Must not have been able to hide that one, either.
.
Once the dam of complaints has been released, that have been kept from release at Toyota, they will now have't to keep doing it.
What a Shame.
I will cry for them.

Friend asked me the other day why I bought a new Ford F150 FX4 instead of a Toyota Tacoma or Tundra.(I don't really need a full size truck, but can afford it and love it).

I said to him...Tacoma-frame rust issues for years before Toyota fixed the prob. Tundra...too worried about all the other things Toyota has been having go wrong the last few years etc...and that this company has lost it's image.

The knives are out!
The Toyota haters are massing to diss Toyota Mecca.

Funny---how is it we haven't heard about other carmaker recalls.......?
1,000,000 Ford F 150s with gas tanks falling off.
300,000 Dodge Ram pickups with broken tie rod ends.
250,000 Dodge Grand Caravans with failing tie rod assemblies.
250,000 Chrysler 3.6 L engines with connecting rod failures.
100,000 Caddy SRX and Chev Equinox/Terrains with defective seat belts.
40,000 Pontiac G8 with defective air bags.
25,000 Impala/LaCross with power steering hose failures.
And on and on.....!

Let's be fair ladies.
There are other carmakers to be concerned about.

You are correct.

But just my own personal feelings when deciding to buy a truck a few months ago was that(not sure if I just wanted the midsize Tacoma) was the issue of frame rust. My bro works with a guy in Newfoundland who had his rust out and I know 3 people myself here in New Brunswick that also had theirs rust out.

The Tundra was a nice truck....I test drove one and it was quite nice. But I just couldn't turn down the price, options etc on the F150. I'm also usually a Chevy truck guy but liked the F150 this time.

I think what so many people are getting shocked about is that Toyota has had such a reputable name both in quality and durability and what has been happening to Toyota in recent years is a bit of a shock.

I also know a guy who bought a used Camry for a second car. One evening with no warning lights etc...the motor ceased...no warnings of low oil ,check engine etc..He since went and bought a Honda .

Let's be fair.....every manufacturer has a few probs with most of it's cars. The industry measures how many probs per 100 vehicles they are having. Some manufacturers/models have lower number of probs/or not serious probs while some have higher numbers etc...

I used to work for Honda in Alliston Ontario. The Civic is a great reliable small car. I met someone one day who bought a 2000 model and had probs galore(not engine or tranny) and swore they would never buy one again. I explained to them that they bought on a model change year and the fact that it's normal to have a number per 100 that could have probs and they just happened to buy one...bad luck. I had a 2004 and put over 300,000kms on it with no trips back to the dealer for any probs..

I saw Bob Lutz on PBS last night.

Bob went on to say that Toyota image is tarnised forever and doubts it will ever come back.

Maybe so, but I wonder what Bob thinks how GM also produced alot of crap for years, bad treatment of customers at dealerships, their own recalls etc...and how the company was in financial ruin but yet GM came back. Why wouldn't another company like Toyota also be able to turn around and fix it's probs also?

Bob forgets that the tax payers of the USA and Canada handed GM a big check.

This is not a statement of hating GM....I actually like quite a few GM products, but just think Bob was quite the idiot last night.

I happen to think Lutz is a brilliant guy. But he does put his foot in his mouth regularly, doesn't he!

Why do you have so many "friends" that own Toyotas? No matter what problem is being discussed, you have a "friend" that has the problem, only much worse than anyone else. Couldn't be that you're full of bee ess, could it?
