Report: Iran's navy aims to put warships near US shores 'in the next few years'

Full story: The Washington Post

TEHRAN, Iran - The head of Iran's navy says the country aims to put its warships in international waters off the U.S. coast "in the next few years." The comments Tuesday from Admiral Habibollah Sayyari on state TV are part of Iran's response to Washington's beefed up naval presence in the Persian Gulf.

<quoted text>LOL, "our" or "your" key military gear couldn't stop a bunch of amateur pilots from flying unarmed twin engine civil aircraft into the Department of Defense and the WTC towers, LOL.
As for military gear being EMP protected, what does that mean for 300,000 million "Americanos" with their cars stranded on the highway, their heat, airconditioning, water, food, cable, internet, electricity, public services, all frozen in time...Sure, the aicraft carrier sunk to the bottom of the sea by the atomic mine might have been hardened against EMP, but none of that will put food on the table or food in the grocery store. I think you're a bit nieve as to what an EMP attack really means, in fact, you're quite stupid about it.
It surely didn't. Those were twin jet engines and "heavy" aircraft. If someone is sufficiently ruthless and willing to did, they really cannot be stopped from carrying out atrocities. I fail to see the humor that you seem to have seen in that.

Protected military gear means that if someone contemplates using a large scale EMP nuclear device, he or she must also contemplate the inevitable retribution. While I think EMP is over-sold, it surely would be a terrible weapon; any nuclear weapon will generate EMP effects.

You opinion means nothing to me.

What did the US sell Iraq prior to turkey shoot No 1 ?
We know of biological warfare but seeing Saddam was a CIA poster boy for awhile what toys did he buy from your mob ?
Some commo gear and intel, as far as I know. We sold no biological or chemical warfare weapons. The CDC provided lab-sized samples of toxins to many countries under a program to help develop effective defense and anti-toxins, but not nearly enough to function as seeds for weaponized toxins. The only indicator that Iraq had biological devices was some of its ammunition bunkers were refrigerated, but none were found. Sarin was used by Iraq against Iran, and it is fairly easy to produce in large quantities.

If the US fleet got whacked by a nuke mine in the straights of Hormoose how far inland would a tsunami travel into Iran ?
The entire US Fleet? I think you underestimate the intelligence factor of the US military. For starters, the US Fleet (sans Pearly Harbor) is never "all in one place at one time." Secondly, the earthquake/tsunami theory is only a theory and would need to be proved before giving out any further information. Lastly, as mentioned earlier, a nuclear strike against any US interest would be met with a similar if not superior response. Iran knows this - although stupid, they aren't ignorant.

The US wouldn't set up a nuclear device in their own backyard - and I don't think Iran would either.

He was a huge customer of the Soviets/Russians and Chinese. We were a drop on the bucket, as the hulks of Iraqi army gear left in pieces in the desert will show.

The factories and labs where built by China
The Techs and Scientist where trained in Russia.
The advance scientific equipment was for the most part from Germany and the Netherlands..
There where a few Petrie dishes from the USA Which can be bought by a 12 year old at school supply stores.
So USA gets all the blame.

I have no clue - try pulling up some old YouTube videos of the atomic activity on Bikini Island back in the 40-50's. That would give you a decent idea of what kind of wave to expect.

Planning a sneak attack on the US sometime soon are we?

And of course the movie triggering such a reaction in Egypt was of poor taste and sexually suggestive to the prophet. I believe it also contained pornographic actors.

How on earth such a movie was allowed to be shown in The Middle East is beyond me. America, through homosexuality is thrusting its pornographic mind on the world. We're in deep chit folks.

One might ask what group of people mostly sanctions, performs, and profits in the porn industry in general. Nothing is taboo here anymore and will be our undoing.

It was not shown in the ME. It showed only once in the USA. As I understand it, utube has a trailer for it. Porn has been around since man first scratched on cave walls. Some of the most prolific consumers of porn are in the ME. I think Islam as it is taught on the ME cannot be compatible with life in nontheocracies. I think that Islam has a strongly violent tendency. I think it oppresses women. But it is reaching the point where one cannot state an opinion contrary to Islamic beliefs without placing his or her life at risk, and we are far too tolerant of that.

Good point Neville. It would not be prudent to put nuke turds in your own sandbox. The far better attempt would be to use a "dirty bomb" device in a densely populated area. My bet would be one that is loaded with a chemical or biological agent.

Just look at the problems they had after the hurricane Katrina in the US. The Gulf coast states could not evacuate people fast enough. There was no place in the safer interior to house storm refugees. Emergency service were overwhelmed. People actually died watching rescue choppers flying above them. There are still tens of thousands displaced in half-a-dozen states. These is horrific when you look at the fact the impacted populations 'knew' a large storm was coming.

Now what if just twenty 'dirty bomb' devices were set off at 5 minute intervals in twenty major US cities-in a city like Washington D.C., Manhattan, New York, Houston, Texas, San Francisco, California, Seattle, Washington, Denver, Colorado, and
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? The dead would be the lucky ones, the dying would overwhelm our medical resources, and the fleeing, panicked citizenry would make a Mel Gibson movie look like a high school play.

There is a reason why the two major nuclear powers used the term "Mutual Assured Destruction",(MAD), to impress one on the other of the folly of using nukes. Only a 'rogue' nation of religious fundamentalist would ignore the global devastation by not realizing the consequences of using just one Jihad nuke.

How many Iraqi's did you see carrying a M-16, or driving a Humvee, or flying a F-14, or cruising the Persian Gulf in a DDE?
