Board resists protests of 'ridiculously biased' curriculum

A school board in Florida, which wields considerable influence on the curricula of public schools nationwide, has decided to keep a controversial world history textbook that has been criticized for sanitizing Islam’s violent history while diminishing Christianity.

The decision Monday by the Volusia County board, without a formal vote, came after hearing four hours of public comment, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

The dispute over the “World History” textbook published by Prentice Hall escalated earlier this month after a Deltona High School parent complained about its treatment of Islam to a friend, who organized a protest rally before the School Board’s scheduled Nov. 5 meeting. The meeting ended up being canceled due to unspecified “security concerns” raised by the U.S. Justice Department.

An opponent of the book at the hearing Monday, Walter Hanford, said it “whitewashes” the history of Islam, including the involvement of Muslims in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, the Daytona Beach paper reported.

The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has called protests against the book “un-American.”

Wilfredo Ruiz, an attorney for CAIR-Florida, has insisted that opponents “just want to create an environment of intolerance toward Muslims and an environment of hate against Islam.”

CAIR, meanwhile, was named in 2007 by the U.S. Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a plot to fund the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.

Exclusive: US May Have Let 'Dozens' of Terrorists Into Country As Refugees

The discovery in 2009 of two al Qaeda-Iraq terrorists living as refugees in
Bowling Green, Kentucky

-- who later admitted in court that they'd attacked U.S. soldiers in Iraq

-- prompted the bureau to assign hundreds of specialists to an around-the-clock effort aimed at checking its archive of 100,000 improvised explosive devices collected in the war zones, known as IEDs, for other suspected terrorists' fingerprints.

3 senators ID'd as 'vulnerable' in GOP-leaning states

President Obama’s disastrous health-care law – featuring a failed website, forced cancellation of policies, skyrocketing premiums and favors for the president’s friends – is giving Republicans ammunition as the 2014 midterm elections approach.

The Americans for Prosperity group, backed by the billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, already is aiming at three of the “most vulnerable” Senate Democrats, Mark Begich of Alaska, Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.

The New York Times, which long has backed Obamacare, explained the organization is making the three races an issue as part of a $3.5 million advertising campaign.

The three senators facing headwinds are in states where voters rejected Obama in the 2012 election.

“We want to make sure Obamacare is the No. 1 issue they’re thinking about,” Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity, told the Times.“We believe repealing Obamacare is a long-term effort, and a key part of that effort is keeping it in front of the American people night and day.”

His group also is taking aim at several Democrats in the House, which already has a GOP majority: Joe Garcia and Patrick Murphy of Florida and Ron Barber of Arizona.

Increases threefold number of eligible Afghan asylum seekers

Amid reports several dozen suspected terrorists may have been allowed to resettle in the U.S. as war refugees, a note text buried in the Senate’s immigration-reform bill would bring more such refugees from Afghanistan.

The legislation contains a small section that increases by more than threefold the number of Afghans eligible for immigration to the U.S. under a special asylum program, as WND was first to report.

The legislation also further expands the previously strict qualifications for immigration from Afghanistan and allows for more family members to join admitted asylum seekers.

Page 450 of the 1,190 page immigration bill amends what is known as the 2009 Afghan Special Immigrant Visa Program. The program, set to expire this year, is now extended to 2018 by the immigration bill.

Andrew Napolitano reminds Obama he can't change the laws of economics

Here is a quick pop quiz. Which presented more harm to human life and personal freedom: the four-week partial shutdown of the federal government last month or the rollout of Obamacare this month?

Obamacare is the greatest single expansion of federal regulatory authority in American history. In one stroke, it puts 16 percent of American economic activity – virtually all of health care and health insurance – under the thumb of federal bureaucrats. It dictates the minimum insurance coverage everyone in the United States must have.

Rand is on the forefront of protecting us from big brother.

On Wednesday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) released a video to Breitbart News exclusively in which he argued that the surveillance state under President Obama had grown beyond any reasonable proportions.“We were once outraged and dismayed and spurred to resist when British soldiers came knocking at our door with illegitimate warrants seeking taxes on our papers.

The Beginning Of The End For Barack Obama

Monday, November 18, 2013

We can only hope that the nightmare will be over soon.
Check it out:

Second-term presidents in the past 30 years have had some pretty embarrassing news conferences, full of frank admissions of failure, submissive spasms of shame and groveling, grieving apologies.

Bill Clinton had to admit that he actually did have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky; George W. Bush finally thought of something he might have done wrong; his dad had to explain all those new taxes after his unequivocal pledge; and even Ronald Reagan ate crow over the Iran-Contra affair.

But there has never, ever, been a more pitiful presser than the one conducted last week by President Obama.

In a nutshell,
he said sure,
everything’s a mess,

but he just didn’t know.

Introspective for the first time, he acknowledged he “fumbled the rollout” of Obamacare, said his “you can keep it” pledge “ended up not being accurate” and admitted that his “credibility” is in the dumper.

And he tossed out this gem:“What we’re also discovering is that insurance is complicated to buy.”

Ya think?

CURL: The beginning of the end for Barack Obama

Twenty hours after Mr. Obama’s depressing presser, 39 Democrats joined Republicans to support the “Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013.”

And just like that,
No. 44 became a lame duck,

The shutdown? Ancient history.

The fractured Republican Party? Gone with the wind.

Hey... here is something I think you will appreciate.
Some of the most amusing things to do for hackers that travel involve hotels. Hotel rooms are unassuming enough. But to people who play... that wire from the wall to the TV is not just a wire. It is an open door to the hotel network. This particular hotel advertised SECURE internet for the business class.
One of the first times I saw one... I ran straight to the gear shop and picked up an infrared transceiver....FIVE bucks.
This device mimics remote control signals, so I can use my computer to talk to the network.
What does this mean?
Well, I can watch free movies. Or more to my liking play free games.
I know what you are thinking... So what.. Scrutiny?
Well, I can also watch YOU watch TV. Hell, I now control what you watch on your TV. I decide whether you are watching the evening news or bad girls dormitory.
If you are web browsing on any hotel screen... I can watch you. I have screen shots of some crazy stuff. Giant money transfers, people soliciting prostitutes, or even what they are ordering for dinner.

Why MSNBC is failing
Wednesday, November 20, 2013

HOUSTON, November 20, 2013 — Liberal institutions from the New York Times to Newsweek are failing while conservative institutions like the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal are thriving.

The television world sees the same phenomenon as Fox News continues to crush MSNBC in the ratings. MSNBC and CNN take turns in the ratings cellar

while Fox News Channel (FNC) has a larger audience than both competitors combined.

The reasons for MSNBC’s descent are numerous.

MSNBC is not a real news network.

Despite its desperate attempt to become an ideological counter-balance to FNC,

MSNBC left out the news portion of its programming altogether.

MSNBC does not even have a news division. They borrow news reporters such as Chuck Todd from parent company NBC.
