Would you swear on a Liberal Bible?

Rule 1: Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do.

Rule 2: Never go outside the experience of your people.
The result is confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.

Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book of rules.“You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

Rule 6: A good tactic is one your people enjoy.“If your people aren’t having a ball doing it, there is something very wrong with the tactic.”

Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues.

Rule 8: Keep the pressure on. Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period for your purpose.“The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this that will cause the opposition to react to your advantage.”

Rule 9: The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself. When Alinsky leaked word that large numbers of poor people were going to tie up the washrooms of O’Hare Airport, Chicago city authorities quickly agreed to act on a longstanding commitment to a ghetto organization. They imagined the mayhem as thousands of passengers poured off airplanes to discover every washroom occupied. Then they imagined the international embarrassment and the damage to the city’s reputation.

Rule 10: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Avoid being trapped by an opponent or an interviewer who says,“Okay, what would you do?”

Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

Sorry Republicans, But Sen. Tim Scott Was Invited To the March On Washington

Sen. Tim Scott’s office claimed that he wasn’t invited to the March on Washington event yesterday, but the truth is that every member of Congress including Scott was invited weeks ago.
The latest in Republican false meme creation began when ABC “Benghazi emails” News reported,“The only African American serving in the Senate, Republican Tim Scott, wasn’t invited to partake in the festivities today, a spokesman confirmed to ABC News.” This statement was also reported by the Newscorp owned Wall Street Journal, which was then quoted by The Washington Post.

But according to the event organizers, this isn’t true. Roll Call broke with the mainstream media tradition of taking a Republican’s word for it by actually asking the organizers of the event if Republicans were invited. In an email statement, a spokesperson for the event said,“This was truly a bipartisan outreach effort…All members of congress were invited to attend and the Republican leadership was invited to speak. Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s office was very helpful in trying to find someone to speak at the event. Making this commemoration bi-partisan was especially important to members of the King family, too.”

In fact, organizers of the event were desperately trying to find Republicans who would be willing to come and speak to the crowd of 100,000.

Organizers tried to find Republicans to come and speak, but Tim Scott claims that he wasn’t invited.
It appears that the Republican senator from South Carolina isn’t being honest.

It isn’t that Republicans like Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) were not invited to the event. The truth is that Republicans as a group decided that they wouldn’t attend. The Republicans were invited. Republican leaders were offered a chance to speak, and they said no.

Tea Partyin’ Tim Scott could have shown some real courage by defying his party and attending the event. He could have shown the world that progress has been made even in red state South Carolina. He could have demonstrated real leadership. Instead, his office decided that the best thing for the nation’s only African American senator to do was to play to the Obama hate/collective Republican persecution paranoia by claiming that he wasn’t invited.

For Tim Scott, pretending that his invitation “got lost in the mail” was a better political option than attending the event and reminding the tea party folks back home that he also is black.
Sen. Scott could have attended. He just didn’t want to.

Virginia Man Temporarily Detained After Protesting Obama With Loaded Weapons On Highway Overpass

A tea party protester was temporarily detained on Tuesday after taking to an overpass in Hopewell, Va. with multiple guns to rail against President Barack Obama, according to WTVR, a Richmond, Va. CBS affiliate.

The protest was part of a campaign launched by conservative groups at the beginning of the summer, aiming to gather support for a movement to impeach Obama by standing on highway overpasses with signs.

Brandon Howard took his protest a little further: he was carrying a loaded assault rifle and a semi-automatic handgun on the overpass. He claimed that he was exercising his right to free speech and his right to bear arms by holding a sign that read "Impeach Obama" -- and wearing his guns.

“We have a tyrant in office right now; he thinks he’s a king," Howard said to WTVR.“If we don’t exercise these rights, the rights have no value."
Local police detained Howard, but did not press charges. Howard says the police also confiscated his weapons.

Other overpass protestors have also been arrested this month. In St. Charles, Mo., two men were detained after not obeying initial orders to leave the overpass after police said they presented a traffic hazard.

Marc Messmer, one of the men arrested, said his rights had been violated.

"Citizens have a right to peaceably assemble," he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We were simply doing that. There were no laws broken."

