We're all very proud of you over the Jethro thing..really! It's obvious you know your stuff here, but you're starting to "milk it," and it's getting on everyone's nerves! I've decided to give you a week to study and next tuesday you can tell us your favorite from Gilligans Island, Mr. Ed and the three stooges.
About Mary Ann and Carol, only "one" of these nice people have I ever met. You are obviously insecure over the only way women have to defend themselves against your disgusting abuse.
You and your stupid friends discouraged these two from posting on Topix, but they still enjoy following posters they admire. They, along with their family members also grade the posters they find repugnant. Stupid people create unnecessary and motivated enemies! Keep it up, it's your reputation!
At least your self-esteem survives because you know the names of the cast-members in the "Beverly Hillbillies," Who knows, we may have a topix sponsored "Trivia for Idiots" contest in the future! Maybe you could finally win..something?
A really cool song for you: "Sung to the music from - the Beverly Hillbillies"
Come and listen to a story about old O.T.
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his rotten teeth,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.
Well the first thing you know O.T.'s a millionaire,
Kinfolk said "man, move away from there"
Said "Tennessee is the place you ought to be"
So he loaded up the truck and found destiny.
Cows, that is. Stupid friends, lap-top bars.
Well now its time to say good by to "O" and all his kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back a gain to this locality
To have a heapin helpin of social poverty.
Hillybilly that is. Set a spell, Take your teeth out.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?
Dang Willard, your starting with those brandy shots a lil early.
BTW, since you and Vet are buddies, order me up some chicken from Chic-Fil-A

Nobody disputed it, at the time. I don't quite understand how you know that the Law was voted in under the Previous LIBERAL Administration, yet you say there is no such Law and cited all the Stations that you say, air Fox Fake News. Those things, in your Post, are inconsistent to me. So, did you surf the Internet and look it up right before Posting?
Hello Sassy. First, I never said THE previous Liberal Administration. I said A previous Liberal administration. I never said there was no such law. There was in fact a law, but it was sort of like many of our laws, it is not specific enough to keep out Fox News or any other broadcaster they feel is too opinionated. It is also not enforced.

I don't consider anything I read on the internet as 100% factual. There are too many blogs, opinions, forums, fake news articles, etc. to do that. That is why I never state something as fact that I have only read on the internet. My reply to you on this topic is based on my personal experience. I worked for a Canadian based company called Nortel Networks. Their headquarters at the time was in Ottawa, but the division I worked under was based in Montreal, a city in Quebec in case you don't know where it is. Nortel back then was partially owned by Bell Canada. Bell Canada back then owned some cable broadcasters. The revised Radio Act in 1991 affected Bell Canada's operations slightly which in turn affected our business with them slightly. The original version of this Act was passed in 1968 and was championed by the Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau. Liberals controlled the Parliament back then and Mr. Trudeau was appointed by the Parliament, not elected.

Canada is more complex than one might imagine in that it has one province that acts like its own country, i.e. Quebec. Quebec has a heavy French influence and the predominant language spoken is still French. They hate Americans, believe strongly in Socialism and really do not want to be part of Canada. For that matter, you would probably enjoy living there except for the weather conditions. Anyway, for various reasons, Quebec was able to get control of the Parliament in the mid to late 60's and appointed a Liberal Prime Minister. Hence, the reason for this act in the first place. Quebec's influence eventually hurt the economy and angered the rest of Canada and they were eventually ousted and replaced by a more conservative Parliament. This Parliament appointed a conservative Prime Minister who tried to repeal the Radio Act. He failed in this endeavor in a Parliamentary vote because there are still some Liberals in the Parliament.

I know Canadian politics almost as good as I know American politics. My experience in Canada was the basis for the facts in my previous post, not surfing the internet. I also sent texts to two close acquaintances that I have in Canada who confirmed Fox News is still broadcast in Canada and told me what stations I could find it on. The broadcasters I named in my previous post were cut and pasted from one of their emails to me. I have also seen Fox News broadcast in Canada. So when you blindly repost something you read on the internet and I know it isn't true from firsthand experience, I had to say something. You even opined by stating conservatives supported this Act. That couldn't be further from the truth. Please, check your facts before you post and don't blindly believe everything you read on your Liberal web sites. If Fox News were to actually be banned legally and was enforced, then the current administration would have banned MSNBC as well. They are a lot more opinionated than Fox News. Just because you agree with MSNBC doesn't make them any better than Fox News.

<quoted text> Hi "Pete". The stimilus was about 800 billion dollars. Nearly 300 billion of that was dedicated to tax cuts, and, at the time it was passed all of the Bush tax cuts were still in effect...if "that didn't do anything", why would a tax cut now yield a different result ?
Personally, I favored a Federal jobs program of direct temporary hiring as opposed to the route the administration took with it's stimilus. I thought that direct hiring was the fastest way to get money into the hands of willing workers. Just my take....(and I want you to know that I enjoy our discussion.)
Hi OT, hope you're doing well. To answer your question and as a basis for my humble opinion, the tax cuts included in the stimulus were for working families and for anyone making $200,000/yr or less. Yes, these tax cuts helped, but did not offer a tax cut to retired taxpayers or unemployed taxpayers and totally left out those making $200,000 or more. In my opinion, we needed and need a tax cut for everyone including the upper portion of the scale regarding taxpayers. Wealthy people spend a whole lot more than non-wealthy people. They also own a lot of the small businesses that provide jobs, and in turn, spend money themselves. We need everyone spending for a quick recover, not just the lower spectrum of taxpayers. For example, currently, the Bush tax cuts were eliminated for wealthier taxpayers and these same stimulus tax cuts or tax breaks expired. So starting in 2013, spending has decreased even more except for gasoline and automobile purchases. If you cut taxes across the board and keep the current spending intact, this would put more money directly in consumer hands. Nothing has to go through the Governmental bureaucracy and won't be inefficiently spent. Temporary governmental jobs don't solve the problem in my opinion. What happens when these jobs expire? I would rather invest the money in permanent jobs. This can be realized again by consumer spending.
Part of this governmental spending was the investment in a new welcome center near me on I-26. It generated about 75 jobs for a year and a half period. However, the welcome center is eight miles from the start and end of the interstate. Who needs a rest starting out on a trip or ending a trip? The state never asked for this welcome center and the taxpayers didn't demand it either. Now we will have a new welcome center that cost who knows how much that nobody will use and the jobs have disappeared again. This investment really helped nothing. That is an example of why I say consumers are better spenders of their money than the government.

Anyway, I always enjoy discussions with you. I realize we probably don't agree with one another on this topic, but I respect your opinion and enjoy hearing from you.

Hello pretty friend. That old bag of hot air is sleeping I believe. She will appear in about an hour if I'm right. Her naps are as predictable as the nonsense she post. She worked herself into a frenzy about 4 this morning. She's been over heating on the Camden threads over some old dude who agreed to roll it up and thump it in. You know how the dirty old thing gets over her Internet loving. Lol.
