Im not a fan of Murray but i was really rooting 4 him to win since Rafa is out. I was equally emotional as he was during d trophy presentation. Federer seems to play well under a roof just like d match w Djoko..but i wonder what if d opponent was Rafa? I doubt he could hav his 7th!!!

Elaine, this is the old old argument! Roger only won because Rafa wasn't there. Forgive me but this is nonsense. Roger beat Novak in the semis at Wimbledon, the no 1 player in the world, and
at the end of the year tournament in 2011, beat Rafa
to be crowned champion.

Roger is the holder of 17 Grand Slams,7 of them on grass, and a worthy winner. Even Rafa would say Roger is the best player ever.

I think you missed Elaine's point.

Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players ever. However, he has had an increasingly difficult time beating Rafael Nadal. Nadal leads in the overall h2h 18-10, and in GS h2h he leads 8-2.

I agree with Elaine. Had Federer had to face Nadal in this year's Wimbledon, his chances on winning a 7th time would have been pretty low. I believe Nadal would be celebrating his 3rd Wimbledon championship.

I disagree with you. I have been watching Roger since he came on the scene in the late 90's and he seems to be playing as good as was 5 or 6 years ago. Rafa is the king of clay but Roger is the king of Wimbledon!!!!!!!!!

Nobody cares what you think because you disagree with everything that everyone says on here except when it comes to that cow Serena Williams. There you moron I called her a cow. Does that still make me a racist? Roger would have beat Rafa the way he played against both Novak and Andy. Yes he is 18-10 against Roger, however many of those wins were on clay where Rafa is the king. Roger is the king of Wimbledon and grass. The way Roger played yesterday nobody was going to beat him, not even Rafa. If Rafa can't even beat a guy ranked 100th in the world, how would he have beat the greatest player of all time and the best ever on grass? And he is " one of the best ever " as you say here. He is the best ever!!!!!!!!!! McEnroe, Cahill, Drysdale and all the others say he is the best ever but you say he is " one of the best ". I wonder who I should believe. You are a complete idiot!!!!!!!

Sorry for TMD's comments Helen but he is a complete moron as you can see by his comments. The way Roger played against Novak and Murray in the last 2 rounds, you are correct nobody was going to beat him. He came into the tournament very confident and said he was going to win the tournament and he did. He had some problems against Benneteau, fought through that match and after that he looked awesome. TMD's need to realize that Roger is the best ever no if's and's or buts, however, he has a thing for that obnoxious piece of garbage Serena Williams who is happy when everything is going her way but spews venom towards umpires and line judges when it's not. The proof is all over the internet from 2011, 2009, 2004, 2001 and more. Pretty amazing that he has been able to regain his No. 1 ranking at almost 31 years old, something even McEnroe and the boys thought he couldn't do.

Unfortunately, there are people like TMD out there who don't appreciate greatness, class and sportsmanship that Roger has displayed and something Serena knows nothing about and never will!!!!!!!!!!

If you take away Rafa's clay court victories, they are pretty much even or Roger is maybe ahead. He has a tough time against Nadal, however, he came into the tournament with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove and he is a very deserving winner. It wouldn't have been easy but he would have beat Nadal in 4 or 5 sets. He has obviously been working on some parts of his game that were lacking such as his serve and volley ( do you know what that means ?????) He is best ever in everyone's mind except yours, however, you think Serena is the best ever which explains a lot about you.

Probably neither. You just have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to tennis. I bet Elaine above can see that already!!!!!!

Federer is lucky to hav 17 GS bc he was playing in an era wo Nadal n Djokovic. So for me he isnt that great! He is quite a sore loser too in d US Open final against Del Potro n a few more. Humbleness is also not in his vocabulary.

He is lucky to have 17 GS? I agree that his behaviour against Del Potro wasn't the greatest nor was it when he lost against Nadal on a couple of occasions, however, look at the behaviour of Serena, McEnroe, Roddick and even Ilie Nastate. Nothing compares to the billigerence of Serena? It's all over You Tube if you don't believe me. 2011 against Stosur, 2009 against Clijsters, 2004 against Capriatti, 2001 against Henin etc. etc. etc.

As far as his on-court performance, he did beat Nadal in the Wimbledon final in 2005 and 2006 and other very good players during his career. What I think is most impressive is his consistency during his career competing in 31 or 32 straight GS quarterfinals in his career which is amazing. He has beat Djokovic regularly ( including in the Wimbledon semi-final and come close on several other occasions. What exactly does he have to do to convince you he is the best ever which most experts would agree with? Maybe if he wins 25 GS titles?

Exactly!

This is what I've been saying for a long time. His interviews and attitude have been anything but gracious since he lost the '08 Wimbledon final (and, consequently, his #1 ranking) to Nadal.

Federer is an outstanding tennis player, but he is human, and he is definitely beatable. He has his good and bad moments just like the rest of us.
