Lance Armstrong's confession seems to be just another calculation

There are 87 comments on the The Washington Post story from Jan 16, 2013, titled Lance Armstrong's confession seems to be just another calculation. In it, The Washington Post reports that:

Sadly, even Lance Armstrong's contrition is contrived, it seems. His mea culpa to Oprah Winfrey - always guaranteed to bump a miscreant's Q rating - is not actually about apologizing to his fans and coming clean, so to speak, about his use of performance-enhancing drugs.

I don't think michael vick was the one who instigated his being busted for torturing dogs to death. He tried to blame his cousin and everybody else until he was finally locked down, and had no way out. The fact that what he did 'had nothing to do with his sport' does not erase the fact that what he did was evil, sadistic, and disgusting. Yet people want to put him up on a pedestal now, as someone to be admired. Really?? If people can overlook what michael vick did, then why do they want to crucify Armstrong for taking drugs and lying? Last time I checked, he didn't starve, electrocute, fight, hang, or beat any living thing to death. IMO, that is far worse than someone who takes drugs and lies.
The fact that you would say that Lance Armstrong is much worse than michael vick, actually shows IMO that your priorities are really screwed up.
"Instigated?" Neither of them "instigated" their own exposure and, in Vick's case, arrest. Of course his actions were disgusting, I'm only saying that he paid the price for that. What do you want them to do, execute him for dogfighting?

I don't really care what you think about my "priorities." Clearly you're an animal-rights nut obsessed more over animals than humans or human values, so I'll leave you to it. Go cover yourself with lettuce or something.

After reading several of your posts it's apparent you're a miserable human being.

Do you always treat people that hold opposing viewpoints with such contempt, or just here where your nose, jaw, and teeth are protected by anonymity?

I treat people with the kindness, or the contempt, which they deserve. You ignored the other poster's attacks on me, but criticize me for replying in kind. This shows you're nothing but a cowardly hypocrite yourself, and are still stinging from some of the beatings I've given your posts in the past.

Get lost, loser. I'm laughing at your Internet Tough Guy act, BTW.

Couldn't agree more about his confession being calculated. I came across the following. An interview and an analysis of Lance's body language:

LMAO--that's the point you miss--whoosh -- goes right over your head again, PROFESSOR, LMAO...

Buddy, if michael vick can be forgiven for torturing and killing animals for over 10 years of his life for fun, AND welcomed back into professional sports, why does it make sense to choose to crucify Lance Armstrong, who although he cheated, he still had nothing to do with intentionally torturing and killing any other living thing? Agreed, Armstrong, of course should never be allowed to participate in professional sports again, but to continue to crucify him, when a sadist like michael vick is out there playing pro sports, endorsing products, and just recently had a reality tv show, just doesn't make any sense.

Let's try this again:
IMO Your priorities are messed up if you consider taking drugs and lying as being a worse offense than lying AND drowning, hanging, electrocuting, fighting, starving, shooting, and beating dogs to death for fun. NOT an isolated incident either, repeatedly for over 10 years..

Now the creeps who finked on Lance are coming out of the woods and trying to get respect. But we must not forget they are finks, plain and simple. This is not wartime, not lives were lost, no children hurt, it's just all about egos. Lance did a couple things out of the rules and has paid, done. The finks however will always be useless creeps to never trust.

Missing the point chuckle heads. Michael Vick and make people rich. Lance is done, and if you really think he has had an impact on cancer research and not just lined another set of pocket, then clueless to you. This will blow over for Lance and he'll ultimately go back to being the most widely known athelete in the world and for good cause, a little EPO and he's not the man? Try it if you think you can do better.

Get off his back already. He has lost everything, and that is enough. While lowlifes like michael vick are free to be heroes in the NFL, ya'll want to crucify this guy. Let's crucify the one's that deserve it, ie sick vick.
Lance is a doper, a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a thief, and SO MUCH MORE! Had you had to compare Lance Armstrong to another famous liar, Michael Vick would not be Lance's equal. Michael Vick didn't lie in court, or to the public. Michael Vick did jail time! Has Lance done jail time? Has Lance lied in court, or to the public, while trying to sue others in order to protect his dark legacy?

If you want to compare Lance to a public figure, compare him to OLIVER NORTH! Lance is the CONTRA-drugs-Iran arms dealer of the cycling world. Before you start in on Michael Vick, look again and say that Lance has done penance in the form of jail time for his crimes/actions, like Michael Vick did.

