Iran " calling the Buddha statues symbols of “cultural invasion.” He said authorities will not permit a specific belief to be promoted through such items. Ansari did not say how many Buddhas had been seized, but that the “cleansing” would continue."

How ironic, I wonder who invaded who's culture. Buddhism was in Iran long before Islam invaded their culture. Now they want to eliminate it entirely.

These Muslim countries are banning other religion and or their practices , but Muslims are demanding equal and extra rights to practice on other's soil and attempting land grab.

I say ban Islam . Where ever islam spread , freedom dies. Only the path leading to hell remains.

Many Iranianian's ancestors are Buddhist and I am sure that there are those who want to cherish their lost heritage. However, it looks like there is no way out for them after Islamic cultural invasion.

You cannot promote your religion in our country while not allowing us to promote our religion in Islamic countries.

Buddhists should protest these actions of fundi Iranians.

I don't think we need to worry too much.

Buddhism is not about idols and has no need for them for the proper practice of Buddhism.

I'm not a Buddhist but I find gazing at a flower as the Buddha demonstrated is sufficient to help me to meditate on the grandeur of what is. No man made idol can do this.

Idols are neither good nor bad. It is the use of idols that can be dangerous as they detract from the reality of our being. A book such as the Koran can also be correctly viewed as an idol and like any other idol can prevent us from recognizing the truth of our existence.

Science is beginning to establish the reality of the mystical experience that many have had over the centuries such as Gautama Buddha, Jesus, Lao Tsu, and many others.

And to top it off, as we confirm the reality of what is with science that is in harmony with the observations of mystics, we will be able to clearly recognize primitive myth based religions such as Islam for what they are.

Today we already have technology that conflicts with myth based religion that is used by these various myth based religion to spread the word about their religions.

This hypocrisy will become increasingly apparent as we evolve in consciousness as the human race.

These myth based religions actually take advantage of the ignorant. No educated, intelligent person becomes a Muslim. Islam attracts the worst kind of people and bring ruination like a virus brings ruination to a body not exposed to the Dharma.

However, Buddhists must practice The Dharma, metta towards all and spread the teachings and practice if they are to counteract the virus of ignorance and weakness.

There are over a billion Muslims and 2 billion Christians waiting for Jesus to be saved while they rot inside. Amongst Buddhists and Hindus, millions simply light incense. That's over 3 billion atheists who do not believe in themselves and know not the divine law of the righteous.

No time to lose to practice ourselves and to teach. Death is meeting it's goal and is ready to attack. The question is, are we Buddhists meeting our goals --are we able to protect ourselves and the weak?

This is the real face of Islam . But in other countries , they will verbally attack any who even mention about the attrocities they cause, by abusing them with labels like " racist" etc.... The last time I checked , Islam is not a race. If it is a race then Muslims and Muhammad are the racist ones. Their own Muhammud instructed the Muslim "race" to kill and torture people that are not Muslims or at least make them pay for not being Muslims. If we want to refer to Muslim as a race then guess who is the biggest " racist".

It's ironic how in other countries they will demand for special rights to leave classes and face the black box to pray, make Christians remove their crosses at the work place, demand for Christmas tree removal from certain place because it hurts their sentiments, or sue an old woman for having porcelain pigs . They are just demanding for so much respect and special privileges yet given so little in areas that they dominated. For example , stealing , confiscating , or destroying the properties of people that are non Muslims, not to mention damage or destroying their bodies .

Iran is proof that you should never let religious nuts run your country, just as N. Korea is proof you should never let military nuts run your country.

Fanaticism of any kind is something to avoid.

when we condemn fundi iranians, we too must reflect upon ourselves how fundi we can be at times.

as much as you'd like to give 'tit for tat',it's just unBuddhistic to do so.

Buddhism share a different value from that of others, never promoting a tit for tat behaviour.

we condemn Talibans. Budubans like yourself should reflect on what is Maha Karuna. Buddhists are not hornets, stir & get stung. Buddhists are ambassadors of peace.

Resorting to name calling aren't you? ;). Why do you have resort to that?

How are my a buduban? Because I don't eat halal ? Since when did Buddha say that Buddhist have to eat like Muslim ? If I wanted to follow Islam rituals , don't you think that I would have become one? I did not chose to be Buddhist so that I can eat halal .

What do you know about peace. You even misinterpret tolerance as pacifism .

So what are you going to do about Iran going into people's shop and grabbed Buddhist religious symbol " ambassador of peace" who mistook tolerance as pacifism?

By the way, if Tolerance means pacifism then the Buddha would have call it that. If tolerance means allowing people to do whatever they like regardless what they do, then why is there a need to teach morality ?

Now if you are going to do something or tell iran that you condemn their actions of grabbing buddhist religious symbols from people's shops , then come back and talk to me I might listen to you . Until then, don't be turning/ distorting tolerance into pacifism if you fail to grasp tolerance.

There are many muslim majority countries/regions in eastern europe/central asia where FOREIGN immigrant budhists and hindus run there run their missionary organizations such as hare krishna..in azerbaijan you have a huge hindu temple in baku which is bigger than any mosques in baku! But amazingly not even a single hindu lives in azerbaijan
in tatarstan and bashkhorstan you find budhist temples that were built their goverenment as a mark of inter religous tolerance but you dont find a even single budhist the volga region! Maybe a few budhist immigrants from asia
in istanbul turkey you find many budhist organisations who have come from asia and are doing their missionary work did the turkish goverenment ban
the northern caucasus in south east europe is a pure muslim region but many hindu sanksrit texts are preserved there
turkmenistan, kazakhstan, uzbeki stan etc.. Have many hindu/budhist temples but do you find budhists and hindus there??
How about the arabian peninsula where hindus have basically made into a mini india?
You are radical enough not to see these but only point out irans ban and taliban destruction of bamian statue

So according to your logic, since there are some empty mosques left standing in some Christian countries , it is perfectly fine that Australia start going into people's shops to grab all Qurans from the shelves until it is cleanse from the country? And that Muslims are considered radicals if they speak about it?
