If islamism declines, what weakness of the middle east will the imperialist forces in the west use to foment factionalism and use as a pretext to intervene and take control of resources.(they use the term 'protect their interests'!). Yes they will bring peace, but in return they will takentheir pound of flesh.
West has always covertly funded and armed the islamists everywhere, either disguised as payment for something, or thrugh other proxy sources like Saudi Arabia etc.
Then they use the islamists a the boogie man to scare govts. and peoples, who run to them for protection.
Of course, they get to "protect their interests" in exchange for their generous support. And they get to be the heroes!
