On the topic of unions, took about 5 minutes to find the following:

"Members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) protested at entrances to the Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday — the biggest travel day of the year — delaying people trying to spend time with their families and leading to a dozen arrests.

It took me less than 5 minutes to go to the Huffington Post article and begin reading the comments, very interesting....

The Daily Caller article describes a non-violent protest.

WASHINGTON — A continued decline in the federal budget deficit this year is resulting in a better than expected fiscal forecast for 2013 from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.

"The CBO projects a $642 billion budget deficit for fiscal year 2013, down more than $200 billion from its February estimate and the smallest annual shortfall since 2008.
It is the lowest level of deficit spending to date under President Obama, who faced $1 trillion or more in annual deficits during his first term."

And how is that different than any trade organization spending a portion of it's members dues on political advocacy, as a member of a trade organization a member has one vote, do you think that the board of any trade org does things that all members agree with.

Tell us, when a public sector employee is paid, is that money not their own to with as they see fit. Why is it significant that public sector employees are paid by the taxpayers, are you suggesting that public sectors have a special obligation to the rest of us as to how they spend what they earn.

A plan to help people get health-care, to cure their illnesses and keep from having their lives destroyed if they get sick is an abomination?
What's a true abomination is that such a plan was necessary in the first place. The ACA is a response to a greed-driven, uncaring, profit-motivated health-care system which has developed into something so illogical and exploitative that it destroys millions of lives and denies health-care to millions each year.
There's your abomination.
The TRUE abomination is people who don't have their priorities straight and who had rather have a car they can't afford, children they can't afford, a house they can't afford and/or off the chart vacations they can't afford instead of taking care of their personal needs(health insurance) and then expecting everyone else to supply it for them.
BTW, no one is denied healthcare. It's available for everyone.

Damn ....

There's Free healthcare ?

Where do I sign up ?

I've been paying thousands of dollars a year in premiums for my employees and kids.

Wait ... You mean Right Wing Wacko healthcare.

That's where RWWs pay their employees so little the employees qualify for Medicaid, or just go to the ER for life threatening issues.

Either way the taxpayer picks up the tab, but hey, those low wages and no benefits make mooooooore profit.

Nope... Cutting Right Wing Wackos annual deficit of $1.4 Trillion, by more than 1/2 - that's "nothing".

(But I gotta say, to us working folks $800 Billion a year is real money).

Regardless of (c)4 or (c)5 classification, I am illustrating the complete hypocrisy of those who see no problem with labor unions spending millions of their members dues to exert the union's influence on political candidates and campaigns, while at the same time seeing no problem with the IRS targeting organizations for nothing more than their points of view that happen to be at variance with the current administration. That many of you on the Left cannot see the inherent danger in an arm of the federal govt with the power the IRS has picking and choosing based on perceived political viewpoint who they will help and who they will harass merely illustrates how blinded you are by your ideology.

Fortunately, you on here are not reflective of the viewpoints of most on the Left who actually do understand the implications of this scandal. Jon Stewart may be a comedian, but he does have a talent for putting things into simple to understand perspective. Pardon the bleeped profanities.

You'll be happy to know that some legislation was passed that requires people to actually pay for their own health-care insurance rather than just going to the ER and slapping a "de-facto tax" on everybody else.

Yes, the ACA is an abomination. If the ACA actually could do what you state in your second sentence, that would be a wonderful thing. But you can't just wave a magic wand and "poof" all your nice intentions get realized. That is the problem with the Liberal mindset, I am not going to deny that many of the stated objectives of the Left sound wonderful on paper - but somehow the implementation never seems to achieve the goal and in too many cases it only exacerbates the problem.
The federal government has many functions only it can effectively perform - defense of our country, negotiate with foreign countries, protect civil rights, determine constitutionality of laws, print currency, etc.
But it fails miserably when it thinks it can somehow bring about equality of outcome for all. The Constitutional provision to "provide for the general welfare" does not mean that every citizen's life is to be made equal in "prosperity" and "happiness". It can't be done. We have had a 40 year,$15 trillion dollar "War on Poverty" that has seen the poverty level stay exactly the same, while destroying the Black family to the point that 70% of black children are born to a single mother and 40% of all children in this country are now being born to single mothers. Those children are far more likely to be living in poverty and to be abused.
What has the creation of the Dept of Education done for the quality of education American school children receive - nothing but make it worse. We keep throwing money at a bureaucracy that does not work. It is too top heavy and unresponsive to "the consumer" - the children and their parents. It keeps implementing the educational "fad du jour" that uses our children as guinea pigs in their "educational" experiments instead of focusing on the basics that were the building blocks of education back when our schools were to be envied.
I do not dispute that the IDEA of universal healthcare is something to be strived for, but this heavy handed, bureaucratic sledgehammer is NOT the way. It will destroy what has been the best healthcare -NOT perfect, but the best- system in the world. Already the projected costs are skyrocketing and with over 1,200 waivers being issued - mostly to labor unions - how are those costs going to be controlled. As one of its early proponents - Max Baucus - has said: "it is a train wreck coming down"

Yes, I've had to use hospitals, so much of the "waste" is related to additional tests, etc. that are run to protect the hospital from being sued from clueless leeches like you.
"but a poor job of treating people fairly."
So you didn't get hired for that janitor position, huh? What does treating people fairly have to do with containing costs? Can you stay on one topic?
"The vast majority of business at any hospital is NOT elective surgery, never was, never will be and that's all you are talking about."
What has that got to do with containing costs? Do you know how hospitals are paid/reimbursed? Or, are you just rambling on and on and on???
"I also know for sure I have more assets than you"
Possibly, not likely. If so, good for you? What are you doing with it? But, by bringing it up, who's being an arrogant ass now?
"I like to work."
So did I. Now I like to enjoy life and spend time with my wife and family, because I can. Why don't you?
"I also don't feel the need to tell people all the time where I am going and what I am going to do or how much money I have made,..."
Sure I do. All the time. Wow, telling Will Dockery where I was going when he has an event scheduled now equals all the time. Wow, the clueless and uneducated (another name changer, BTW) has struck again.
Never once have I said what I've made in a post. Nobody's business, and, since it was a private company, not public information. Prove me wrong. What I made at a public company was public information, but it paled compared to others there...
I have stated (in a comment to (I think) "one of many differing names" in a Douglasville thread) that I paid more in federal income taxes than the average person makes in a lifetime in response to a claim that I shouldn't be complaining about federal income taxes because I didn't pay any.
Ended the discussion right there. Kinda like this one.
Not only are you a pile of manure, you have a severe reading comprehension problem and a real problem forgetting what you posted. Also a habit of trying to turn the dialogue when you have no decent response. And a real bad habit of blowing your own horn. Just like men who claim to have sex all the time but rarely do, men who brag about what they have all the time rarely have ANYTHING.
I am sure the comment about you paying more taxes than the average man is true in your warped mind and it does seem like its your life's goal to make sure the working middle class NEVER make a living wage. Are you really so upset with your peers you feel the need to constantly put them down??? Or is it the fact that your real job at WalMart will not allow unions and you are just jealous?
I refuse to let some arrogant asswipe with a superiority complex end any conversation with me, so bye bye butt whole. I misspelled a few words but I hope you with a little help from your friends in the break room you will get the point.
