Just came across this online. Erwin Cain's brother-in-law gave a sworn testimony and interview that Erwin Cain sold and used drugs, including cocaine and marijuana. Is this true? Will Erwin Cain come clean?

Bobby Phillips, Jr. is the brother-in-law of Erwin Cain, the Republican candidate who is challenging State Reprsentative Mark Homer in House District 3. In the sworn deposition video posted below, Mr. Phillips states that he met Erwin Cain in October of 1977, when he was engaged to Erwin's sister, Gloria Cain. Erwin Cain was the best man at their wedding, which occurred in Longview, Texas. Mr. Phillips states that the two had a "pretty close friendship."

The statements are backed up by the sworn testimony, which you can download a PDF of here. We also present the sworn deposition below as a matter of public record.

Attorney: What was he doing to make a living at the time?

Phillips: Selling drugs and vacuum cleaners.

Attorney: Well that's kind of an odd combination. Was one more prevalent than the other?

Phillips: I guess the drugs would be more prevalent.

Attorney: Did you ever see Mr. Erwin Cain sell drugs?

Phillips: Yeah, I've seen him deliver to his brother-in-law, to his brother, and to other people that came by the house when he was there.

[Intercedeing conversation about what kind of drugs were sold. Mr. Phillips says Erwin Cain's specialty was marijuana, and he sold drugs to make money. Mr. Phillips said he got to know Erwin's brother, Thomas, during the time he knew Erwin, that Erwin brought him about an ounce of weed to his bachelor party.]

Attorney: Do you know where Thomas Cain, Jr. is?

Phillips: In the grave.

Attorney: Do you remember about when he died?

Phillips: I think it was around '82,'83, somwhere in there?

Attorney: And do you know where he was when he died?

Phillips: He was in Houston.

Attorney: And do you know anything of the circumstances surrounding his death?

Phillips: My understanding he got some, he got an 8-ball from his brother...

Attorney:--which brother would that be?

Phillips:--Erwin. And he went to try and find a vein on my sister and couldn't find a vein on my sister so he gave it to himself and subsequently it killed him.

Attorney: What's the source of your information for that statement?

Phillips: My sister, Virginia.

Attorney: What is an 8-ball?

Phillips: I'm not for real sure, but I think it's like seven or eight grams of cocaine or meth or something like that.

Attorney: Just to clarify, and let me repeat -- it's your statement that you have seen, in the past, a man you can identify as Erwin Cain use marijuana.

Phillips: Yes.

Attorney: Have you ever seen him use any other illegal substances?

Phillips: Seen him snort coke.

Attorney: Have you, and is it your statement also that you have seen him sell marijuana to someone?

Phillips: Yeah.

Attorney: And I'm not just talking about giving it to a friend to share a joint...

Phillips: No, I've seen money change hands.

Attorney: And has this been on one or more occassions?

Phillips: More occassions.

Does anyone know where this Bobby Phillips character is even from?

Why won't Cain answer the allegations. If they aren't true, than it should be easy to deny them....sounds fishy to me.

Bobby Phillips is from Longview originally. He married Erwin's sister when she was 16 and he was 21. The best man was Erwin. That happened in the late 70's...1977 IIRC. Erwin's brother was named Thomas Edison Cain. There is a Thomas Edison Cain, Jr. who is in prison for murder but I am unsure if it is the same family. I personally couldn't care less. I suppose we all have family we would like to forget. :)

Cain does not deny Phillips' allegations

Cain basically admits everything in the interview is true! Cocaine Cain, he seriously can't be elected!

Press release issued by Mount Pleasant Police Department Captain Robert G. Vine) On Friday, October 1, 2010, Mount Pleasant Police Officers, arrested Brian Ashley Whitfield, 31, of Mount Pleasant, on an outstanding felony warrant for theft.

This arrest took place in the 200 block of North Madison. This arrest was the culmination of an investigation conducted by Detective Scott Wildey and began back in May of this year.

At that time, the Mount Pleasant Police Department had received numerous complaints from local businesses alleging Whitfield had stolen money from them.

Throughout the investigation, 17 separate complainants, all local businesses, were confirmed to be victims by Detective Wildey, with the dollar amount totaling over $4,000, allegedly stolen by Whitfield.

Due to the large number of complainants involved with this case and the large amount of information that needed to be gathered from each, the investigation into this alleged offense was a rather lengthy one.

Detective Wildey conducted a solid investigation and represented the department well in serving the local business community the way he did his job.

After being presented with the case file, Titus County District Attorney, Charles "Chuck" Bailey, issued a complaint and the complaint was then taken to the office of Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, Paula Dyke, where a warrant was issued for Whitfield’s arrest.

This particular offense is a state jail felony. If convicted, Whitfield could face confinement in a state jail for not more than two years and not less than 180 days and/or receive a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Whitfield may also be facing future charges pending investigation.

(Vote for Cain. This reporter who wrote these false accusations is not even credible. That was not even a court ordered deposition which proves the man was paid to do it in my opinion. Homer has sex offender and a reporter in trouble as his endorsements.)

Well, of course, there are always TWO sides to a story.

I can't imagine NE Texas having corrupt lawyers and police officers, but it is possible.

In the late seventies or early eighties I smoked all of my share of pot and part of some others'. This said That was about thirty years ago. George W. Bush did drugs in the seventies and early eighties. We elected him president.

It was a different time. The Eagles had long hair and sang about drugs. Charlie Daniels cursed and raised hell in his music.

I would bet Mark Homer at least tried drugs way back when. Let's talk about something that isn't from his misspent youth.

So we are to believe a story posted on the blog of a felon Mr. Whitfield, who by the way is trying real hard to establish himself as a legitimate reporter. Also, Bobby Phillips is a pedophile sex offender. Really? Come on, Mark is really desperate.

When Cain had a chance to deny the claims he elected to not want to talk about what he did.All he had to do was say no.I think Mr Phillips is the one twlling the truth.Wouldn't be the first lie Cain has told.
