Full story: ABC News

The entire fleet of navy ships from around the world, including from my country, that patrol that area are a laughingstock for theses Somali sh*tbags.

Under current maritime international laws, there are even cases where suspected pirates are let go after one of our navies search their ragtag vessels. They have to be caught in the actual act of piracy or some other criminal activity.

Far as I'm concerned, any vessel of any type with Somalis and and even one gun on board should be blown to bits and everyone become instant shark feed.

Very sad what happened to these people.

Somalis=useless sh*t DNA.

Why didn't the crew of the warship blind and maim all the pirates to make sure they didn't do it again? I guess the "civil rights" and "human rights" of the pirates who permanently threw such rights away are more important than those of the Americans. Too bad there aren't any real patriots here willing to eliminate anyone with Somalian ancestry from America.

And I have a beef with God in this. They were there to distribute Bibles for God, yet God betrayed them, punished them for obeying Him, and let them down. If you cannot trust God to protect you, and He has a bad track record these days, then how do we know that "Salvation" isn't a hoax too?

Can you really help Liberals or People of Color and it be appreciated? Too many times, they get into power and defecate upon the very ones who put them in power. It is about like Fred Phelps, launching vitriol on the very people who won for him the right to spew such hate.

While I won't go as far as to say the 4 Americans deserved to murdered, I don't feel sorry for them either. If they want to believe in a religion, fine, but keep it private. I simply can not stomach the zealots who feel the need to spread their beliefs to those who are not interested, or gasp, actually have different beliefs. Personally, I detest all religions.

Forget they wanted to distribute Bibles, the fact remains Somalia is a sh*thole that produces the sh*thead pirates.

No one should lose focus that this Somali piracy issue has gone on long enough.

I agree that what these individuals did was risky, but remember, they were ordinary people kidnapped on the high seas, hundreds of miles from land. Their religion does not alter the fact that they were murdered.

If anyone thinks that the pirates had the right to kill them because of their Christian faith, then we have a whole new world of massacre.

And the pirates keep expanding their area of operations. It is now at well over a million square miles, or roughly larger than the country of India. They are far from "Somali" waters at this point. The pirates are well financed, using larger vessels each year. They also are at one of the most important waterways in the world. Soon enough you will see pirate activity as far away as the Thai coast or even the southern Atlantic.

This piracy needs to be put down, by any means needed. I would be more than agreeable in giving any national Navy with ships in that region the absolute right of life or death over any pirate they catch, and they authority to sink at will any vessel coming from any pirate coast, with impunity. If that means that such pirates be summarily executed at sea, so be it. I admit this policy is harsh, but I see no other way about ending this pirate business.

I guess it goes to calling. If you are actually called to go wherever, God may pave a way for you. But if you are acting on your own and refuse to take precautions, while calling it "faith," you are on your own. Take Bruce Olsten (tribal name "Bruchco"). He was certain of his calling. He tried to get on with several missions boards who all gave various objections. But the calling only strengthened. So he felt called to go on his own. His journey was a comedy of errors, but he eventually made progress.

By comedy of errors, I mean, Bruce ran into things like becoming in need in the beginning, and it was Catholics who helped him, despite he being Protestant. When the word got back to the reluctant mission boards, they branded him a heretic. Then when he eventually reached his destination, he had no clue he was at a tribe other than intended. The tribe captured him and blamed him for bad luck, saying the gods were angry with them for them being nice to him. The reason he had any compassion at all was because the chief's son had other opinions than the chief. The chief got drunk and tortured him and commanded that he be put to death to stop the curse or whatever. Then Bruce mysteriously develops a bad case of hepatitis, and they treat him with sympathy and compassion because their customs dictated compassion towards the seriously ill. He managed to make outside contact and get a medical missionary to take him to a hospital. The tribe thought he was doomed because a "dragon in the sky devoured him." They never saw a helicopter before. And when he got well enough to come back, they were super nice to him, since "the beast in the air spit him back out."

Before long, Bruce became accepted as one of them. What helped was that he had a different approach than most establishment missionaries. He wasn't there with hostility and out to bring immediate changes. Instead, he tried winning friends and influencing people. Most missionaries of the day would marginalize the "witch doctors" where they went. Instead, he respected their authority and taught them a few things. An example of this was when he noticed an outbreak of eye infection. He touched someone's eye area and then his own eye. We know how that worked out. So with conjunctivitis, he approached the witch doctor, who was already discouraged, since none of his chants helped the others. He tried to convince him to use some antibiotic salve he brought and to say the words. The doctor just started applying the salve to everyone, and left the rituals behind. So good science won the day. Then he taught the leaders about sanitation. He put some dirt under a microscope, and the witch doctor proclaimed that the ground was cursed, since it was crawling. Then Bruce sprayed some disinfectant on the slide and put it back, and nothing was moving. The witch doctor was amazed.

He then went on to create a written language for them. He wanted to teach the youth, and the elders resisted at first, saying it was their job, and that he needed to teach them first. Eventually, there was a mass conversion, and the people faced other challenges like colonialism attempts from outside, and piracy. But most survived.
