The NRA is just a puppet of gun manufacturers. It all boils down to greed.
funny I was just debating this in another site. Here is an excerpt from it. "Harcourt also said "To be sure, the Nazis were intent on killing Jewish persons and used the gun laws and regulations to further the genocide.[10] Harcourt concludes:

[...]Hitler intended to liberalize gun control laws in Germany for "trustworthy" German citizens, while disarming "unreliable" persons, especially the Jewish population. In order to disarm Jewish persons, the Nazi government used both the "trustworthiness" requirements originally legislated in 1928, as well as more direct regulations denying Jews the right to manufacture or possess firearms. It is absurd to even try to characterize this as either pro- or anti-gun control. But if forced to, I would have to conclude, at least preliminarily from this straightforward exercise in statutory interpretation, that the Nazis favored less gun control for the "trustworthy" German citizen than the predecessor Weimar Republic, while disarming the Jewish population and engaging in genocide.[10]

Just kind of what you said: Trustworthy liberals that are for the government can keep their guns.

Do you have parents that will receive SS and medicare? Are you going to reuse those benefits? SS and medicare are trust funds that we have paid in to and not entitlements. Australia, a country with a total population just over 23 million< most of them in 5 major cities. And you are comparing that to the US with a population over 350 million. And that is not counting the illegals. That is like comparing a golf ball to a bowling ball. Get real.

You TEApublican Gun Fanatics better stop and think about the consequences of your actions!

How many more "Newtowns" do you think the American People will tolerate without demanding much more stiffer Gun Control Measures than are being proposed now? I'd say one more and all heck will break loose, if something hasn't already been done to try and prevent it.

And do you think that will be another "Newtown"? I do! There are always copycats of any crazy act of violence.

And do you think the American People will just let it go, if no minor Gun Control was implemented this time? I don't!

I think that if this Minor Gun Control is passed into Law this time, the People will be much more likely, the next time it happens, to look for some other solution such as in the Mental Health area, possibly.
But, I guarantee you that if these Gun control Measure aren't adopted into Law, the next time ...the call will be for much stronger Gun Control Measures and they will become Law!

That's the problem with you People, you haven't paid enough attention over the years to learn how things go, from past History...nor do you have any capability of foreseeing the consequences, in the future, of what you demand NOW!
You better stop and think about what you want and you better learn to "pick your fights", or be prepared to face the consequences of not doing so!

Your TEApublican Party is facing the consequences right now of the Sequester that was Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor's bright idea and it's coming back to bite them, too, as we speak.
It'll be the same with Gun control, if you get your way. Just remember that I warned you!

If you pay into something like retirement(Social Security) or health insurance(Medicare) then you are entitled to the benefits of these programs. However, welfare and medicaid are NOT entitlements because they are paid into by other than the lazy bums that are receiving the benefits. You Libs want to merge them all into one group and they are not.

Social Security and Medicare are bought, paid for and earned by the recipient and their families who are then entitled to receive what they paid for. Welfare and medicaid are gifts from the Big Brother Government to lazy bums who are not entitled to anything.

It is done for one reason and one reason only and that is to buy more votes until you can get your full Liberal socialist agenda into action. At that time, this country, like every other country that has tried socialism, will fail. We are already so far along the path to failure now that it may be too late to save us.

Ok then I guess we will have to have background checks to buy fireworks, backpacks, pressure cookers, radio control models, nails, ball bearings and yes, even vaseline. These are just a few of the items used by the Boston Marathon bombers.

If more people were armed and allowed to carry, there would be fewer shootings.

Uh Pete, Tennessee WAS a Blue State until Gore ran for President, against Bush...that would have been the election of 1999....and it still had a Democratic-Majority Legislature until 2010! And Bredesen, the Governor before Haslam was a Democrat, not a very good one, I'll grant you, but a Democrat, nonetheless.
I believe I'm right in saying, without looking it up, that in 2010 was the first time that TN. has ever been a Red State, with both a Republican Governor and a Republican-Majority Legislature....and I expect that to change next year, since they've done such a lousy job.

I prefer the ability to neutralize as many criminal offenders required to keep my family safe. BTW, this IS what people want and need in order to maintain perceived defense capability for homes and businesses.

The only "slippery slope" of propaganda is being promulgated by stupid people or activists promoting gun confiscation in early socialism and/or marxism pursuing a centralized, police state government.

I was in Homestead and Miami in 1992 in the aftermath of hurricane Andrew with disaster relief. I spent extensive hours with what was left of local law enforcement. Miami Metro P.D. had limited officers as over half of their patrol Officers' homes and patrol cars were destroyed, the others badly damaged.

I was stunned to learn first hand of the scope and gravity of crime being perpetrated against the hurricane victims left by themselves to defend their homes and personal property strown far and wide. There was no power, food, water, medicine, telephone, internet, or assistance for days on end. There WAS no help!

Gangs of the worst sort preyed on these poor people as they were free to roam huge sectors of these large counties. Typically, vans would pull up to adjacent homes and dozens of thugs would rush homeowners to beat them down to the ground, taking jewelry, wallets, cash and even clothing in some instances. Victims were routinely held at gunpoint while other gang members went into devastated homes and garages, stealing everything imaginable. Roving gangs would steal tools, air compressors, and would clean out entire homesites in mere minutes.

Other gangs employed different tactics. These included roving gang members in multiple vehicles arriving at residential sites after dark and performing military type assaults upon homes in the outlying area, with emphasis on robbing occupants, committing sex crimes and stealing food stuffs and cash. Law enforcement officials reported the only people capable of avoiding this most heinous level of victimization were those adequately armed and capable of returning fire to thwart the greatest crimes.

OCB commanders I spoke with were beyond frustrated and were anxiously awaiting law enforcement support being dispatched from North Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Commanders personally told me that the American people would never know the truth of violent thuggery that went on unconstrained.

You further need to understand that home invasion robbery has become a common and rather vogue criminal activity in South Florida, to begin with. Again, this activity involves gang members who assault homes with the intent to rob, rape and to kill, if necessary. Interestingly, a saying became quite popular for the duration of my engagement with this disaster. Unit supervisors and Law Enforcement Commanders were in consensus in this saying to be heard many times a day..... "The day they take guns away from the American populace, it will be too dangerous for any of us to work out here."
