Thank you for the kind words.<quoted text>I hate your politics and I don't like unions, but I do appreciate law enforcement officers. I've only had two or three speeding tickets and I was guilty all three times. I took a calculated risk and I got caught. Case closed. Each time, I pulled over and waited. No need to chase. The officers were respectful and I was, too.(I KNOW you find THAT hard to believe.) You pretty much have a thankless job a lot of the time.
See! I can separate the person from the politics. Now let the hate continue!
You were safe from me, I only wrote tickets for two things:
- Loud radios
- Driving so slowly it impeded the flow of traffic.
I never understood why people wanted to play their damn radios so loud they vibrate the cars around them and cause headaches to people they don't even know; and
Why in the world do people want to get in the passing lane and drive at the slowest speed possible that prevents anyone from passing them on the right or the left. Go as slow as you want - just stay in the slow lane !
As far as speeding - Those tickets generate income and are an obvious metric- so department love 'em.
I never wrote 'em, in fact, they tried to fire me several times because I kept reminding the patrol cops, when we in contract negotiations, that every ticket they wrote, was a vote against their own pay raise. But, saved by the 1st Amendment and very sharp lawyers.
Let's take a long walk on the beach at sunset with a bottle of wine ...
Later - we'll let the battle continue - its fun.