It is apologists like YOU that destroy the facets of society that some people actually enjoy. Now, they are talking about REMOVING cycling from the Olympics, because of cheaters like Lance. That is good work, huh Jenni? Is this all because you are hoping to ride his one nut, because Sheryl Crow left his cheating, pathetic ass? You are one sick apologist, JenniferInSC!

I wonder if he really HAD cancer to begin with - or was it just ANOTHER fabrication (with the help of others) as kind of an excuse to help in case he really got caught taking drugs...
If he didn't have it then, he SHOULD have it NOW.
And he shouldn't be given any slack or consideration for turning in others - not after all these years of bald-faced lying should he be given ANY benefit for telling the truth.
Everybody turned on Lance...who could Lance turn on now? The physicians that helped him cheat? The sponsors that paid bribes to other physicians that ACCURATELY detected that Lance Armstrong had FAILED tests, which would have crushed his cycling career, like Nike? Is he going to rat out the chemists that formulated the masking agents that served to beat the WADA and IOC doping tests 99% of the time?

Maybe if he had something NEW to add to this whole fiasco, it would be then that MAYBE there could be some consideration in showing Lance some leniency...that would be in the form of taking 75% of what his estate is worth now, and not locking him up in prison, for his cooperation...what say you about that, Lance apologists?

YOU DON'T KNOW IF LANCE HAD FELLOW TEAM MEMBERS BEAT UP, ELECTROCUTED, HUNG, STARVED OR WORSE, BECAUSE THESE HUMANS DID NOT FALL IN LINE WITH HIS DOPING SCHEME!

It is rumoured that if you were NOT down with Lance, then Lance had your career TERMINATED! You could not ride with the USPS or for Team America if you were at odds with Lance. And Lance had physicians, lawyers AND sponsors covering his ass...what did the innocent cyclers have where it came to retribution against Lance? Lance affected the sport of cycling...Michael Vick did not affect the sport of football.

If you are looking SO HARD for an NFL player to crucify, why you looking at Michael Vick, of whom did jail time for his crime? Why are you not looking at your beloved Ben Roethlisberger, the two time Super Bowl champion, that raped two teenagers at a party? Shows where your focus is...I suppose that Michael Vick is more of a hindrance to the NFL for doing time for the crimes that he was caught up in, rather than a rapist like 'Big Ben', that has yet, to this day, spent even one day in jail.

Money talks, right Jenni? Pages from Oliver North's book on how to avoid jail time...throw money at the problem, and lie your ass off to the authorities! Let's see how Lance fares, shall we? KMT!

Uh, were talking about SPORTS here. I couldn't care less if athletes cheat and take drugs because sports don't matter. They are mindless entertainment for the easily amused. Oh, I have plenty of ethics -- concerning IMPORTANT things -- so you can stop judging. Arrogant ass.
Sports don't matter TO YOU, though sports DO matter to A LOT of people...and sports is what LARGELY contributes to the economy of the nation that YOU live in...

How about you turn around and tell your federal government that sports doesn't matter, and that because of rampant drug use, of which should draw the attention of the government (since drug dealing and drug use is ILLEGAL in your nation), get the government and the D.E.A. to OUTLAW sports, and any revenues that come about from sports, and see where your precious nation will be in 2 YEARS!

Quit acting the saint, you sanctimonious retard! Sports keeps your nation afloat, you pompous asshole! This is why ETHICS actually matters in this issue, and in the whole scope of sports, dumbass!

So...are you denying that you are an animal rights activist and animal lover...even ABOVE Human rights, and especially WOMEN'S rights, like in the case of Ben Roethlisberger's rape victims, both being teenage college girls?

Yeah...got your fingers twisted on that one, right? So...what's more important? That a man went to jail for his crimes of dogfighting, or that another man never went to jail for raping women? Or, that another drug dealing cheat and fraud didn't go to jail for lying in court, for defaming other people through his lawyers, and involving himself in bribery scandals, to not have his ass exposed years ago, during his doping days as a cyclist...which now will destroy the whole sport of cycling, and likely have it stripped from the Olympics (maybe in time for Brazil 2016...)?

Good to know that YOU have your priorities straight, fucking hypocrite!
