Why should government sponsor marriage (gay, straight, etc.) at all? If you want a a gay marriage, go to a priest, minister, rabbi, imam, judge, etc. who will endorse one. If you are against gay marriage, don't patronize the services of a priest, minister, rabbi, imam, judge, etc. who will endorse one. I realize that there are some side issues that are relevant here -- such as contract law, adoption, benefits for public employees, etc.-- but the idea that it is Big Brother who decides whether or not a marriage is moral/ethical is an abdication of our own personal responsibilities in favor of expecting governemnt to decide for us.
