Serena Williams Disqualified After Rant, Alleged Threat Against Lineswoman

Although the exact rant is inaudible in the video of Serena Williams' foot fault below, it's clear that she hurled some verbal abuse at a lineswoman at the U.S. Open today. That, coupled with a prior penalty for smashing her racket earlier in the match, cost her a point. Unfortunately, it was on match point against her.

According to what Serena said in the press conference the lines lady herself acknowledged the situation that Serena never used kill or anything like that in the rant. Serena is the one who thought the lady said that Williams would kill her. It was profanity laced that is not uncommonly used by other pro tennis players. The earlier racket breaking compounded the issue too which evidently went into the decision for the costly single point penalty.

Williams wasn't "disqualified" dummy. As the story writer said, she lost a point for her behavior, which happened to be the match point.

Headline writers should be taken out and shot. They're often the root source of foolish rumors and misinformation.
