I agree with Packing Heat's statement of #35341. When he said a person can move on and get better paying jobs if that want it bad enough. He mentioned construction, labor, roofing, welding. This would have worked up until I would say the the 90s. Before the 90s the US citizens did do construction, labor, roofing welding and then all of a sudden from the 90s till now you don't see many people that were born here doing these jobs anymore. You go to any housing development and over 95% will be Mexicans doing the framing, roofing labor, welding, bricking, laying the cement and on down the line. When we built in 2002 the only people that showed up to work was Mexicans. My oldest son just built a new home and 95% of the workers were Mexicans. I know people say it is because Mexicans work for less. But I really don't think that is the only reason. I 2 sons that work for a major construction /remodeling company and over the worker and can hire and firer the employees. They pay the same wages to Mexicans as they pay any white person or anyone else. This company pays top dollar wages and benefits. Both sons say that the Mexicans are more reliable in showing up for work and get the job job done right. so what is wrong with this picture. This tells me that are people either has gotten lazy and just don't care or they expect a free ride no matter how little they do.

It will be interesting to see just what happens to the economy with Obamacare kicking in and now minimum wage going up. I am willing to bet unemployment reaches a new all time high.

Some people have gotten very lazy and/or that expect a free ride mentality. Mexicans, whether legal or not are for the most part very dependable hard workers. You say it will be interesting to see what happens when Obamacare kicks in fully and I agree it will be very interesting to see. My thoughts are, it is designed to fail as well as collapse our current system to force a single-payer system in its place. Regardless, it will result in the most extreme rationing in our history and total bankruptcy. One only has to look at the fiscal shape of Medicaid and Medicare now to see the reality of what will happen.

Before President Obama’s health care law was enacted, unfunded obligations for federal health programs totaled $65 trillion over a 75-year period. The most recent Senate Budget Committee staff estimates show that after the law’s passage, that figure has grown by $17 trillion, to $82 trillion.
http://budget.senate.gov/republican/public/in...

But I am like you, it will be interesting to watch this all play out. One thing is absolutely going to happen and has been, the poor people will continue to get poorer and those of us with money will continue to profit from their misfortune as they sell off their belongings to just survive. And yes you can expect unemployment to skyrocket.

I believe the goal was always a single-payer system but again the elderly and infirmed will be the ones suffering with Obama's Experiment in socialism.

Those hit so hard from the lack of jobs are selling anything they can get their hands on to pay for daily necessities like groceries. It saddens me to see american families struggle so hard when it doesn't have to be that way. I know of one young family where the father and mother both had good jobs with what they though was a secure future. In 2008 the family purchased a sharply reduced home so this family took advantage of the collaspe of the housing market. In 2009 the wife lost her job then shortly after her husband is notified the company he had worked for 12 years was closing it's doors. Desperately both husband and wife tried to find replacement jobs there was nothing available that came close to paying what their family needed to maintain what they had. Did this family over spend? No they didn't both had good paying jobs and their monthly expenses were easily paid by her job alone which allowed them to use the husband's income for savings for college for their two boys and retirement savings for them. This was a family playing by the rules and being responsible. In 2012 after having their home on the market for approximately 3 years, they loose their home and have to move in with her parents, everything they both worked so hard for is gone. The home they lost is still sitting empty. Is this just a sad story that happens rarely? No, it's a story that is being told in every community over and over again.

The American Dream is barely on life support.

Hello Ms. Misty, good to see you dropped by! I kinda quit posting there for a while then I started reading some of the post again and low and behold there you were again!

I agree the direction Obama is taking this country is backward not forward and it will damage this country to point I worry if it will ever return to greatness. The sequestration which is coming soon and was the idea of the White House to implement will destroy whole industries which kills what jobs are left.

God I feel for the young family you posted about and your right I know of people in my small community that have lost everything. So far I've had steady employment and so has my wife, we have been blessed. But things are so bad that it's always in the back of your mind whether your job is secure.

I guess Pres. Obama just not give any thought to the American Citizens that are struggling like the family you talked about. He needs to spend more time on giving the American Dream back the our American Citizens!

A few years ago G.H.W.Bush spoke alot about a NWO. Each president since has done their part in acheiving this.

The Bilderburg group meets once a year or two, they set policy on ways to accomlish the U.N. Angenda 21.

So it realy does'nt matter who the president is the angenda has already been set.

They want to de-industrilize the US and dis-arm us.

Ain't that sad. Bought a house, lost a job, lost the house.
That's tough, but that's reality. They should have had
savings. Clearly they couldn't afford their life.

