FYI:
First lady Michelle Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry will be giving the International Women of Courage Award to 10 recipients.

Award ceremony will be held this Friday at the State Department, with one of the recipients named as Samira Ibrahim. This recipient has been widely accepted as a courageous "model" for the world to recognize and acknowledge, for women to emulate.

But, there are other more concerning attributes this woman holds dear to her heart. She supports suicide bombings against Israel and openly used her twitter account to express joy and pleasure when 9/11 happened in America. She continues to support violence against America and against jews who according to her all negative things that happen in the world have jews involved.

Just who is responsible for vetting these people?

Until the anti-abortion crowd advocates robust education and access to contraception as a solution to the problem, they can be written off an nothing more than a bunch of puritanical, sex-obsessed hypocrites. It's been proven time and again, even quite recently in Texas, that education and access to contraception is *THE* best, most effective solution to reduce abortions. Yet, it's almost invariably the *ONE* thing the anti-abortion peeps insist can't be a solution.

To almost all of them, the conception, the unborn baby, is an abstract concept of purity, perfection, and innocence. But the truth is, biological reproduction is an extremely messy, imprecise, low-yield process. Well over 6 Million unborn babies (if you include all the conceptions that never even implant) die in the US every year from natural causes, without human intervention. It's a 6:1 ratio compared to human-induced unborn baby deaths.

Any given conception has a roughly 70% chance of failure, without human intervention. It's hardly something to hold up as an example of purity and perfection.

If you want to reduce abortion, get behind education and access to contraception. Otherwise, we know you're not really interested in reducing abortions, but just punishing people for having sex.

GOP is pro-life, but once you are born they are pro-death. funny how that works.

GOP'ers protect the 'fetus,' but CUT programs that help children in need!

1. Not for a lack of trying. How much effort has the party of rape, racism and religious fundamentalism put into creating jobs? Practically nothing? How much effort into cutting off Planned Parenthood and redefining rape as "forcible rape"? A lot.
2. The fundamentalist churchgoers who make up the backbone of the GOP's Taliban-like base are some of the most hypocritical, immoral people imaginable. The only way you arrive at this calculation is by including the contributions these sheep make to their hate churches. I'm sorry, I don't think that sports cars for televangelists and Baptist hate preachers are a "charity".

Something wrong with the Oklahoma republicans ...

So it's ok to be a hate-filled, racist, anti-woman, pro-rape party that hates government intrusion into their personal lives except for their bedrooms ....

All as long as you give $$$ to the church?

The problem is regressive states, like Oklahoma, will try to force women who can't afford another child to bear it, but when it comes time to extend Christian charity to help house, clothe, feed or educate the child, these legislators are missing in action. Why care about an infant in the womb when you're too ready to abandon it once it's born?

Justaminute don't you realize how unhealthy your behavior is and you've taken it beyond excessive. Your opinions have been posted and people have responded to you. But to continue to flood the thread pretending you are other people it's bizarre. Please consider you actions.

Both abortion bans now stand as a direct challenge to the 1973 Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade that protects a woman’s right to choose and her privacy in making such decisions. The ruling clearly states that abortion can only be regulated after the point when a fetus can survive outside of the womb. The Court, and science, says that point occurs at week 23 or 24. Therefore, both Arkansas laws are plainly unconstitutional.

A shocking study from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) reveals that the number of radical, right-wing hate groups in the United States has quadrupled — TWICE — during the past four years. In his video report, author and SPLC Senior Research Fellow Mark Potok warns that this significantly increases “the potential for domestic terrorism,” recommends a nationwide crack-down on hate groups, and urges top federal law enforcement officials create a task force to assess the threat.

Capping four years of explosive growth sparked by the election of America’s first black president and anger over the economy, the number of conspiracy-minded antigovernment “Patriot” groups reached an all-time high of 1,360 in 2012, while the number of hard-core hate groups remained above 1,000. As President Obama enters his second term with an agenda of gun control and immigration reform, the rage on the right is likely to intensify.

Here in the Mid-South we saw growth, but it was different than in other parts of the country. The election of the nation’s first black president and the crumbling of our economy is why the SPLC blames an astronomical growth in extremist groups. Here in Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas, those groups aren’t dominant, the SPLC found growth in traditional hate groups.

Um … so nowadays we have “traditional” hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, which seem all warm, fuzzy, and wholesome as apple pie compared with these new-fangled hate groups like the Aryan Terror brigade? YIKES!

Social media makes it easier for these groups to organize, which explains why Preston’s beat in Memphis, TN can expect strong turnout for the upcoming Klan Rally on March 30th, even though it’s illegal for them to wear their traditional (and anonymizing) hoodies:

It used to be hard to advertise a Klan rally. Most printers would not print pamphlets even if you had the money. Then you would have to pass them out, which could be dangerous and someone might sock you in the nose.

his is simply a case of "Chickens coming home to Roost". When I was out working on the Obama campaign as far back as 08 the hostility of some of our fellow citizens was amazing. And it doesn't help that we have a 24/7 hate machine like Fox and the right wing radio nutcases to stoke the flames non stop!

I see you've been busy while I grabbed a bite to eat with friends. No one is fooled that posted any time at all on this thread. We know who you are and you make yourself a laughingstock by your own actions. The fact you could even bring the subject of unborn children up shows how disconnected with reality you are. I used to sorta feel sorry for you but that has passed. I believe you are a sick, heartless evil bitch of a woman. You murdered you own unborn child because in your words "it wasn't convenient".

Your very presence is offensive to me. How sad for those who call you family.

I understand that many Americans do not know that the recently deceased Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez was instrumental in extending generous aid to struggling American families. A program he enacted enabled them to get free heating oil, critical for the winter season. This heating oil program has been ongoing since 2005 after poor families were unable to cope with the crushing heavy handedness of Republican policies and outright incompetence under former President George W Bush.

In the aftermath of disasters Katrina and Rita, the cost of heating oil for American families increased due to decreases in available oil supplies. There was only one company which answered the call for help by struggling families in need of heat during the winter season of 2005 and beyond, all with the blessing of Mr. Chavez. This company is CITGO.

““The CITGO-Venezuela Heating Oil Program has been one of the most important energy assistance efforts in the United States. This year, as families across the Eastern Seaboard struggle to recover from the losses caused by Hurricane Sandy, this donation becomes even more significant,” said CITGO President and CEO Alejandro Granado.“This energy assistance program is an integral example of the humanitarian principles endorsed by the CITGO ultimate shareholder, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A.(PDVSA), the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

hrough the assistance program, CITGO and partner PDVSA has donated more than 227 million gallons of heating oil costing more than 465 million dollars, to needy American families. The program serves 25 states including Alaska, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Indiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Oregon…here is a link to the complete list.

While those in the right-wing celebrate the death of Mr. Chavez I wonder if they are reflecting on who will be willing to donate free heating oil to their states now that he is gone… or are they going to become ‘socialists’ and expect the Obama administration to give them some government help?

And who says the United State of America isn't a third-world country?

As a matter of fact, most of us ARE aware of Chavez' program..does that outweigh his blatant power grabs and attempts to rig elections? If Chavez had been born in the U.S., he would have been Romney's running mate last year..
