i really appreciate the military take over due to the present political crisis in Thailand. How I wish that our own Armed Forces here in the philippines could stand like your Military a Bloodless take over. Give them time to run after Prime Minister Thaksin to answer all the present problem in Thailand and we will see what is the best things to move. Were Hoping that democracy will exist in this military junta. Thank you.

Taksin may have made problems in running the country. But what he has done for the poor is something that no government has done. The people just don't care if you call it "populist". what is wrong with that then? Don't think that we are so dumb and can't think who has done good for our livelihood. What has haapened to the Thai middleclass now? Cheering on the military coup that we have been up against for almost our life time? Shame on you. Shame on us. I'm ashamed to be a Thai.

Dear country girl: It is not his own money he gave to the villagers, my dear.. It is the taxpayers money he gave freely calling it a village fund. You are not perhaps aware that many hundred times of that fund he created for villagers were swallowed by him and his cronies in the name of development projects for the naion. His drama of giving away the public money to villagers and the poor was a was mask to cover up his long list of frauds. His plan was to buy the illiterate & poor people because of their votes. Not out of any sympathy. Has he ever sacrificed anything from his own personal wealth for the sake of this country? Have you seen any one news item that he gave his personal wealth to help the needy and downtrodden as a charity fund or a charity trust? He sucked the country of its blood for his personal gains and the educated citizens who are the middle class can see his evil designs so very well. He went one step further-he divided the society into villagers and city dwellers so that they can fight amongst themselves and thus he can go scott free of his misdeeds. To permanently entrench himself in power, interfered in the Army, Police and other forces by placing his own relatives and blood brothers and his wife's own blood brothers into powerful positions. Is this the way a lover of the poor and the weak will behave?. His evil designs were too glaring for all Thais to see. Yet,many innocents in villages like you got carried away by the propaganda and the advertisements he so well managed to brainwash rural people. He loved himself and his power and money much more than this country and its poor. I assure you this is the truth. Wake up from your dreams my dear country girl . No one has ever done any thing greater to the Thailand's rural poor and weaker sections than our Beloved Great King in the last 61 years I can say boldly and confidently. A thief can escape for a few days but will one day be caught and all his misdeeds will come in open. Wait a while. Country Girl wrote: Taksin may have made problems in running the country. I agree with country girl. Many people sacrificed their life for democracy and then 15 years later a bunch of people said that they hate Thaksin, Thaksin go away, forget about democracy, just kick him out?? That's rediculous. After the coup, I've lost my faith in Thailand. Every newspaper write about Thaksin as if he was the rebirth of satan or something like that....what's bad is that most of the people reading it believe in what they read without any consideration...and right now the new government is trying to attack and destroy every work Thaksin made no matter how good or bad it is....just to make all the thais forget the good things he had done in the past....don't u think this is cracy? I was like.."who cares if the lottery were illegal!??, just do something to solve the flood and terrorism!!!!" what can i do?, I'm just a 16-year-old girl studying in highschool, it's sucks to see Thailand's constitution torn into pieces and i can do notthing. I don't care if all those adults saw this country as a chessboard and they are playing a game or whatever, but could they please play it by the rule?

Removing Thaksin was the best thing to happen here over the past 5 and half years. His corruption was unprecendented, his greed unmatched. If he ever returns, may he rot in jail until the crematorium calls for him.

Thanks Country Girl. Our 20 thousand people appreciate your view. If Thailand is really pro-democracy, 70% of Thai voices isn't sound more sufficient than one dictator Sodhi! I hope that we all understand that this evil guy is a member of the south.

Yeah, that kind of sucks where Thaksin couldn't be removed from out of office constitutionally. I want Thailand to have a strong democracy!

this comment by patriot is the most informed opinion that i have read. the truth is all contained in his text. i know for sure i live in buriram ,i have seen the bribes handed out to vote for thai rak thai. i have spoken to village leaders too afraid vote against thaksin. i have seen the corrupt officials driving their new pickups, paid for from the money that should go to the villagers. i have spoken to village leaders too afraid to refuse bribes because of death threats.
thaksin was the most corrupt politician since marcos in the philippines.
now all thailand needs is someone to lead the country, who actually cares about thailand not about money. wheter this person exists , we shall have to wait and see.in the meantime the military government should push ahead with elections, asap

do any of the people who are in favour of thaksin. care about how he got so rich, do they know how many poor people could be helped if the money he stole from thailand was seized back. do they not ask themselves how this man got so much richer after he became p m. do they dont worry about corruption, then they dont worry about democracy. if they think that my teacher friends througout isan , having to sleep in their schools to prevent thaksin followers from burning them down is ok.

soletsmovebackwards. dont worry my young friend ,in thailand things have a habit of returning back to where they started. democracy is not dead yet. just on hold. democracy under thaksin was a bit of a myth anyway. democracy such as freedom of the press went backwards under thaksin. also the problems in south thailand got significantly worse. lets all hope that the forthcoming elections are fairer than the previous ones and that thailand gets a stable government, thats elected without bribery. the economy remains strong and that is an important indicator.

you all need to look closely at the allegations created by the CNS against Thaksin and his relatives...And most importantlty the verdict to ban 110 Thai Rak Thai from politics. Do they have any merits? how about the Thai constitution? what of democracy is that to tear up its country's constitution? ammendments should be made and voted to make changes to the constitution. Take a look at the real democracy country (USA). The US constitution has not been changed since democracy came to life...and they are put together based on the rights of its citizens. CNS is the real corruptions and Communism is staring right in the eyes of Thailand's citizens.

i am sorry soupa , but you are incorrect, the allegations appeared long before the coup. thaksin just crushed all efforts to bring him to court, by removing anyone that made allegations against him. he stifled the press and banned any radio and tv stations that spoke against him. hardly democratic. when you talk about democracy you cannot compare the western world with asia. thailand democracy was only paper thin to start with. by removing thaksin at least there is a chance that elections might be fairer. thaksin bought his prime ministership by bribing the people of north east thailand.
