Karl Marx theories were a big failure. For example, he defined labor as the basis of wealth. This would mean a person raking and blowing leaves would be the same value as a person with higher skills using tools and equipment to do more work. Actually, labor is losing value every day. It is resources which are the basis of wealth. Thought you might like to know that.

BTW, Karl Marx is pretty much irrelevant to anything useful. His theories didn't work. He was a useless intellectual. In today's world a leaf raker would be more valuable than Karl Marx.

problem is Karl Marx's writing are the bases of Leninism, Trotskyism, Stalinism, Maoism, and even here in the US which American Capitalism is nothing more than a hybird form of Socialism and besides what Karl Marxs would call the US economy a Mixed Economy because the US mixes parts of all three economical systems tries to incorporated them and the US is proving Karls Marxs right when he said Mixed economies will fail.

All those things have come and gone. The fact of the matter is Russia and China are holding all our debt. China is rapidly becoming the economic powerhouse of the world. What were you saying about economics? Do you have a point?

Labor is what creates wealth initially by producing objects with use value but that is communism your describing when the higher skilled worker is paid the same as the lower skill worker that is the classless society which they are both equal economically but applying it in Society, I cant even see true communism working either and Karl Marxs got that wrong, Society never gave up the Class Society.

Were you talking about public goods vs. private goods? You think all parks, roads, libraries, services etc. should be bought and sold? Who owns the resources such as water contained in an aquifer or a mine which runs under numerous properties? Do the people of Saudi Arabia own the oil or the king? Who owned it before?

I know what your saying and makes total sense and why of the complexity of Private vs Public especially balancing the two within a Society either way its comes down to some form of Socialism because I cant see one individual owning and controlling the natural resource or we would be going back towards like Classic feudalism.

Indeed. Do we really own anything in life? We can't take it with us. Suppose I buy a nice Fender Guitar. I play the shit out of it. Since I can't take it with me, didn't I just borrow it? The next would be Jimi Hendrix will play it, smash it or whatever. Do I own the air I breath or the water I drink?

You have a point about feudalism. Feudalism was somewhat related to organized crime. One gang of thugs took over an area of land. Eventually they formed some kind of power structure. The ones at the top became landlords. They offered protection to people, collected rents and fended off invaders. In return the serfs fed them and served them. They had no choice. It was almost like being a sharecropper. Now we have nation states with National Defense, Homeland Security, the TSA etc. We have to feed them so they keep us safe.

What has really changed? There is no such thing as anarchy. There is organized crime and nation states. There are those who work and do stuff and then there are the parasites who live off the toil of others. I believe Karl Marx saw this and sought to find a solution. The French Revolution killed the parasites. Eventually, they decided that the nation state was better. It happened to a lesser degree in England with Oliver Cromwell. Both countries brought back the kings. I find the idea of Kings vs. Judges in the Bible to be of interest and most likely related to Greek Philosophy.

Anyway I just had a nice rant. Was it any good or am I just another midnight rambler?
