The UK threw away their Christian beliefs and God and replaced it with secularism, liberalism and atheism.
Wishing for a society "free of religion", they ended up with islam and it's troubles.
Islamists love western liberalism. They laugh as we throw out our traditions. You don't see them throwing away their beliefs. We are afraid to offend in the name of "multiculturalism" while they do as they please.
I understand your feelings. The fact is, Xtianity, Judaism are NOT the antidote to Islamofacism. Secularism is. ONLY when partisan and religious and zealot passions, which are inherent and ubiquitous to humanity, are contained by secular government and law can anything close to civil society exist.

Hell...I know more about Islam than most muslims that I debate on these fora. I get some kicks quoting Koran and hadiths in response to passionate muslim apologists at least every week...more if the weather sucks.

I'm quite aware and deeply concerned about the UK's (CONDITIONAL, LIMITED) concession to Shari'a law. I am as obliged as you are to grit my teeth when the laws of our secular democracies have no choice but to allow extremist Imams to preach hatred against everything and everyone "infidel" in mosques that are built and protected inside the "infidel" world.

I am as frustrated as you are at the extreme left that champions the causes of Islam/muslims under the banners of "multiculturalism", "diversity" and "tolerance"...While at the same time just as passionately fight for gender equality, separation of church and state to the point of protesting nativity scenes at Xmas, the rights of gays to marry, free speech, expression, etc, etc..every principal ideal that Islam is absolutely opposed to.

I get it.

However, this agnostic's "faith" is in the rule of secular law against religious bigotry and religious dogma that violates the core civil rights that secular democracies fought to achieve and fight to uphold.

The more arrogant and demanding and threatening Islamists are in the secular democratic nations that have welcomed them, the less real power and influence they will have. Take stock of the outrage and indignation coming from muslims living in the "infidel" world. They would be far less aggressive and offensive if they felt secure, or if the abominations of their religion that they want to practice in the "infidel" world would be permitted by secular law.

Islamist terror attacks laid bare the ambitions of muslim fundamentalists who live in the "infidel" world. Muslims who live in the "infidel" world know that they are under surveillance. They know that "infidels" hold Islam in both contempt and suspicion.

Intense scrutiny has been focused on muslims. Might not be "fair", but too damn bad. Not even political correctness has distracted the "infidel" world from monitoring and reacting to Islamist threats; on the macroscopic scale of terrorist attacks, AND on individual and specific prosecution of crimes committed by muslims like forced marriages, minor girls sold into marriage, killings of apostates, "honor" killings, domestic violence, etc.

Any and all attempts to permit religion to impose upon secular life and law are dangerous. They must be resisted regardless of the temptation to hold one religion as the antidote to another.

His visit here is really a non-event, as far as I am concerned.

I will just avoid switching on the TV set for a while: we hear enough bullsh*t as it is from politicians, we don't need the Pope on top of that !! Agreed ?

Oscar wild had opined that sitting in Jail is better and not bitter.
I wish not to pollute the Jail with the presence of any religious holy CEOs

Given what I have been told re. the sexual proclivities of incarcerated men, I think jail is a perfect venue for "justice" to be performed on the pedophile priests and those that enabled them.