Are you stupid? Clearly the post said these individuals lived off savings for 3 years most folks do not have over 6 month living expenses much less a year worth of savings.

What a azzhole.

You are correct, that was and remains the goal as well as the liberal agenda to destroy the insurance industry and all of free-market capitalism. Then round up all wealthy people, take their money and laugh at them. What has been happening and will continue to happen is people like me get a bigger piece of pie and as you say:

“again the elderly and infirmed will be the ones suffering with Obama's Experiment in socialism.”

If you recall Obama had mentioned this but the video is definitely worth a revisit.

“Jane Sturm told Barack Obama that her mother had needed a pacemaker implanted at 100 years of age, but got denied by the first doctor she saw. She found a doctor who would do the surgery, impressed by her spirit.”

When Sturm asked Obama if her mother would have received a pacemaker under ObamaCare …Obama said this
“I don’t think that we can make judgments based on peoples’ spirit,” Obama said.…“Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking painkillers.“

The story of the family you mention is told all to often all across America for way too many families. Under Obamacare, Life Support for the American Dream is not covered for those that don‘t already outright own it.

TAMARA,
The American Dream for natural citizens is of no concern to Obama and his henchmen.

“After saying that Democrats don’t begrudge success that’s “fairly earned,” Obama then ad-libs and reveals more about himself than he probably wanted:

“We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy.”

Yes I do remember that video and to me it was just a brief glimpse of the true agenda they have for the elderly. Reduced availablity of healthcare and denied healthcare due to age instead we'll medicate you and "manage" your ailments until you die. How can anyone think that is improved healthcare?

The Democratic Party is so far left it's not even recognizable for people who were Democrats during JFK administration...Obama represents the opposite of what JFK's beliefs in his administration.

You are right in saying the Democrat party is nothing like it was under JFK. In fact both parties are unrecognizable. I'll go one step futher and say this country is becoming unrecognizable.

It take a pretty stupid person to say we will mange an illness with pain killers and say it to an elderly person or a love one of an elderly person. All I have to say is at the time my parent were sick and died 6 month apart in 93 and so one would have said that to me I probably would have been arrested for letting that person know what I thought of that idea.

My mother passed in 2004 and my dad died in a car crash in 2008. It's a solace to me that they didn't see where this country has fallen. Dad died in September prior to Obama's first term so he was spared watching this country be demantled. Dad was a WWII vet and he still got tears in his eyes when the National Anthem was sung at a football game.

America is no longer a country I recognize and it's shocking how quickly things have changed. It took a lot longer to build this country than it will take to ruin it. Liberals are so proud of where this President is taking this country it's like everyone of them is devoid of common sense.

I didn't agree with Bush spending but I know he signed legislation which had pork barrel spending just because it was attached to something he felt was vital. Then the bailouts on financial market for companies like AIG which still owes money even their CEO Buffett owes money from 2004 if I remember correct on his taxes but Buffett touted Obama because it was politically advantageous to him to do so. I personally don't think a company is to big to fail and I don't believe a CEO who runs his company into the ground should receive one penny in bonus money. GM Volt which has huge investments is a flop all the Solar Companies that have gone belly up without producting anything for the investment including NO JOBS. The housing debacle can be laid directly on the democratic party especially two senators Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd but both will retire in the lap of luxury instead residing in club fed.

I've stated many times in the past my displeasure with both parties and I think congress would be better off to fire just about every democrat and republican and start over.

As you can see I'm not politically correct!

@misty, don't hold back little lady just tell us what you really think!...just kidding, lol.

I didn't care for Bush to much and didn't agree with having a war on the nations credit card. But since Obama has come in it been crazytime in the USA. Look at our debt and look at our unemployment rate and then take a minute to realize this isn't going to work but the President smiles and tell us he has a vision and a plan if only we tax the rich and make evil corporations pay higher tax rate and with ObamaCare the middle class will not only survive but will gain in the new economy he's creating.

Oh yeah, Really? What I see is high taxes for everyone including the retired and the hard hit middle class and now they have NO JOBS created to replace all those that were lost. Cost of living is horrible, just go buy groceries, gas for your car, healthcare prems and dont forget utilities have all gone a way up since 2008.

The White House idea of sequestration is looming and will go into effect in March. OMG, if this happens overnight whole industries will be closing their doors what is that going to do about jobs? What is that going to do for the more tax money needed to pay the national debt down?

Obama is so out of touch he was trying just recently to sell to the public the need in raising paychecks for federal employees....what a idiot!

But hey life is good, President Obama spent the day golfing with his buddy Tiger Woods, I guess those private golfing lessons that cost $1000 dollars an hour really helped his golf game....yeah life is just peachy!
