We reap what we sow.
It's NOT just cars, a majority of oil goes to plastics which are not a consumer desired product but a manufacturing desired product. You might want to look at the bigger picture.

Another thing.
That Gulf of Mexico environmental catastrophe IS NOT AN "OIL SPILL"--it is gush from hell at 20,000 to 70,000 PSI!!!
Treating it as an "oil spill" is simply repetitive media-spin propaganda!
Also, the crude oil already contaminating the Gulf is much greater than mainstream media (like CNN) is ALLOWED to report!
What I am concerned about is what will happen if a hurricane hits.
Wouldn't the water be picked up and dispersed on land?

With what has been allowed to spew into the gulf so far--there's bound to real contamination threats to freshwater reservoirs, underground aquifers, farms in southern U.S. states, the eastern Mexican coast and Caribbean Islands adjoining the Gulf "ground zero" disaster area.

Even overhead electrical power-lines, exposed factory equipment, or industrial complexes would experience risks--since the V.O.C. stuff once aerolized into storm clouds may be in concentrations great enough to become toxic, flammable or corrosive--especially with repeated storm activity and accumulations.

People who live in coastal areas, especially southern to mid-Atlantic states should prudently begin now to plan potential evacuations scenarios (inland--away from there present coastal locations).

Planning for potential evacuations--and how not to be caught up in some chaotic panicked mass-exodus. With imposed martial law-like controlled traffic movements along the escape routes.

Risk signals might be approaching bad weather and air saturation levels (pollution). Samples in the parts per million of Volatile Organic Compounds.

If you do experience these types of inconveniences--thank Mr."Hope-and-Change" , Goldman Sachs, and the nice folks at BP.

obama promised that the federal government was in charge of BP and of the cleanup. He lied then and he's quiet now.
He has had a year in office idiot.

People get pissed when government says too much. while other people get pissed when governemnt says to little.

The november polls are not going to say crap. Enless the republicans pull another 2001 election..

Palin is an attractive, middle aged, moose eating woman with lots of star power and appeal that should take her anywhere she wants to go.

Politics may not be her calling.

She is, what any one of us could be, blessed that an old politician fingered her, and all she needed from that point were to write some silly book...and become an instant millionaire.

Anyone want my assessment of any other politician?

I would love to cartoon them for popular newspapers, because they are laughable, and anybody who takes any of them seriously is in a sad state.

I am not jumping up and down, no more than Kevin Costner is to try and get some real oil cleanup products to the Gulf other than the oil dispersant chemicals BP is using that is not approved in the USA and is ruining the envirement in the Gulf just to mention a couple problems, as far as Obama his Leadership skills need alot to desire! If you have a problem with that you better believe that no one at the White House is reading any of this so if I wanted to finger point what would it matter? Would it keep you up at night or something, lmao.....Do you even understand what is going on here and how Obama took money from BP for his election and then shut down safety inspections on the Deep Horizon and other BP rigs. We the USA need to stop our dependence on oil, in my book we are like heroin addicts when we go to any gas station in our Cadialliac Escalade that need our fix so we americans can drive to our oil soaked beach's to look for 5 minutes and drive 500 miles back home and brag to our friends geesh I went to the Beach today, lmao. If you really want me to start finger pointing I sure can do worse than this for sure!

Look at the sick people right now from the oil,,imagine if a hurricane hits how many will be sick from the oil in the air?

I think your right and I think they are starting to realize these facts to prepare as F.E.M.A. is usless ever since the US Admin took it away from the old timer Ham Radio Op's and put the job in to untrained people who don't know shit from shinola, it's a mess from small Gov. to the White House.

What kind of diseases are people going to get or do they even know?

Praises to "Oh MY Lord". You know what you are talking about.

This country should have gotten off of oil decades ago, albeit gradually, like the addiction you illustrated plainly.

We are in unchartered waters (pardon the pun).

I know I can never swim in the ocean again, but that isn't the real problem.

The problem is....

We allowed combination of governemtn and corporate greed to dominate our lives ever sntce Reagan took us out of recession.

They have been in bed with each other, BECAUSE, not one president has ever gotten on t.v. and spoke to us, the gullible public, about all the risks involved with exploring for oil reserves in lieu of the FACT that America doesn't have the potential of a middle eastern nation with readily available oil supply.

WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THAT NATION THAT WOULD LEAD THE ENTIRE WORLD BY OUR EXAMPLE ALONE, FROM THE DARK AGES OF OIL DEPENDENCY, TO THE BRIGHT FUTURE OF ALTERNATIVES THAT ARE GAINING EACH DAY, BUT NOT GETTING THEIR DUE RESPECT AND FOLLOWING.

Wasn't Exxon Valdez enough insight into the destructive element of oil?

Note: Exxon has yet to pay up for that disaster!

And so, "Oh My Lord", I agree with your assessment, and we should be ashamed of ourselves when we fill that guzzler up.

I, for one, don't own an S.U.V., and never will.

I use my vehicle sparingly, and opt for other means of transportation, which includes "shanks mare" (walking).

Thank You Oh My LORD!

When the chemical-associated birth defects, respiratory epidemics and cancers begin to materialize--the current crop of sociopath politicians will be off the public spotlight. likewise, the current BP slick-talking spokesmen and executives will also be unreachable--they, safely behind walls of legal procedural court stallings.

Right now BP's preoccupation is capturing and processing the precious sweet-crude (and obvious in their crisis handling). Profit is still their primary focus. The cumulative environmental damage worsened by inappropriate, insufficient remediation and sea-water contaminated polluting oil is quietly shifted to the affected population. BP does not have an established history of major industrial accidents by "bungling accident"--there's a specific "don't give damn" corporate mindset in effect amongst their upper hierarchy.

Keep in mind that British Petroleum has generously invested in Barack Obama--and there will be returns on that investment.

Well, thatís what angry unqualified street agitators do; they lash out at a big company and get their 'true believer' followers to pile on, perfect example was his public scolding of The United States Supreme Court justices that were attending obamaís first State of the Union speech and in an extreme un-presidential moment encouraged the Democrats to stand up and intimidate them as well. obama is a bitter man and despite all the lofty speeches and big talk, obama has proven to be impotent, inept and categorically unqualified to run our country. If he wasnít so obsessed with serving up all that "social justice" by invading the private sector and stuffing the pockets of entitlement program recipients to buy votes maybe he could have been remembered as a president that stood for real hope and change. This is a soft-handed Ivy Leaguer that has never run a business nor understood the cost of anything, voted into office by a generation of the entitled and the ignorant. People think that having traveled the world and having lived in other countries someone increases your management skills. obama is the definition of a cult of personality and a dangerous ideologue, with no real world experience. If the Republicans manage to take back the House and Senate in November impeachment proceedings will start immediately in an effort to save America from Socialism and obamaís despot-like tyranny.
