Obamacare Ends Construction of Doctor-Owned Hospitals
2:50 PM, Jan 3, 2011 • By JEFFREY H. ANDERSON

Under the headline, "Construction Stops at Physician Hospitals," Politico reports today that "Physician Hospitals of America says that construction had to stop at 45 hospitals nationwide or they would not be able to bill Medicare for treatments." Stopping construction at doctor-owned hospitals might not seem like the best way to boost the economy or to promote greater access and choice in health care, but that exactly what Obamacare is doing.
Kenneth Artz of the Heartland Institute explains, "Section 6001 of the health care law effectively bans new physician-owned hospitals (POHs) from starting up, and it keeps existing ones from expanding." Politico adds, "Friday [New Year's Eve] marked the last day physician-owned hospitals could get Medicare certification covering their new or expanded hospitals, one of the latest provisions of the reform law to go into effect."
This little-noticed but particularly egregious aspect of Obamacare is, by all accounts, a concession to the powerful American Hospital Association (AHA), a supporter of Obamacare, which prefers to have its member hospitals operate without competition from hospitals owned by doctors. Dr. Michael Russell, president of Physician Hospitals of America, which has filed suit to try to stop this selective building-ban from going into effect, says, "There are so many regulations [in Obamacare] and they are so onerous and intrusive that we believe that the section [Section 6001] was deliberately designed so no physician owned hospital could successfully comply."

Artz writes, "According to Russell, the AHA, along with Sen.[Max] Baucus (D-MT) and Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA), are responsible for the language in Section 6001." But the responsibility for all aspects of the overhaul primarily lies with outgoing-House speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate majority leader Harry Reid, and, particularly, Obamacare's principal champion, President Barack Obama.

The communist dictator Obama is deceiving the American people while adding 30-50 million more patients without doctors and hospitals available for them. This means that Obama will force the American to use uneducated nurses in lieu of doctors and pain killers to replace real drugs that cure diseases. Obama's healthcare regulations of 2700 pages stuffed with socialistic health scum government controls over your life is rejected by more than half of the States of the American union and by all states led by GOP Governors due to its failure to do provide price effective medical services and due to the fact that applying Obama care was designed to push the States to bankruptcy and socialism. Therefore only few liberal states of the American Union will try utilizing the Obama’s health and will stop using it when doctors, drug companies and hospitals will halt providing any health services due to bankruptcy. More than 60% of the American people see the Obama health scum as a tricky way for the dictator Obama to grab power over the private life of every American using the IRS tax collector and to push many hard-working Middle Class Americans to bankruptcy and to annual beaurocratic problems with Obama's agents of the IRS. Americans do not trust Obama’s czars to provide any basic health care without pushing it to corrupt monstrous way of re-distribution of trillions of dollars to Obama’s illegals, voluntarily unemployed, voluntarily “poor” and voluntarily ‘disabled’. Therefore, the Obama health scum is a present for Mitt Romney and the GOP because the American people hate it, disagree with the lost of liberty and freedom to Obama’s IRS agents and will go united in their demand to vote out the deceitful liar in chief Obama who proved to be a menace to American people.

I want doctors focused on health care and graded, rated and promoted on their care or service. But I don't want them burdened from a bureaucracy that will focus their time on administrative duties unless they want it.

BUT for those in the health care industry that do not seem to mind being reimbursed and even exploit a bureaucracy is a contradiction. They seem to be able to hire enough clerks, administrators and office managers to get reimbursed by third parties yet they are complaining because that same staff might have to make a few more entries....

Unfortunetly as a doctor as in many other professions you must eventually decide to specialize in the business or technical end of your profession. Do you want to grow the business and income or do you want academic accolades. Will your pay be a gratefull patient or a large bank account. Most I suspect want both. I think the key is to be realistic.

In the end medical care is a business. As much as I am free market the health care industry should be subject to the same scrutiny as any other business.

Best summed up as those who do not want to compete. Competition and scrutiny is exactly what doctors and hospitals don't want. Those medical industry professionals who learned enough administrative skill have learned how to exploit a third party somebody else is paying for system to the fullest-especially the hospitals.

Either they go truely free market or single payer but I'm tired of watching those exploit both sides of the fence.