Deadbeat Republicans Demand a Bribe Before They Will Agree to Pay Their Debts
The notion of reaping a reward without making an investment is likely the dream of every entrepreneur on the face of the Earth, but there are hardly any situations in business, or in life, where people get anything without investing something. Two years ago Republicans reaped rewards that damaged the nation and the people in exchange for authorizing the government to pay the debt they racked up, but they can hardly consider paying their bills an investment in America; the rewards they took from the people were pure profit. Most Americans would love a situation where a financial institution paid them handsomely for repaying their debts, and that is precisely what Republicans expect from the American people. Yesterday, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew sent a message that Republicans will not be paid for repaying their debt. However, since Republicans reaped such obscene profits for paying their debt in 2011, they are bound to attempt their scheme again, but it is high time they start investing in America for the profits they already reaped during the 2011 debt ceiling crisis.

The last debt ceiling crisis cost the country, and the people, dearly and it is important to note raising the debt limit simply allowed the government to repay debts Republicans racked up during the Bush administration’s drunken spending spree. In the 2011 credit debacle in exchange for raising the debt limit, Republicans were paid with a million jobs killed, a credit downgrade,$19 billion added to the deficit, and $1.2 trillion sequester cuts slated to kill between 750,000 and million jobs in the first year alone. Add to that ten years’ worth of cuts to Meals on Wheels, food and housing assistance for children and seniors, as well as indiscriminate domestic program cuts and it is little wonder John Boehner was “pretty happy he got 98% of what he wanted” because Republicans profited without making any investments. Doubtless Republicans regarded taking food out of the mouths of needy Americans and killing jobs as their greatest gain on no investment, and it was all for authorizing payment for their debts.

Americans paid a high price for Republicans to authorize the government to pay for their unnecessary wars, a pharmaceutical industry gift (Medicare prescription plan), and twelve years’ worth of tax cuts for the richest Americans. In fact, it was so profitable for Republicans that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to hold the debt ceiling hostage again because making outlandish profits without any investments is a dream come true, and if the people and nation’s credit were damaged, as John Boehner says “so be it.” Secretary Lew’s notice to Republicans that they are not going to profit for doing their job and authorizing the government to repay their debt was a good start, but it is not enough. Americans have invested and paid Republicans with their jobs, schools, and domestic programs and it is time to demand repayment; separate from the debt limit.

Republicans have not invested anything for the profits they reaped from the last debt limit crisis and they are gearing up for “a whale of a battle” for more from the people according to John Boehner. The hypocrite Republicans never demanded payment from George W. Bush to pay the nation’s debts, and in fact they raised the debt limit seven times including once to cover new tax cuts for the rich in 2003. Raising the debt limit is non-negotiable for President Obama the same as it has been for every other president and why he let Republicans demand that Americans paid them with spending cuts and job losses in 2011 is a mystery. If the President assumed there would be a “grand bargain” by flirting with a credit default, he miscalculated because Republicans came away with a wealth of harsh and damaging gifts and the nation got a credit downgrade; Republicans won the debt limit war and Americans paid them handsomely then and for the next ten years.

The American people have invested far too much in the phony debt ceiling crisis and it is time for Republicans to invest in America. They have not invested in roads, schools, healthcare, or jobs, and they have successfully avoided investing their time wisely over the past two years. What little time they have spent in Congress has been chasing phony and manufactured scandals, voting to defund the Affordable Care Act, and demanding Americans invest more by forfeiting more jobs, overtime pay, and for 30 million Americans, the first opportunity to have basic healthcare insurance. After their 5-week hiatus in August Republicans will only spend nine days in session in September and likely waste time fighting amongst themselves over defunding the Affordable Health Act instead of working on immigration, replacing indiscriminate sequester cuts, or passing anything resembling a real budget.

Shellie Zimmerman Reveals She Had Left George The Night Before the Shooting

In an interview with ABC, Shellie Zimmerman said that she had left her husband George the night before the shooting. If you don’t know anything about domestic violence statistics, this might not have set off any alarms. But I do, and suddenly the murder of Trayvon Martin makes so much more sense.

Shellie explained that she wasn’t home that February night,“I was staying at my father’s house. We had gotten into an argument the night before, and I left.”

Watch the ABC News interview here:

The sure thing that will set an abuser off is when the victim leaves. Domestic violence stats reveal that this is the most dangerous time for a woman living with an abuser. It can be lethal.

