Sessions’ motion failed on a 46 to 54 party-line vote, with North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan crossing the aisle as the lone Democrat to vote with the Republicans.

“Reid’s majority just voted to keep pension cut for vets instead of cutting welfare payments to illegal aliens,” a Sessions aide emailed.

Are you SERIOUSLY claiming that burning coal and other dead plants and animals isn't bad for the environment?
I am saying there is no evidence that manmade Co2 is causing a catastrophic rise in global temperatures, and therefore we should not be basing policy on "theories" that have been shown to be WRONG. Their prediction have been WRONG. I am all for economically reasonable and senseable environmental regulations, but I will not be silent while they regulate away our cheap energy that has helped build this country into the great country it is, based on junk scientists predictions who are continually proven WRONG.

George. You are mother f*cking scum. You sound like a retarded child on a broken record.

You've been proved wrong and made to look like a fool time and time again on this thread.

Global warming is real and man made CO2 has been 100 percent proven by the scientific community to be the cause.

There is absolutely no way anyone with half a brain would even attempt to argue otherwise.

That statement is right up there with "If you like you health plan, you can keep it, period." as one of the biggest lies of the year. I doubt you could find 1 credible scientist on the planet that would agree with that claim, pure unsubstantiated nonsense.

Good morning. Let's talk republicans. Lol

1. A Socialist wrote the Pledge of Allegiance.
2. Jesus healed the sick and helped the poor, for free.
3. Joseph McCarthy was an un-American, witch hunting lunatic.
4. Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee were traitors.
5. The South lost the Civil War, get over it.
6. The Founding Fathers were liberals.
7. Fascism is a right-wing trait.
8. Sarah Palin is an idiot.
9. The Earth is round.
10. Reagan raised taxes eleven times as President.
11. Reagan legalized abortion as Governor of California.
12. Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency.
13. Ronald Reagan supported gun control.
14. Global warming is real.
15. Republicans hate illegal immigrants, unless they need their lawns mowed or their houses cleaned.

Pick one, if not, I have more.

We have no idea what a "catastrophic" rise is - maybe it's 3 degrees and the ocean currents stop, shoving Europe into an ice age. Maybe it' 2 degrees. We know it's risen 1.7 degrees. And it it's still rising.

What is it about our energy you think is "cheap?" Even if we pretend that coal is really just Reese Cups and Lollipops and does no damage whatsoever, it isn't cheap by any stretch. The costs of recovery is immense in dollars and lives. It's transportation is equal in cost in both. It's environmental impact is the most expensive of any fuel. Cheap energy is solar. It's free, and once developed, it's everlasting.

You truly sound foolish when you use polluters' comments to claim the entire global science community is "proven wrong." You cite one piece of data out of millions - that the earth's air temperature hasn't risen in 15 years. And you base your entire argument on it. That isn't just bad science, that's ignorant. 15 years is a second in climate terms. Meaningless.

No rational person is even proposing ending all fossil fuel use. There are two camps - one accepts the science and proposes ways to cut pollution. The other denies fact and literally pretends there is no ill effects to pollution. You'll claim to be in the middle, but it doesn't exist. You either agree that we must develop new technologies and face the fact that natural resources are a dirty, antiquated, inefficient means of producing energy or you think we should we should bury our heads in the sand and burn it till it's gone.

You're a member of the first group. You know we need to invest in new energy sources. So stop making yourself look like a fool by denying undeniable facts and promote a logical weaning from fossil fuels. That's what the rest of us, and scientists, are doing. Whether you agree with the science or not doesn't matter - all rational people are aiming for the same goal.

Elizabeth Warren. She may fundamentally change this nation's economy. I gave money to Hillary already, and I'm beginning to think I jumped the gun. Warren has the only ideas to change income inequality, which remains the structural problem with our economy. She's radical enough to do it, she's a good enough politician to get elected and the perfect storm may come in 2016 with a laughable GOP primary and a Warren-Clinton battle to the death over the economy. Hillary's an immovable force and she's about 40 times more liberal than Obama, but if she has a weakness, it's in domestic economy. And NO ONE IN THIS NATION is more qualified and has more wins for the middle class than she, save, of course, for Barack Obama.

But Hillary may be just too tough to beat, and Warren may be the candidate in 2020. Yes, 2020 - Hillary will not seek a second term, and will announce her intentions to do so early in her campaign. She will enter to put the final nail in the coffin of the dilapidated GOP, appoint two liberal justices to safeguard women from Jesus freaks for another 20 years, and bring us our single-payer healthcare system, real gun CONTROL and bring our troops home - from everywhere. Hillary has never been one to tippy-toe.

This was in 2009. He was 18 when he dated his wife and she was 14, 2 years later they married. I'm sorry Leighla, he is 2 yrs. older than me and that was not happening in my community.
And, to stand up in church and encourage a 15 or 16 yr. old to marry is wrong!
He does have a master's degree but he hides that well.

Melissa......I would vote for Warren but would never vote for Hilary. I know the carpetbagger from New York and only morons from NYC like her and the rest of the state hated her. This is from experience and not your fantasy. There is still almost 3 years and bothsides will gain and lose during that time. Which ever side has the momentum on the last year will win unless their canidate is a moron. Hilary also has a track record of saying and doing stupid stuff. So lets see if she wins the nomination first before you crown her queen.

Let's get those coal mines up and running. We don't want China to pull ahead.
A clinic dedicated to treating victims of China’s notorious smog has opened its doors in Sichuan Provence, southwest China.
Wang Qixun, a doctor at Chengdu No. 7 People’s Hospital, which runs the clinic, told the A.P. that over 100 people have already received treatment in the clinic’s first week. Patients’ symptoms range from coughs and sore or itching throats, to asthma and cardiovascular problems.
China has garnered a lot of undesired publicity over the last year for its growing air pollution crisis. A major source is its 2,300 (and growing) dirty coal plants. In January, Beijing experienced its worst air pollution on record — levels of particulate matter topped out at 723 micrograms per cubic meter. The World Health Organization (WHO) considers 25 or less micrograms per cubic meter ideal for human health. Above 300 is considered hazardous. In October, air pollution nearly shut down the entire city of Harbin, and in December, extreme air pollution forced children and the elderly in Shanghai behind closed doors and windows for at least seven days.
