Obama: Health-Care Law 'Here to Stay'

Full story: The Wall Street Journal

At his first campaign event since the Supreme Court upheld his health-care law , President Barack Obama bragged about the victory to supporters in this battleground state even as he tweaked his usual stump-speech message to appeal to independent voters.

Not if we vote the piece of crud out. This law rapes the American people and robs us of our first amendment rights and individuality. Food nazis, drug nazis, and cigarette nazis need to be rounded up as traitors and either executed or exiled. It is a shame that the parents of those who try to tell us what to eat, smoke, or put in our bodies didn't get abortions and sterilization.

The way it should work is that those who had the brains to prepare for their healthcare in advance should be rewarded, while those too stupid to prepare for it should be allowed to pay for their stupidity by being refused care. "Oh what about those who are handicapped or actually poor by no reasons of their own?" Well, let the churches and private charities handle that and keep the government out of it. By that system, if I want to smoke the entire stock of Phillip Morris, drink, take drugs, drink 55 gallons of soft drinks a day, and eat several 5 pound whoppers a day, I would have that right, and nobody would be forced to pay for it when it all comes crashing down on me (or I come crashing through the ER because I cannot fit through the door without breaking it). But this healthcare law will force the government to take away our liberties. Then it becomes a matter of saving costs, and the way to do that is through "prevention" or becoming a nanny state and taking away ALL our health choices. Even alternative medicine will be done away with as it will enable people to remain individuals.

The only moral thing to do is to leave others alone and trust them to manage their own lives, and to crash and burn if they can't. Nearly everyone who cares about the "suffering" (what they define as suffering since they have a mental illness which makes them unable to turn off their emotions and make rational decisions) is really what Henry Kissinger called "useless eaters." The world would be better if these meddling, types with the mental illness of codependency (co-addiction is a better name for it) just opted out of living among us. How they do should opt out is not my place to say. They could all take over one continent and shut off all outside contact. Hey, they should all move to China, and in their place, China should release all their political prisoners to us. They were arrested for loving freedom and transparency in the government, and that is the type we need here. The left-wing socialists statists who hate it here so much can trade places with them.

The more people act independently of one another, the healthier they are. Those who cannot function without groups and without yielding to peer pressure and group think are the sickest people who exist and should be hospitalized, not given government jobs. We are losing many freedoms and nobody gives a damn or has the brains to see it.

It is precisely the gullible American people who voted for Obama who are the fools. It's not just Obama who should carry the blame. Let's place it squarely and honestly where it lies ... on the other 535 or so occupants of the three branches. But more so the people who vote. I'd say let's vote the Commies out. They are the illegal aliens that should be led to the border and kicked in the butt. They call themselves American and claim to represent what is American. If you are a Socialist or hold Communist ideals you are not American. The damage to this country started long ago and has continued until now. Because the people love handouts. The Clintons, Obamas, Pelosis, & Reids know this. They have played poker with your dollar, handcuffed you to the pole, carved out deep furrows in your back, and made you to eat but dust of your labor. You love it America! It is time to break out of your shackles. Wake up!

My what a wonderfully compassionate human being you are! I agree if someone can't afford a half a million dollar surgery that's their own fault for not being a doctor or a lawyer or owning a big business to pay for it and if it's a child it's their fault for not being born to a richer family. Shame on them!

Actually, it is more compassionate than condescending to others, becoming their nannies, and bailing them out all the time and becoming powerful at their expense. Besides, my compassion is reserved for innocent children, and those who follow the laws, don't have any sex outside of marriage, and who didn't engage in a deliberate behavior which caused their condition. If you did drugs or alcohol and blew out your liver, don't come crying to me because you already had a chance and you wasted it.

It is also more compassionate to the world as a whole to let those born with certain genes die off naturally, than to extend their lives artificially and allow them to create more people with the same defective genes to suffer later on. So a little "compassion" now causes amplified suffering later, though it makes the Left powerful and the drug companies rich.

In previous posts in other places, I created an exemption for those who were born handicapped or deformed, and I shouldn't have to keep repeating myself on those points. They had no role in creating their illness.

As for the half million dollar surgery, we shouldn't have to pay for it if they had any role in creating it. If it was something they were born with, that is a whole other matter.

I'd rather die of self-inflicted causes like cigarettes and junk food even if that means no support from the government nor anyone else, than I would want to live in a nanny state where we have hardly any rights. I would rather die free than live being enslaved or "taken care of." The latter there is not living.

Something else, as far as children, if you cannot pay for their health needs, don't have them nor do the things that are designed to created children. Remember, when people do wrong, the innocent suffer.

