Lance Armstrong's confession seems to be just another calculation

Full story: The Washington Post

Sadly, even Lance Armstrong's contrition is contrived, it seems. His mea culpa to Oprah Winfrey - always guaranteed to bump a miscreant's Q rating - is not actually about apologizing to his fans and coming clean, so to speak, about his use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Lance is an expert liar, cheater, and manipulator as we all now know. NOTHING he says is in any way believable, and even when he admits SOME of the truth, as he now seems ready to do, it will be for the greater good of Lance.

Word is that he's even as we speak negotiating with the doping agency and with the DOJ to get bans and possible indictments against him dropped. That's going on behind the scenes, and that's his goal - to do a mea culpa on the Goddess of Forgiveness' show, get his punishments reduced or eliminated, and go back to "competing" and fooling the public.

He's filth. Do NOT trust anything this man says or does.

Get off his back already. He has lost everything, and that is enough. While lowlifes like michael vick are free to be heroes in the NFL, ya'll want to crucify this guy. Let's crucify the one's that deserve it, ie sick vick.

Jennifer, Michael Vick was arrested, convicted, and did time in jail for his crimes. He later apologized in depth for them, and only after seeing his career put in the crapper was he eventually given a second chance. His crimes had NOTHING TO DO with his sport, either.

Armstrong, OTOH, committed cheating and doping offenses connected WITH HIS SPORT, he has never until now admitted to ANYTHING wrong, he conspired with others to cheat, win medals, and make tons of money, and as if that wasn't bad enough, he accused, threatened, smeared and sued anyone who tried to expose him.

The two cases are nothing alike. Armstrong's is MUCH worse.

It's not as if cheating, lying, false lawsuits, threats, and smearing of other people's character were WRONG or anything, huh, Petey?

I supported Lance Armstrong in several topix forums & threads, believing he was innocent, even despite numerous bicyclists testifying against him. But now, he is guilty & more than personal usage of drugs.

The sins of Lance Armstrong goes beyond his personal involvement with drugs, which is reprehensible.
Professional bicycling is a team event in the greatest definition of the concept. Lance constructed & led several teams of competitors. Testimony from many competitors named Mr. Armstrong as a doper..... even bicyclers on his own team & of his own country. Beyond that, & due to his leadership, he encouraged others to dope, if not outright, demanded that other teammates dope.

Yes, by definition, it appears that Mr. Armstrong must have been a drug dealer or as near to a drug dealer as you can get.

The wreckage to professional bicycling is worse than the bicycle accident that sent one of the riders into a barb-wire fence! Such an honorable sport, showing true courage by partakers, is cut to pieces by drugs, those that use drugs & now those that run drug rings behind the scenes.

I wonder if he really HAD cancer to begin with - or was it just ANOTHER fabrication (with the help of others) as kind of an excuse to help in case he really got caught taking drugs...

If he didn't have it then, he SHOULD have it NOW.

And he shouldn't be given any slack or consideration for turning in others - not after all these years of bald-faced lying should he be given ANY benefit for telling the truth.

At least, Lance did not do what Mao did....... murder, torture & starve to death 100 million of his own BROTHERS, SISTERS, CHILDREN & BABIES by bashing & bullets. Mao ran the greatest democidal genocide on the face of (& underneath) the Earth, double the savagery of Hitler & Stalin, COMBINED.

I believe it was Armstrong who leaked the information that he had "confessed" to the media immediately after the interview, before anyone has heard what he actually told Oprah.

I think he did so, because now many people will believe that he made a full confession about everything, even if it turns out that he only made vague statements and half-confessions.

This way, he has manipulated public opinion in his favor to the extent possible, and at the same time minimized his exposure to lawsuits, claims of perjury, etc.

I don't think michael vick was the one who instigated his being busted for torturing dogs to death. He tried to blame his cousin and everybody else until he was finally locked down, and had no way out. The fact that what he did 'had nothing to do with his sport' does not erase the fact that what he did was evil, sadistic, and disgusting. Yet people want to put him up on a pedestal now, as someone to be admired. Really?? If people can overlook what michael vick did, then why do they want to crucify Armstrong for taking drugs and lying? Last time I checked, he didn't starve, electrocute, fight, hang, or beat any living thing to death. IMO, that is far worse than someone who takes drugs and lies.

The fact that you would say that Lance Armstrong is much worse than michael vick, actually shows IMO that your priorities are really screwed up.

Uh, were talking about SPORTS here. I couldn't care less if athletes cheat and take drugs because sports don't matter. They are mindless entertainment for the easily amused. Oh, I have plenty of ethics -- concerning IMPORTANT things -- so you can stop judging. Arrogant ass.

the reason why lance is confessing now?

he probably thinks that by doing so, he'll be treated like hillary, rangel, holder, and all those other corrupt politicians got treated after what they did.

I mean. think about it. hillary got away with murder. so did holder. and the pos rangel got away with tax fraud.

compared to what those guys did, lance didn't do anything.
