"Argo" is a flag-waving, error-filled, fiction and historical revision of what happened. What else would you expect from a country trying to fan the flames of war again, trying to justify an invasion of Iran?

If you want a more accurate (though still partly "adapted"), go watch "Escape From Iran" (1981), a TV movie made from the Canadian point of view. It was, for the ignorant who don't know, the Canadian embassy which helped the six yanks escape.