It amazes me why those who are the least able to care for children are the most likely to have them. I am not sure if it is an evolutionary thing or what. I can see one advantage. If conditions are really bad and the parents cannot survive, then leaving a lot of kids may ensure that at least some will survive when they are gone.

Too bad it isn't against the law to have sex while poor. But that is impractical, could be argued as a human rights issue, and how would they try to enforce that? I wouldn't want to pay for sex-detectors to be installed in their homes and for a government staff to monitor them.

Nannies? Powerful at their expense?

I never said that. You are putting words in my mouth.

The Left doesn't want to be anyone's nanny. That's what the right does with its war on drugs, and trying to police people's sexual behavior.

Is the government being a "nanny" when it pays for your police protection? Should we privatize the police, so they will only protect you from crime if you can give them your police protection insurance number? Afterall, people should take care of themselves and if they don't crash and burn, am I right?
Besides, my compassion is reserved for innocent children
And yet you seem to think it's completely fair for innocent children to suffer and die because of their parents' choices.
don't have any sex outside of marriage
Who's the nanny now? Why is anyone's sexual behavior any of your business?
If you did drugs or alcohol and blew out your liver, don't come crying to me because you already had a chance and you wasted it.
And unfortunately because donated organs are a scarce resource we're going to have to continue the "triage" rules for alcohol, nothing different than the rules we've had so far. Someday we will be able to clone organs for donation and this won't be a problem anymore.

It's not easy to tell if a person has been responsible or not, and regardless you shouldn't just be left to die. There's an easy way to make up for that money. Taxes. We already tax cigarettes and alcohol because they are unhealthy, let the money go to help fund the health expenses from these behaviors.

WRONG. Most people with genetic disorders are still overall happy to be alive.

Plus in the future we won't need to rely on natural selection. It's called Gene Therapy and when it becomes feasible gene therapy should be part of a universal health care program.

I cringe at what I imagine your "solution" would be for genetic disorders that for various reasons don't impact the ability to reproduce(i.e. non-lethal disorders or disorders that kill at a later age).

I put no words in your mouth. I believe my way is much better than the alternative of a nanny state and gaining liberal control at the patients expense. That is what has to be done to do what you want, which isn't even worth discussing. I was continuing what I was discussing from the first post and I was expanding to discuss the entire realm in a broad general sense as all intelligent people do. Nothing I said has to do with you, so stop thinking the world revolves around you. You are not important enough to me to place words in your mouth. Besides, you embarrass yourself enough without help. Unless you click reply and speak in complete sentences below the entire quote block, you are wasting your time. Every toxic, controlling, or abusive person on Topix uses that inline style.

I only posted my first post as a vent and expected no replies. You could have done like me and answered the article and gave YOUR opinions without trying to reply or connect to others. Topix is like a toilet. You are supposed to take a shit, flush it, and move on to the next thread. You are not supposed to reach down the pipe and reach for shit to sling at others.

Not having sex outside of marriage is what ALL people need to do to keep the state from being their nanny. The moment you have sex that causes you to pop out a sick or unwanted child is the moment you have given all your rights to the government. The government has to control the rest of use because of those who cannot refrain from having excessive children or from mating when they have bad genes.

My original statement was:

"Besides, my compassion is reserved for innocent children, and those who follow the laws, don't have any sex outside of marriage, and who didn't engage in a deliberate behavior which caused their condition."

That has nothing to do with being a nanny. It is an OPINION, and I have a right to it, and I have a right to have it and express it in public without rebuke or ridicule. It is a part of me, and when you attack that, you are attacking me (thus making you the nanny type who wants to limit or control the speech of others). You have to take the entire sentence as a single unit, not split off pieces so you can twist my words.

Being "happy to be alive" doesn't mean you aren't suffering. People have the inherent right to not suffer, not just be in the warped holding pattern that some support. Again, it is more humane to allow suffering once than to multiply the suffering through spreading defective genes. Being glad to be alive says nothing about the quality of life. Besides, if your soul didn't make it into one body, you would be given another. So why cause people's souls to go into defective bodies?

As for gene therapy, that should only come to a private, capitalist enterprise, never through the government. If you have the brains and the virtue, if you need such, you WILL find a way to get it. We need to bring back rugged individualism and expecting others to lift themselves up by the bootstraps. If you have superior intelligence and a superior work ethic, it is only right that you have an advantage over others. If they want it bad enough, they will do the same things. However, the liberal-owned government has so many regulations, taxes, and so on that those who are hard on their luck cannot get ahead. They don't need a handout, they need the government to get out of their way. And for a generation, crime and poverty will get worse. But at those who cannot lift themselves up die off, and their ideas die off, more can become independently strong without being a part of a group, SIG, caucus, union, or anything but a family and maybe a good church.
