Numbers brought about by an incompetent president who insists on having his way, country be dammed.
A severe recession brought about by Obama putting the country in debt by $6 trillion in his first 4 years in office.
And what do we have to show for it?

‘Obama phones’ subsidy program draws new scrutiny on the Hill
By Karen Tumulty, Published: April 9, 2013
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-...

...Hardly.“Obama phone” is the widely used — and misleading — nickname of a 28-year-old federal program known as Lifeline. It provides discounts, averaging $9.25 a month, on phone service for 13.3 million low-income subscribers.

In the 31 / 2 years after false rumors started that the Obama administration was giving free cellphones to poor people — and six months after a racially charged video about it went viral — a once-obscure phone service subsidy is getting renewed scrutiny on Capitol Hill.

...Lifeline was begun not by President Obama but under Ronald Reagan. It expanded to include cellphone service during the presidency of another Republican, George W. Bush.

In Obama’s first term, amid evidence of widespread fraud, the Federal Communications Commission moved to crack down on the program, saving what it predicts will be $400 million this year, on top of $214 million in 2012.

...Lifeline’s intent was inarguable enough: Phone service is “crucial to full participation in our society and economy,” the FCC noted in the order creating Lifeline on Jan. 8, 1985.

Expanding Lifeline to cellphone service reflected not only technology but also the reality of how poor people live. Last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that slightly more than half of adults in poverty lived in households that had only wireless phone service.

But in the view of many conservatives, the “Obama phone” has become Exhibit A in the case against a liberal president who they believe is doling out goodies to make people more dependent on government.

...Lifeline, however, is not funded by taxes; it subsists on fees that are tacked on to most phone bills. That fund subsidizes a number of programs, which in addition to Lifeline include telecommunications service to rural and remote areas and to schools and libraries.

...The more substantive problem that has plagued Lifeline has little to do with either side’s political philosophy. When it was expanded to cover cellphone service in 2008, regulators included few safeguards against fraud.

As a result, there have been widespread reports that cellular providers, eager to collect a subsidy for each low-income subscriber, signed people up without verifying their eligibility. Some recipients also snapped up multiple phones in violation of a one-per-household rule.

...The FCC implemented a set of regulations last year that required detailed audits every two years of companies that receive more than $5 million from Lifeline and imposed new requirements on subscribers to prove their eligibility and recertify it each year.

The agency has also reviewed 12.5 million subscriber records, eliminating what it says were 1.1 million duplicate subscriptions. And it is developing a national database of Lifeline subscribers to prevent fraud.

Under the Reagan and Bush administrations, that is what they were, lifeline phones. Only three phone numbers were allowed to be called from these phones at that time. Now they can call whoever they want, whenever they want with 250 minutes added automatically every 30 days. They also have all the text messaging they want..... Thanks to Obama. And on top of that, I learned from a girl in the dentist office that had one, they can get a new one every year. oh and yes, she was paying with Medicaid whereas I was paying with my insurance. And her phone was a droid. I just wonder what type of upgrade the Obama administration will give them next!

Lifeline: Affordable Telephone Service for Income-Eligible Consumers
http://www.fcc.gov/guides/lifeline-and-link-a...

Background
Lifeline is a government benefit program that provides discounts on monthly telephone service for eligible low-income consumers to help ensure they have the opportunities and security that telephone service affords, including being able to connect to jobs, family, and 911 services. Lifeline is supported by the federal Universal Service Fund (USF).

How Do I Qualify for Lifeline Discounts?
The Lifeline program is available to eligible low-income consumers in every state, territory, commonwealth, and on Tribal lands. You must be eligible to enroll. To participate in the program, consumers must either have an income that is at or below 135% of the federal Poverty Guidelines or participate in one of the following assistance programs...

view-source:http://www.snopes. com/politics/taxes/cellphone.a sp
The Lifeline program originated in 1984, during the administration of Ronald Reagan; it was expanded in 1996, during the administration of Bill Clinton; and its first cellular provider service (SafeLink Wireless) was launched by in 2008, during the administration of George W. Bush. All of these milestones were passed prior to the advent of the Obama administration.

The Lifeline program only covers monthly discounts on landline or wireless telephone service for eligible consumers. It does not pay cellular companies to provide free cell phones to consumers, although some cellular service providers choose to offer that benefit to their Lifeline customers.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases-test/...
FACT #3: Lifeline treats landlines and cell phones exactly the same. Prior to 2008, the federal Lifeline program offered a benefit of $10 a month for landline phones used by eligible, low-income Americans. In 2008, the Bush Administration's FCC brought Lifeline into the 21st Century by making available exactly the same benefit for wireless phones. The federal government had already decided that universal telecommunications access is a national priority and the creation of wireless Lifeline simply extended the goal set more than two decades earlier during the Reagan Administration. Important note: Only one Lifeline supported service (landline or wireless) may be obtained by any household.

FACT #4: Cell phones are not subsidized under wireless Lifeline. Companies that offer free phones under Lifeline wireless cover the cost of the phones themselves. No tax dollars and no portion of Universal Service Fund support is used to offset the free phones that some wireless Lifeline companies provide to their customers.

I agree with everthing but we never got repaid for the war in Iraq with their oil. Iraq has tremendous reserves but is still pumping only a fraction of it's potential. Once cheney and bush deceived us into that war oil became secondary. You see these carnivorous human flesh eaters got what they wanted and to hell with their fellow countrymen. Hitler did the same thing and when Germany was losing he wanted to kill all Germans for letting him down. Iraq oil should have reimbursed America for it's expenses but if you read this topix forum you will see that we did not demand more from our f-up leaders who got away so far with murder and grand theft of our national treasury.

Now, before you go jumping on the bandwagon with your libtard views, McCain or Romney would not have been my choices either. So keep up your raving because I was a stanch Bush supporter, as were my entire family. We earned that right because we are a military family. Husband and two children have fought in these Wars. Now, have a blessed day!

Sorry, don't have time to see if someone has already covered this, so sorry if redundant.

So all of you on the Left who were so incensed that Romney paid "only" 14% in taxes in 2011 (we'll just ignore the difference between income vs capital gains rates since y'all don't seem to understand the difference)-- How do you feel about the Obama's only paying an effective rate of 18%. Any problems with that, hmmmmm?

I've posted essentially the same information on here multiple times. The right-wing nut-jobs simply don't care how factual what you're saying is. If the facts don't line-up right with their Obama-hate - PooF!- the fact disappears never to be acknowledged. Which is why you just can't get anywhere with these types.

A great idea would be for you to join the real world instead of listening to and your left wing nutjobs. Turn off your left wing news and stop reading your left wing articles. Instead, talk to does it actually have an Obama phone. Personally, I have talked to several.
