You second amendment crazies who believe it is your "right" to own weapons of war are so amerikkkkkan.
Keep your weapons in your trailers and gun clubs and keep them off the streets and public spaces in our country.
Our "rights", our children"s "rights", our movie goers "rights" should include not being blasted away by a gun hugging amerikkkkan with a weapon of war in a movie house, a shopping mall, or a school.
Yaaaaaaaawn.

History shows that mass shooters target "gun free zones" and do it quite effectively.

Feinstein's proposed Assault Weapon Ban

"It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession, not retroactively, but prospectively," and ban the sale of clips of more than ten bullets, Feinstein said. "The purpose of this bill is to get... weapons of war off the streets."

In case you are unsure, prospectively means in the future. In other words all legally owned assault style weapons plus legally owned high capacity magazines(not clips)are grandfathered. That means the vast majority of the 20-30 million assault style rifles privately owned are not banned from lawful usage.

What Research Can Tell Us About the Newtown Shootings
By David Wagner | The Atlantic Wire

"Strict gun control laws absolutely have led to fewer deaths in other countries.

"Researchers under the supervision of Joan Ozanne-Smith of Monash University studied firearm-related deaths over a 22-year period in Australia, finding a notable drop in deaths (especially suicides) after the country implemented strict gun control laws in the late '80s and mid-'90s.

"The Medical University of Vienna's Nestor D. Kapusta and colleagues noticed similar trends when Austria got tough on gun control in 1997. A number of variables make the U.S. different than these nations—but in Austria and Australia, RESEARCH SHOWS THAT DEATHS HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY GUN CONTROL."

The ignorance is astounding.

I keep seeing Columbine come up.
Guess what there was an assault weapons ban then. Didn't change anything.
An assault weapons ban now will accomplish the same thing, that is to say nothing.

I also see over and over automatic weapons should be banned, guess what , they already are. Since 1986.

Assault weapons are classified as any weapon that is loaded via magazine.
Guess what, that means that almost every semi automatic ever made is an assault weapon.
So basically this is a buzzword term that will be used as rhetoric in a almost total semiautomatic weapon ban.

High cap magazines, another topic of ignorance for the uninformed.

Well now, you gun fellas will know exactly what I'm saying so this is for the ignorant. The difference in time it takes to load one 30 round magazine in an AR-15 vs three ten round magazines is about three seconds.

I can carry a specific number of rounds regardless of magazine capacity, three ten round magazines take roughly the same amount of space as one 30 round magazine.

So any high cap magazine ban will accomplish making a lunatic shooter loose just a few seconds at best.

Now the one last thing , all the liberals seem to lose their minds when it comes to guns, So I have to ask ,

When crime happens why do you bother to call the police to stop the crime and what empowers them to do so?

One thing , their guns.

I wonder what keeps Feinstein's followers from seeing that the agenda is to grow the power of the State and that's it. They didn't see it with "obamacare" and they won't see it with this.

Who cares that the bill won't stop the next shooting, or that the other bill won't lower costs, or this bill won't actual establish "equality". The government says it will and that makes them feel good, Republicans voted no, so they demand it be passed.

In contrast, Japan which has very strong gun restrictions has a suicide rate twice that of the United States.

And they had eleven firearm murders in 2008.

Eleven.

Total.

Fewer murders than the US has had in one place in one shooting (and twice last years).

Gee Whiz, does what you walk through and spew, smell rancid also?? Barack Hussein Obama has to have a minion to propose it, anyone of the leeches. Reid, Pelosi or Dickie Turban could do the deed. You do need to study on how Congress works....

We gun owners are Americans to. And just so you know you small scared little man ,I'm not done.

Our second amendment is the same right that protects your fist amendment right to come on this site and spew the most childish asinine tripe I've had the misfortune to read.

I've watched you insult all gun carriers with childish name calling. Current and former law enforcement, current and former military men. Hunters and law abiding citizens alike. You disgust me and have no right to call yourself American in any fashion.

The last one couldvery easily have been stopped. This person was involved in an altercation the day before the shooting. He came back the next day and killed three of those he argued with the day before. Then he killed the children in the class his mother used to teach. Why when he was at the school the day before creating a disturbance didnt the school authorities call the police. They dropped the ball they could & should have filed charges against this nut case. Why didnt they? maybe because his mother was a former teacher & friend? Why am I the only one who seems to bring this point to the debate?

Really? How?

The government has not and will not pass a piece of legislation involving guns that will prevent these mass shootings. Only a gun-hating, leftist fool would think so.

Over 75 people were killed (and over 100 injured) in mass shootings during Obama's first term.

We won't even mention the total number of young lives taken by illegal firearms in Obama's home town of Chicago so far this year.

Suffice to say it's more than 26.

1. When you take God out of society, you leave no hope and eliminate the 'rules' people would once follow. There is no guilt or concern about repercussions from actions committed in this life.
2. When you mainstream the mentally ill with normal society, there will be backlash. Look at them the wrong way and there goes another mass shooting.
3. Overuse of drugs and medication has created an addicted society to artificial means in order to cope with life.
4. Media glorification of violence, drugs and sex exposes the youngest members and numbs them.
5. Integration of the ghetto mentality into all social groups has poisoned the youth. Impressionable kids will act out things they never would have if not exposed.
6. Mainstreaming the mentally ill because the media convinced society they had the right to be 'free'. Free to murder, rape, torture and maime. It's not the guns, it's the crazies.
How long must people suffer the shackles of colon restriction torture devices just for looking at some sadistic tyrant the wrong way?

17.10 (12.10) NBC are reporting that there was allegedly an altercation between Lanza and staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School the day before the shooting.

Officials say Lanza was involved in an argument at the school which involved himself and four other staff members. Of the four, three were murdered in the shooting spree while the fourth was not at school yesterday and is now being interviewed by federal and state investigators.
