Wow - that articulate, factually supported argument was very persuasive.
Don't worry, when you reach high school, they might have a debate class that will teach you how infantile and childish a post like that is, and how educated grown ups will think you must have fallen on your head as a baby not to understand that.
I hope that head injury doesn't give you headaches. Now you know why the government regulates the height of cribs.
I think you have just made my point for me. The government regulates everything. About all that is left is when to s**t, breath, sleep, already working on what to eat and drink, how many children to have and where to live.
You are just going to love it!

Oh, I forgot to say and this is for the Common Good of the People.
Who needs a U.S.Constitution when the government does and knows all?

I'm glad they do.

It's great that government regulations mean:

- Planes don't usually explode;
- Cars don't usually explode;
- Kids bedding and pajamas aren't kindling for fire;
- 30,000 people a year live that would have died in car crashes;
- Millions haven't died from nuclear generating plants melting down;
- 35.000 people a year live that would have died from medical malpractice;
- The guy down the street can't own a howitzer;
- Planes don't crash into each other 17 times a day over Atlanta;
- The public schools can't teach the world is 6,000 years old, and other nonsense;
- The guy who built the building I office in was certified in construction technologies;
- Deputies try to prevent crazies with guns from wiping out my kids' schools;
- The pizza that was just delivered cane from a store that was inspected to avoid killing my family with botulism;
- My Dad, me, and my kids could and have enjoyed public grade schools, high schools, colleges, and graduate schools;
- My neighbor can't put a nuclear waste dump on his land;
- The title insurance company insuring my Cabin has to pay me if the title to it is clouded;
- My parents lived good lives after retirement with Social Security and Medicare despite having devoted their entire lives to helping others at low paying jobs;
- Drunk drivers go to jail and their risk to my kids is limited;
- My neighbors house in Florida won't fling parts through my walls during a hurricane;
- The hurricane insurance company I pay premiums to has to pay when damage occurs;
- The gas lines that run to my town don't explode every couple of months;
- The houses where my kids sleep over don't burn down because the electricians were licensed;
- The bank where I have my accounts is safe because FDIC insures my accounts;
- The tires SUVs don't explode and cause hundreds of crashes killing dozens of kids;

Yep, I like government regulations, anyone who doesn't is insane, and should enjoy the benefits of Somalia.

Oh,yes. Because plane and car manufacturers want their products to be dangerous and kill their customers, it is such a great way to increase sales. And nuclear power plants otherwise would be designed to fail because that is so profitable for a company. And on and on and on. This is just as intelligent as saying Republicans want the air and water their children breath and drink to be polluted.
But that is what passes for "reasoned" debate with a liberal.

Most regulations and laws should be done by the individual states and local cities. There are way to many laws by them and you just love all the endless laws and regulations of the Federal Government. Your love to be told what to do 24 hours a day just amazes me. I bet you hated to move out of your parents home. You did move out didn't you?

+1 Excellent points that you made. This was my point in a previous post. The government must always have a reason to save us from something so it can buy up, make new laws, or literally regulate business's out of business if that is their goal. The government says we are protecting you. I say who is protecting us from the government? They sound Marxist or maybe Fascist to me.
They let us do the work of running a business but tell us how to run our business. If we do not do exactly what we are told they fine us and or put us out of business. Our hard work turns into money which we must give to the government so we don't go to jail for not giving our hard labor and money to them. This sounds like a mafia protection racket. Just who really owns and runs the business anyway? Its in our name as long as we do as told and give our money to the government. Looking at it this way says that the business is actually owned by the government and all the common people. This of course is for the Common Good of the people. Does this make sense?

I, along with the other conservatives on Topix, complain about the lack of checks and balances in regard to the moochers who take and don't give. Surely, even the hard working democrats get TIRED of paying for those who are able bodied, but just don't want to work and game the system for all it's worth.
Ah, the Makers/Takers argument. The only one the working-class right-wingers have the ability see. They just disregard everything else because they don't like facts that don't fit their world-view.

It's all: I have to get up in the morning everyday and go to work, and they take taxes out of my check! And when I went to Walmart I saw a black person that looked like a low-life. I don't want my money going to him! I don't even like him.

That is the truth. That is the REAL basis of non-wealthy support for the Republican party.

You can throw facts and logic at them all day long and it's like water off a duck. They just think that they're having to give money to somebody who is lazy. Screw the facts and logic and being educated.

