "I mean, I hate to be conspiratorial, but I mean, how do you move that many people from Central America across Mexico and then into the United States without there being a fairly coordinated effort?"
To make matters worse, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which routinely steals from paying travels while groping their genitals to guard against terrorists, is reportedly standing down for the alien children. None of them, says Dr. George, are being required to show identification before boarding commercial airliners bound for detention centers throughout the country.
"[The] TSA has been ordered to stand down and allow these children and adults to get on planes without ID," she said to Steve Malzberg. "So they're arriving in Georgia; they're arriving in Maryland; they're arriving all over the country."
Political discussion aside, Dr. George stresses that the disease threat from this ongoing invasion is a very tangible concern that could have disastrous consequences for public health. A potential tuberculosis outbreak in Maryland, for instance, has already been reported after students were exposed to an infected immigrant child -- and other "tropical diseases," she says, pose similar threats.

"My problem with this is that the government has no regard for us as American citizens," she lamented. "My dad was an immigrant [and] I am not against legal immigration at all. But the way this is being done [is] haphazard, and it's all about winning at any cost and it's political strategy without regard for health."

Report: Ansar al-Sharia Had a House Near Benghazi Compound

by John Sexton 22 Jul 2014, 2:41 PM PDT 8 post a comment

Since the attack in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 there have been reports that the militants who attacked the compound seemed very familiar with its layout. Today, Fox News' Adam Housley reported new information that may help explain why.

Housley reported this morning that sources with knowledge of the situation say Ansar al-Sharia rented a house very near the compound which became the U.S. Consulate. The source tells Fox News, "We warned D.C. about the guys who moved in next door, but nobody knew what to do and nothing was done."

Months before the attack on the U.S. site, Ansar al-Sharia held a kind of military parade in Benghazi, riding through the streets in trucks mounted with weapons. Despite this and a series of attacks on western targets in the city, the State Department continued to take a lax approach to security at the U.S. compound.

Housley's sources also indicated the consulate had requested sandbags and a belt-fed machine gun weeks before the attack. When asked about this yesterday, State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said the claim sounded "dubious." By the following morning the State Department had contacted Fox to say that a machine gun had been requested and that the request was being considered on the day of the attack.

Here's is Housley's video report from this morning on America's Newsroom:

Nearly all of the illegal immigrant children who have been apprehended along the U.S.-Mexico border in the last two years have been teenagers.

According to a new Pew Research report, in fiscal year 2013, 91% of illegal immigrant "children" apprehended at the border were teenagers. Of the nearly 60,000 illegal immigrant "children" who were apprehended since October of last year, 84% have been teenagers.

Pew obtained the government figures through a Freedom of Information Act request, and the numbers paint "the first publicly available detailed portrait of the age and home country of child migrants —unaccompanied and accompanied – caught at the U.S.-Mexico border from Oct. 1, 2012, to May 31, 2014."

Pew also noted that while the number of children ages 12 and younger who have been apprehended has increased, "the number of apprehensions of children who are accompanied by a parent or guardian has increased at a far faster clip, nearly tripling (160% increase) in less than a year." According to the data, "in the partial fiscal year 2014 data provided, 22,069 accompanied children were apprehended, up from just 8,479 during all of the previous fiscal year."

There have been nearly 60,000 illegal immigrant children who have crossed the border since October of last year, and federal officials estimate at least 150,000 more will enter the country in the next fiscal year. The number of illegal immigrant children entering the nation from Central America drastically spiked after President Barack Obama enacted his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that gave temporary amnesty to certain DREAMers in 2012. The murder rate in Central American nations declined since then.

Texas state Senator Dan Patrick said law enforcement officers have said somewhere between one in five and one in 10 illegal immigrants are actually apprehended, which means there could be nearly 300,000 illegal immigrants who have snuck into the country undetected since October of last year. Patrick also noted that Texas has 100,000 illegal immigrant gang members and there are more illegal immigrants entering the state each week than people who are born in Texas during the same time period.

Megyn Kelly Breaks Down Why We Won’t See The White House Help Persecuted Christians Anytime Soon

As ISIS continues to persecute Christians in Iraq it announced a terrifying ultimatum for those who remain: Convert to Islam, leave, pay an impoverishing tax, or die by the sword.
As awful as this is, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, explains on The Kelly File that something just as fundamentally wrong is happening in the Oval Office:
This administration has been silent continuously when Christians have been persecuted…[it] is more concerned about offending Islamic states and Islamic nations than they are of defending the long standing policy that America has always had — that religious freedom is a human right, not just an American right… I’m not sure what’s more shocking, the atrocities of ISIS or the silence of the Obama administration.”

Respect is key to a successful relationship between nations. But, is it right to continually wave a white flag of passivity under the guise of tolerance or in the fear of giving offense, when those nations are so blatantly not showing the same respect to their own people?
By default, a double standard has been created for what basic humanitarian rights mean, both in America and overseas. This needs reevaluation, ASAP.

The whole idea of asymmetrical warfare is to defeat your enemy from within. It is not to attack him from without. Of course the threat comes from without, but they have to be inside of the US to effect a successful warfare strategy.

If asymmetrical warfare is going to be successful, the first thing that has to be done is to compromise America’s defenses against invasion, because they have to have their personnel inside the United States to affect the infrastructure: our hospitals, our schools, our electric grid, our power supplies our water supply – basically what we call “infrastructure.” All of those things create our infrastructure – but they have to affect the degeneration from inside the United States.

The markers that we’re seeing that indicate this is “asymmetrical warfare” is because the reaction that the United States is taking is they’re taking the opportunity of inviting these illegal aliens to come here, they’re concentrating them in one place in the United States, the Rio Grande Valley, and they’re drawing the resources that are protecting the rest of the US border to care for the illegal alien children, to help with the overflow of the minors, to transport, to take care of the needs of these people while they’re in Homeland Security custody.

All this takes the resources that are protecting America at the border, off of the border. So now the borders are wide open. This gives people that are trying to get their infrastructure, their personnel, their drugs, their dirty bombs, their biological weapons, their chemical weapons into the United States without being noticed because this part of the border is open, it is not being controlled.

It is a perfect military strategy. It doesn’t raise any eyebrows because we’re focused on the children, but we need to focus on our children, because this is asymmetrical warfare. Everything says it is. And the way the United States government is responding to it is concealing that fact from the American people.

In other words they’re assisting in the downfall of America, and you need to understand that.
