This is why I don't believe in jail sentences for car crashes that are obviously tragic accidents. Unless the driver was somehow impaired, was driving recklessly, or deliberately put others in danger, then a car accident is that - an accident.
Most people don't set out to kill someone when they get in their car. Jail is for criminals. I don't consider someone involved in a tragic accident that took a life to be a criminal. Driving is a dangerous thing. Most of us take it for granted. But any day it could be any one of us who accidently causes the automobile death of another person. Jail isn't the answer for these situations.
