Regardless of whether Denard thinks he was safe, in those situations you just CANNOT take any chances. First time, down 3-0, there's no reason to be taking a big lead off 2nd. And then in the 8th, down 5-1 with the tying run on deck and one out, you have to freeze on Mauer's line drive. That's something a coach tells a kid in little league. For a major leaguer to pull two boneheaded baserunning plays like that in one game is inexcusable. So much for fundamentals.

Big10 is right, Punto also showed his lack of knowledge by not running to home before the final out. Are these guys listening to the base coaches? Shouldn't they have learned this in Little League.
