"National Highway Traffic Safety Administration accused Toyota of concealing its testing of the problem and changes made in overseas models from regulators last year, admitting to only complaints from U.S. owners."

This is bad, very bad.

JJ, that's not as "dolt-like")as you surmise.
While it's true, the Govt. may not be trying to fund bailouts for GM, Chrysler, et al,with their recent condemnations of Toyota, it's clear that there's a nasty little political agenda at work.
The politicos are using the Toyota issues to score big brownie points with the electorate--not the least of which are the labor unions, and to lend credibility to that (knee jerk--ill advised) "Buy America" nonsense.

I agree it is just a shame that most people in theUSA do not realize how many Toyota's are built here in the USA and how many of the "big 3" models have been shipped to Canada and Mexico.

NO

How many people realize just how many American cars are NOT built in Japan?

Japan has waged economic warfare in this country for the last 60 years. Get a clue.

Buying American or Canadian is not nonsense, itÂ’s a good idea.
Lying to Congress and attempting to cover up your defects is sinister, especially when deaths are involved.

Just what is your point? Honestly and truly, I do not understand what you try to say. Explain to me how Toyota should get a free ride. How is it a foreign company can intentionally lie and you say the retribution is not warranted?