So Shellie leaves George and the next night, he’s out on the streets looking for someone else to control and abuse, as a substitute for his wife, whom he can’t control at that moment. Nothing irks an abuser more than having control taken away, even for a moment.

Shellie is still sticking by George’s story about that night, though she admits she can’t speak to what was going through his mind since she was gone.
“That’s just not his way,” Shellie answers in response to a question about whether George profiled Trayvon. But clearly it is his way.

George Zimmerman is a predator. He appears to have both abused his former girlfriend and molested his cousin. These are the actions of a predator. A predator stalks their prey, profiles them to find the one least likely to cause repercussions, and then swoops in for the kill. George Zimmerman has been accused of both domestic violence (by a different partner) and molestation of a young female relative. He was also arrested for two third-degree felonies involving assaulting a police officer.

Defenders claim these are all false allegations, but the statistical likelihood of real false allegations is so low as to render illogical to assume that both of these allegations, made by different women, are false. There are also allegedly other women who refused to come forward out of fear. And then there’s the police officer assault, which is less likely to fall between the “he said she said” cracks because a male authority figure was the victim of Zimmerman’s rage that time.

Zimmerman chose not to control his rage at the world. It’s likely that he is/was an abuser of his female partners. The cousin identified the Zimmerman family as racist, on top of his fondling of her beginning when she was 6. Six-year-olds are easy targets. Someone who preys on a 6-year-old is a predator.

The profile of an abuser is a person who refuses to take responsibility for their life, their actions, and their feelings. Often they feel victimized by the very people they are victimizing (see Zimmerman demanding an apology from African Americans). They feel powerless and out of control, and instead of doing something productive about it, they find a victim they can abuse so that they can feel powerful and in control. Zimmerman’s spotty “career” history is par for the course of this profile.

A predator will use violence, economic dependency, verbal abuse and isolation (often asking the victim to lie for them thereby rendering the victim’s credibility worthless, which is handy for the abuser later) to establish and maintain their control.

It’s ironic and yet predictable that Shellie Zimmerman lied for the abusive George Zimmerman, and now she is in more trouble than he.
He did not show up to court for her, even though she was there for him in spite of the fact that their marriage was on the rocks. She couldn’t explain why he didn’t show up, saying that she always wants her husband’s support.

And now their marriage is strained – she wouldn’t say if they are still together or not.

He got what he needed from her, and now she is going to pay for lying for him. She doesn’t seem to see it this way yet, but objectively, I could have written this script based on his profile.
George Zimmerman was acquitted and Shellie Zimmerman pleaded guilty to perjury and got 100 hours of community service and one year’s probation. Ironic?

Shellie offered an apology to Trayvon Martin’s family at the end of the interview, making her the only Zimmerman to express the slightest bit of humanity toward the Martin family. Sociopathy can be earned the hard way.

Zimmerman’s apology at his bail bond hearing doesn’t count for obvious reasons, especially given his claim on TV that he didn’t regret having the gun or chasing Trayvon because it was “god’s plan” and “I am sorry that they buried their child”, which reveals a troubling lack of human emotion served by the verbal distancing — he’s sorry they buried their child, not sorry he shot him — let alone empathy.

“George Zimmerman has beaten down her self-esteem,” interviewer Christi O’Connor told ABCNews.com . Yes, that’s just another sign of a predator when taken together with his other behaviors.

O’Connor, who is working on a book about the George Zimmerman trial, also hinted that there was evidence that was mishandled, saying that during the sensational trial,“there were so many untruths told.”

“What the jury never heard could have led to a different verdict,” she said.

The saddest thing about all of this is that it is all so predictable, just as it is predictable that George Zimmerman is not finished preying on the innocent. Shellie Zimmerman may have been an accomplice in his deception of the court, but she is also yet another victim in the wake of George Zimmerman’s psychological problems.

Someone like that should not have been allowed to take a life with impunity. Just as with domestic violence, by not holding Zimmerman accountable, the state has given him a license to kill again and he will use it. This is also another argument for taking domestic violence more seriously, because it’s not as if it’s a surprise to see a person with domestic violence in their past taking innocent lives later.

On the contrary, it’s an alarm bell for society, just like animal abuse by young children is an alarm bell.

Trayvon Martin's killer gets bail, apologizes to family
