I cannot believe that this church would take donations that were freely given to help local residents and then make people pay for them. There are people who have lost everything and in the face of a November Nor'easter, this so called church is making them pay for blankets, coats, and clothing. Donations are streaming in from all over the country with the expectation that they will be freely distributed to people in need. Making people pay even a nickle is scandalous. The people of Church of the Visitation should be ashamed.

Please let me take a moment to clear up a few inaccurate statements.
Church of the Visitation only allowed the Drum Point School PTA on Drum Point Road in Brick to use our facility. We were not involved in the sale or distribution of any clothing, food or the like.
During the first few days after Hurricane Sandy, we were approached by Drum Point School PTA asking if we would allow them to use our facility as a distribution center/soup kitchen. Realizing the need for such a service we gave permission for the Drum Point School PTA to use our facilities as needed. During this time they used our kitchen and supplies to cook and serve the needy and utilized our Church Auditorium to distribute clothing as needed.
Church of the Visitation has never, nor will we ever profit from the hardship of others caused by such devastation as what we have seen by Hurricane Sandy.
On Friday November 9, Visitation asked the Drum Point School PTA to find an alternate location to render their services.
Realizing there will be a need for services for many months to come, Visitation is in a transitional process phase of setting up a donation/distribution center for people impacted by the storm.
As many of you many know Church of the Visitation has St. Vincent de Paul Society which has been helping the needy in our community for over 30 years. The dedicated people who oversee this ministry will now oversee the distribution efforts.

No matter what good you try to do, there is always something, or someone to try to taint it. Our group, Brick Hurricane Relief, were not charging VICTIMS in our flea market at Visitation Church. The flea market idea came because, as we were delivering food and blankets to countless community members, they advised us they had greater needs than household items. After thanking us, they expressed their concerns with how best to cope with the daunting challenges that lay ahead in cleaning and restoring their homes. While blankets and clothing have been extremely helpful over the last few weeks, our organization believed our best course of action is to raise money for these area residents. 100% of the proceeds we raise gets distributed to the families who have endured these hardships in order to fix their homes and begin rebuilding their lives.
We got together and decided that we should hold a flea market for the COMMUNITY to come out and donate a little money( we know our community loves flea markets) in return for a a bag for them to shop. If anyone told use they were a victim we took their information and GAVE them anything they needed. With the money we raised, we are going to buy shovels and anything needed to help OUR VICTIMS.
If anyone has a suggestion on how to raise money and at the same time make room for the much needed supplies, like water, water heaters, sheet rock, etc, please contact us, we have been there every day from morning to night. Thanks

I can't believe you would believe that without seeing it for yourself. If my eyes don't see it I cannot judge nor should I anyway.
