D did you give up too soon on this debate? Maybe it's like the Pubs belive in smaller government. While they make such claims the reality is quite different. The liberty vance effect.

While the Union serves to promote the workers, the Association serves to promote the industry itself. This distinction makes all the difference....

Several associations are commonly called Unions in the media, such as the National Education Association (NEA). While the NEA has adopted many roles traditionally held by Unions, such as contract negotiations, it is first and foremost a trade association. Chartered by the federal government in 1906, the NEA only began adopting union roles in the 1960′s in response to multiple states demands for the services normally handled by Unions. This was further pushed when the NEA partnered with the American Federation of Teachers, a Union Federation. Several states NEA affiliates have merged with AFT unions as well, notably in Florida, Minnessotta, Montana and New York, further muddling the issue due to these hybrid entities. The NEA affiliates with Union components have joined Union Federations at times, such as the AFL-CIO.

A different tribe but the same country. They were Iraqis. Are you saying it is OK for white leaders to use chemical weapons against other ethnic groups? Or for black leaders to do the same?

So you agree that Saddam used chemical weapons? Then you feel the same about Syria. YOUR hero Obama has said that use of chemical weapons by Syria would be a game changer for him? Will you support a decision to invade Syria for use of chemical weapons?

More of your compassion showing through... NOT

But, D., you and the loons said (About 100 times a day) that it was "blood for oil." Another dem. lie. I suppose that's why Mr. Bush's approval ratings are higher than Obama's.

The unions promoted Detroit into bankruptcy. The proof is always in the pudding and the union's pudding is spoiled.

Then why does the NEA refer to itself as the largest labor union in the U. S.? Maybe it started as a trade association but it seems to think of itself as a union now.

I haven't even had a chance to read all of the posts I have missed. In fact, this morning is the first time I have checked the thread in a couple of weeks. It's good to be busy though. Keeps the mind sharp for future debates !
Well, OT, glad to hear the work is picking up. You will need to be sharp, there are some pretty savvy conservatives posting now. We are still having showers every day but none in my area for 2 days. The course is drying up.

Killing the Iraqi Kurds was awful and spineless.
At the time the Iranians were winning in the Iraq/Iran war. So we dispatched old Donald Rumsfeld to Iraq to turn the tide of war.
Donald meet with Saddam Hussein in Baghdad to discuss military aid(Mustard Gas) to the Iraqi Government.
They used it on Iranian troops, civilians and Iraqi kurds. This stopped the Iranians in their tracks. The U.N. remained silent about the Iraqi use of Mustard Gas.

Well, it appears that old Anthony Weiner, the congressman from N.Y. who resigned in disgrace and is now running for the NYC mayoral post, has admitted that he was still sending naughty pictures of himself one year later to a young lady who was not his wife. This man has no class and probably photo shopped his picture from the waist down, nude. If he will lie to his wife and family, he will lie to NYC but who cares about betrayal of his family and friends, right?

The Stewards in the school system here advise me they simply don't have the power to strike. They can enforce the labor laws that are on the books and "ask" for a raise, ect.
But not being able to strike legally is like going to war with blanks.
Yes they say they are a Union......but to me they are a poor excuse for a Union. But the NEA is better than nothing at all.

"(CNN)-- When former U.S. congressman Anthony Weiner admitted two years ago to sending explicit messages and photos to women online, his wife was notably absent, letting Weiner make his public mea culpa alone. But on Tuesday, Huma Abedin was front and center as Weiner confessed to having further explicit exchanges, even after the first scandal forced his resignation from Congress.

Abedin, 36, is no stranger to politics. She has worked for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for years and accompanied her husband on the campaign trail in his current bid for New York City mayor."

Do you think that Mrs. Abedin (Weiner's spouse and close friend of the Clintons,(maybe a real close friend of Bill's) just wants to be the wife of the NYC mayor?

His wife is no dummy, she knows what is going on and at the same time she is keeping her family together. In the end Anthony will fall from grace(if he has not fallen already)but his wife will rise to be the shining star.

Yeah BC, this lil issue about a definition was just dragging on to long, and some people just get caught up in it and spend so much time on it. I'm quite sure after this post, you will see others just wasting time on a definition and not the substance.
