The SCOTUS Justices are not supposed to be swayed by elections, or public opinion. That's exactly why they are appointed for life. They are SUPPOSED TO apply the U.S. Constitution as it is written, and decide cases on the basis of what the U.S. constitution says, what the laws ssay, and apply JUSTICE in an EQUAL fashion.

They're not supposed to decide things on the basis of polls, elections, "what the people say", etc.
