I've followed tennis since 1959 & in women's tennis Justine will always rank as one of the very best -- right up there with the graceful all-court games of Maria Bueno & Evonne Goolagong. She was always more mature than her peers, not questioning every point or loudly grunting her way through a match. Her slight frame made it necessary for her to give her all each & every time she set foot on a court. Sadly this may have caused an early end to a wonderful career. Bravo, Justine. Well, well done ! Bonne chance.

quite honestly, i am not sorry to see the back of justine henin. while i respect her prowess as a player, i never liked her as a person - she always came over as holier than thou - also i did not like the way she pulled out of her aqustrailian open final against mauresmo, thus denying (or trying to deny) mauresmo a 'real' grand slam win. i also several finals that she lost, and she barely shook hands - not very sportsmanlike. E$very time she was defeated it was either a 'virus' or 'personal problems' or her 'marriage difficulties'. blah, blah, blah. good riddance i say

Although she might not have always conducted herself in the most "sportsmanlike" manner, she was in that regard no worse than some of her peers, such as Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. Justine added a great deal to the women's game with her style, variety, and scrappiness. She wasn't my favorite player; however, the loss of any player of her caliber diminishes the game.