Of course the WEALTHY right-wing nut-jobs do everything they possibly can to promote this thinking, including funding and constructing the largest propaganda machine in the history of mankind. Why do they do this? They need votes for people willing to help them exploit more people for the sake of their wealth. They know they can't get those votes based on logic, so they get them based on emotion from stupid people. And the stupider you keep the people, the better life gets for big-oil and Wall Street.

So there you have it. That is what's going on.

Chickenbutt, there is no hope for you.You actually sit around and think you know what everyone is thinking. You are a mind reader. Your dislike of people that have worked hard and have some money really shows. Actually you are a narcissist and an arrogant one at that. You look at things as if it is always the well to do peoples fault. Those damn conservatives are just so stupid is what you think. Not all conservatives are rich or well off. They just believe in Freedom and the pursuit of happiness. They believe in right and wrong and have ethics. Most conservatives have common sense. You don't. Perhaps if you were one of them you would see things differently. But you never will. You are a true socialist and pretty much anti-American. You don't fool me for a moment.

Great post.

Isn't is amazing to watch how hard the very people who benefit most from those "socialist" programs, who slurp up those benefits faster than anyone else, are the same people who claim to be so "anti-socialist" ?

Isn't it amazing to watch the very people whose kids die in the Right Wing's stupid wars, and who have seen their incomes plummet - while the 1% has seen their incomes explode, are so vehement in the ludicrous claims we should all suffer more so the 1% become even richer ?

Isn't is amazing to see how regardless of drowning in facts that demonstrate they have become the "birches" of the Right Wing's 1%, instead of fighting back, like Richard Speck, they just grow their hair, put on makeup, and pretend they enjoy their subservient role ?

How else can you explain their desire to bring back a Bush clone after his almost complete destruction of our country's economy, infrastructure, and foreign relations, and military ?

That's what makes them entertaining

This whole Obama debacle is nothing more than a social experiment. Having a black guy as president was supposed to cure a lot of ills. It really hasn't worked except that we can say we've had a black president. McCain/Palin was a joke, imo. Romney, not much better. One can only speculate what a presidency with any of those people would have been. No one knows definitively. They lost. But, what we have now is completing the road to ruin.
Of course I keep bringing up the vacations. The Obamas have been riding HIGH on tax payers money from the very beginning. They didn't let the poor economy stand in their way. They have been "in our faces" with it. You can defend it all you want, but they are in YOUR face, too. Exactly WHAT has Obama actually DONE for the middle class? Just because he SAYS he is for the middle class doesn't mean ONE THING. Don't listen to what he says. Look at what he does.
BTW, how many separate vacations did Laura take in comparison to Michelle? Compare the Bush rounds of golf to the Obama rounds of golf.(Just to remind you....Bush is no longer president.)
He has stopped the Repugs in Congress from adding another huge tax increase on the middle class, pushing the larger increases on the very rich. He is trying to hold off the Repugs push on Social Security allowing old people to keep theirs and cutting it drastically on the young folks NOW funding the system! Proving to me that the Repugs donít give a damn about the people, just the elections. He also got a law passed a forcing the middle class to do the only thing that could be done to save money on health care, make everyone pay for their on health care. Nobody that watches FNC would know this, but we are becoming a big player in the world wide quest for OIL. Something that didn't happen under the oil manís rule, he was too busy trying to nationalize other countries oil by invading them under false pretense. He kept Palin for having any chance of being President, just imagine a person with NO knowledge past the state of Alaska talking to Putin!! Troops are FINALLY coming home from the Bush wars that were a waste and a drain on this country that we may NEVER recover from.
Neither Laura or Michelle are on the payroll.

Do you have a job, are you in the lower or middle class? If so, you should have already seen that your take home pay got reduced when Obama ended the Bush tax cuts for working people. So the only thing Obama has done for the middle class is increase their taxes. Oh, and let's keep up the fiction that the "rich" don't pay their fair share. Let's just ignore that the top 1% pay 37% of the taxes, the top 5% pay 59% and the top 10% pay 70%. Annoying little facts. And the only thing Obamacare will do is destroy what has been the best (not perfect) healthcare system in the world - rationing of care, here we come.
"Big player in the world wide quest for oil" - Sure, if you mean that he allows other countries to drill off our shores while NOT allowing American companies to do the same - more jobs down the drain. His 2013 budget proposal includes $45 BILLION in tax and fee increases on domestic energy production -
yeah, that's a great way to incentivize energy producers to create jobs.
Lastly, da-n right Michelle is not on the payroll - I just wish she would quit acting like she was.
